I've got a N80 and I gave it in 3 times in the last year for software upgrades.I'll nerver make use of the Nokia N-series again.
bin usin dis phone 4 4 monfz n0w n n0 pr0blem wat s0 eva .... yea batry abit sh0rt but charge it evry nite n im a heavy user n it lastz me 24hrz ... all round a gr8 phone
Hi everyone. i have the N80 for more than a year and i must say the n80 is a brilliant phone as far as the applications/software are concerned. the design lacks a bit i must admit. it is a bit bulky and heavy but there are not many phone around which outrun the n80. you can download lot of applications and there is always something new to learn. the web browsing is brilliant and the whole concept of the phone is spectacular.i wish the n81 had a better camera, then i would definitely change for it. i think that i am going to change for the P1i because i heard not many good things about the n95. thanks
I am of aveiro portugal and my english is a bit weak so, before more, sorry ...
I have a n80 and personally i love my phone.
It has good things and bad things and for me the good beet the bad .
Now, I am annoyed with the nokia, nokia service.
My n80 has clearances of 2/3mm in sides and 1/2mm up / down.
do you think this is normal? I think not,but the boy in nokia service think yes. including badly treated me and said that the phone was good and that it would not do anything ... (i left the phone there in the same)
believe this? A phone is not just hardware and software, is also