Got this phone on upgrade from Orange nearly 2 weeks ago and I have to say yes, on the whole I'm very pleased with it. HOWEVER!!!!! In the short time I've had it, it has turned itself off four times and has twice completely frozen up and I've had to pop the battery out in order to do anything with it! Also, it has lost screen savers that I have set and has also wiped it's own memory, only for it to all come back again when I turned it off and then on again! Very strange! The resolution is great though and photo's that I have bluetoothed over from my 7610 look SO much better on this screen!!! Another point to make . . how freaked out was I when it spoke to me!! I couldn't believe my ears!! My friends all call it KITT after the Knight Rider talking car now!! An awesome piece of kit but I get the feeling Orange have stuffed it up somewhat by messing around with the software like they always do on al their phones. Don't think it'll be the only N80 I own between now and upgrade next year! I anticipate a fair few claims on phone insurance for faulty phones if this one's anything to go by!!
The battery is empty at the end of every day, sometimes well before, especially with wi-fi, I had to buy an extra battery. The low-light video and photo is useless. The slider and the battery cover is loose. Not the best $700 I've ever spent.
Friends can somene please help me with how to connect to WLAN and browse the internet? I have a wireless router but still can't connect.
In my local carphone warehouse in east sussex the n80 has been released...but only in there i can find it. by the way when you see it in real life i promise you all its not a brick at all, looks can be decieving!
Thanks Bob! i'll try and let you know.
Yes, I did buy N80. (Pearl Black)
But having said that I'd like to admit that I am really looking forward to getting N83 as soon as it arrives in market.
Also I have ordereda 2GB san sidk miniSD card. Can someone advise if it will work fine with N80?
Truthteller, have you got yoursel an n80 then???
Anyway in response to your question, when accessing the wlan you use the same password as your pc/laptop uses to access it. If you havent changed it since you bought your router, then it is likely to be the same one you used when setting your router up.
Its greate phone fast and cristal clear disply i had never seen before and all advanced feeturs .this phone looks ugly in photos but real phone is not.we cant compare any phone with this.but battery is not good.
Has anyone tried updating their N80 firmware through USB?
Let me know the results!
Yes start to feel a bit loose on the slide, a little disappointed with the built quality after spending so much on this phone. When a company getting the main share of market, they just dont care about quality anymore. Never learn when they start to loose market share.
Got mine for few days. Overall ok good display and performance but disappointing battery, difficult to slide up
Can sum1 plz reply and comment on sound and volume quality of loudspeaker ? (via email if possible)
i just got this n80 last week from orange, the phone is great in every aspect, but the battery performance is very very poor,i think this is due to it being a 3g phone, they drain the battery,i'm sending it back! lol
i wonder how good is the sound quality of this phone? can anyone answer my question?
Ugly phone? hah!
Maybe you just can't afford to buy this kind of phone. That's why you say it's ugly.
Well, to tell to all reader, N70 is great phone but N80 is more and much greater than all present N-series phone released this month.
Just beg your mum to buy you this phone so you will not say it's ugly.
I'm from philippines and i just got this phone yesterday, May 27, 2006. And I say this phone is so great. Everything here is useful no non-sense features. The camera is great even the secondary camera, eventhough it's just VGA but still takes great pictures. The Wi-Fi is so fast, and it's handy. In the picture it seems to be so big and heavy but in actual this is just a small powerful and packed with great and marvelous features phone. The screen resolution is more even and clear than the N90, but this phones have same resolution, Well. truly I can't understand why N80's screen is more clear than N90, eventhough this phone has same screen resolutions.
And among this features I mentioned I like the style of this phone, Slide-Up.
GREAT JOB Nokia.
