By the way I don't know why you are comparing a 65k color to 16m color since n80 had 262k color screen 8)As regarding the screen resolution, some would prefer sharper image while some might need better color display. Is quite subjective imo.
And having dual speakers doesn't garantee a better performance actually. It just garantee a higher volume output or providing louder sound. The speakers quality is yet to be tested or review.
Frankly speaking I won't be saying that n92 is more advance or superior over n80. To me both are equally on par. One had a higher mp camera where the other had a tv receiver. Both are catering for different type of users. n92 is good with a large screen, but in return for that, you get quite alot of extra weight from the phone.
real state of the ART phone ever just the best phone... camera quality is lovely.
nokia is still in the stage of improvement... i don't even know if thats only a part of their business strategy- to make phones that has one or two important features removed. For now they had improved their speaker sound quality, camera quality, and screen quality, and plastic quality- they even use metals now...they really have quality plastic casings now, unlike before the use cheap looking plastics and creaky casings...just like 3310.
but they're still not improving call quality, battery life and their phone's speed in using Symbian OS. those are the main disadvantages when using nokia phones. call quality is so poor in avery noisy place. you can't even hear the person you talked to.
but nokia now takes a huge leap for they're nseries... nokia had already left the other mobile phone companies in terms of technology. they're now prioritizing their N-line... last time their priority was the 6XXX and 7XXX series.
overall, nokia is the best mobile phone maker for now- making different phone
line segments in order to offer more choices to people...it
makes now more profit for them.they really got the best strategy over
maybe you're the one who needs to do some more research.... hey how did u say that nokia n80 is a music express phone??? its not!!! does it have those dedicated keys for music playing??? (pause/play,stop,previous & next)nokia n92 has!!!
yes maybe your correct that it's mono... but the point there is that n92 has better sound performance than your n80!!! whether what place are those speakers located,it doesn't matter!!! what's important is it has 2 speakers! meaning better performance...
another one is that, does your n80's 2.1 inch ideal for games??? you'll be squinting... and that's a proven fact! remember the nokia n-gage drawback, nokia n92 is better having 2.8 screen!
320 x 240 to 416 x 352 isn't a great improvement, 2 megapixels to 3 megapixel isn't either.
but 65,536 colors to 16million colors is really a spectacular improvement!
nokia n80 should also have 60 times more resolution to be equal with n92's 60 times more color.
improvement in color is "OFTENTIMES" better than improvement in resolution.
and also you told that nokia n92 doesnt have 90MB of ram... definitely wrong!!It has 90 mb of ram, and n80 does have 40 mb... pls read its specifications... yes they're both have up to 2gb capability.
you don't even know that nokia n92 is also a quadband phone!
to be fair with you... as I've said before, that n80 will be the winner and n92 only a runner up... WHY??? because the advancement of features of n92 will not appeal to most users. n80 wins because it has all the basic features that most users will really need. most users dont need DVB-H technology,me too don't need it... nokia n80 has "LESS" features but IMPORTANT, and nokia n92 has "MORE" features but are almost USELESS to be in a mobile phone. I agree with you that stereo speakers are useless... but thing i want you to understand is that
2 speakers is more advanced.
I'm also begging you to accept the fact that nokia n92 is MORE advanced but not the best,
and nokia n80 is just advanced(not more, not less, just in the middle) but it's the best phone ever created.
I really wanted for us to stop this quarrel...sorry for the wrong words i have told... you just and must really need to accept that n92 is most advanced for now,
and nokia n80 is the best phone.
frankly, I'm still deciding whether what to buy... whether n92 or n80. or even the rumored nokia blux which could play n-gage games and it's a two slider!!! but only 1.3MP
Honestly, if nokia continued its series 90 OS... then for sure any mobile on that series will be my choice... there will be no more decision making. that's only my opinion... so please be open.
I would say the w900 is not even worth for its current price. Its just a 3g enable walkman phone. Besides providing better music quality and streaming, it just basically a 3g phone. If you are currently a smartphone user, I think the n80 will be a better choice. Maybe n80 won't provide you with some good music as like w900, but in overall features it is much more better. At least you can install additional symbian programs which w900 can't
wclyffe: Wow are you complaining about using the keypad that pretty much EVERY other phone has and have ever had for the last 20 years? Where have you been in this period of time exactly?? And you need an extra battery to type SMS messages? You must be an incredibly slow typer then! I guess you have never heard of the dictionary feature which phones these days tends to have either. It prevents you from having to press multiple times on a button. Awesome huh? Anyway, how anyone can have trouble using the keypad on mobilephones is beyond me...
You don't need a phone. You need a PDA. Or maybe a 1 year memebership for "SMS types for dummies" lessions.
"please please please
whats the price??????"
If it will stop you from posting these type of questions again, I will make up a number. How does $1,000 sound? People can tell you anything they want about the price, but it will ultimately be up to the vendors that sell it that will determine the price. You have two options, call all of them and ask how much they will selling it for OR wait until it comes out, and SEE the price on all the vendors websites. Me personally, I'm going with the second chose.
Okay, I've read as many of these posts as I can take about the Nokia N80 from bad photos to bad battery life, but my biggest worry is this: I really like the commbination of all the elements on this phone, but for a smartphone that is suppose to be about COMMUNICATING, why is there no reasonable way to write and send an email....no grafitti, no Qwerty keyboard, etc. Are we really suppose to press each key a few times to get the right letter. If that's the case, you will definitely need a few extra batteries!!
i love the idea of this phone, it has all the features in the world that u would want and proably the best camera that u can get on a phone
can somebody tellme when it come out...i cant wait
I am wondering which phone this was suppose to go up against on the Ericsson side, because if it is going against the P990, the 3 hour talk time vs. the 9 hour talk time on the P990 (at least that is what it says on the Sony Ericsson website) really puts the N80 at a serious disadvantage. I would hope the N80 would be at least $100 (preferably more) cheaper (in order to cover the cost of getting a second battery).
Well at least N80 is on 850MHZ band, and since P990 is on 900MHZ band (and I have no interest in switching to T-Mobile) I guess I will be siding on the N80 side. At least until a P990a comes out in the States (or a N-series like the N80, but with a decent battery life).
ac: I know it has good soundquality since it has Nokia Xpress Music. Also, people i know with prototypes have reported that the soundquality is very good. It will probably stay like it is for the final version... either imporve, or stay as it is. I know for sure it wont be worse than it currently is.
"Nokia N80i will be coming out in November 2006. It has a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, Bluetooth Version 12.0, Infrared, Mini Vacuum integrated and has a secondary 1.3megapixel camera for 3g calls. N80i will have carl zeiss optics with vibration and
20 x optical zoom. N80i will be available around the world for approximately 550 euros."
Only 1.3 megapixel secondary camera, common, if you are going to stuff up, at least throw in a 3 megapixel secondary camera. Can we also get night vision and x-ray on it? All that with a half hour talk time, and 12 hour stand-by time :)
And you belive Mark? If you do you´re the most stupid man on the planet!
If the phone have 5 inch display it will have dimensions 1m X 1m and it will weight 1kg right? I´m cidding but you wont be able to cary it in you´r pocket, that´s for sure. And what are you going to do with 1,3mp camera for video calls? You wont need it because no phone have a 1,3mp display so the person you are talking to vill see halv or mybe a quater of that. So what´s the point?

I wouldn't be so sure like you on an unreleased product such as its sound quality. But its good to have faith in something which you like 8). Sound on se walkman series are indeed good imo is indeed good as compare to nokia current available models. And indeed as like you said, stereo playback from headset is more important than dual speakers on the phone since mostly will be listening to to thier music using a headset instead of blasting the music out loud in the public.
As overall, n80 is not a bad product. The only drawback will only be its weak battery life and a camera which does not have autofocus function. Talk time of 3 hours is kinda poor and the battery will die even faster if you are using the phone for multimedia purpose or video streaming. And I not sure whether the battery is replaceable by higher mah battery or not. I think all should better hope it can be done. And the 3mp camera is good but without auto focus, I am quite sure the shot taken won't be as clear and sharp as those with autofocus. It is quite a waste for a high mp camera without auto focus function.
Imo, n80 would be a better buy compare to n92. The dvd-h video streaming on n92 is a good feature but I not sure how its availability as well. I don't think the service is available in the place where I am which is in the asian region. And with the extra weight, many will think that its quite bulky, which including me.
Now I just hope that n80 and se p990i would be on sale asap so I can see how both phone performs against each other to decide which 1 to buy. For the moment I would have my choice on the se p990i
This phone is really good. It has a lot of features. But the only thing worng with it is it doesn't have a spring for sliding up. I was thinking to get this phone buy then it looked like a toy. So people who like phones that slide up with a spring don't buy this phone
San: N80 has mono speaker, N92 has stereo speakers. What I'm saying is that stereospeakers is basically the same thing as monospeakers since you cant get the stereo effect through speakers that are right next to eachother. Both phones support stereo through the headset though (which is NOT useless! That's VERY important).
N80 will have (pretty much) the same soundquality as SE K750i,W800i,W810i. I havn't heard how these sound though... All I know is that N80 has near CD quality. In other words, VERY good. But you should use a headset other than the one which comes with the phone.
I'm on N80's side btw. Though I'm not really trying to talk bad about N92, since it's an awesome device as well. I'm just saying that N80 is a better choice since it has more features and its smaller too. N92 has tv and thats nice and all, but N80 also has tv through 3G + alot better features overall.
Thank you for trusting me :) I've done alot of research on this phone since when it first got announced by nokia and I know quite alot about it. It will be my next phoe as well. It's certainly a safe bet. And don't belive people that talk bad about this phone. 100% of it is prototype stuff that will be fixed (like cameraquality etc.).
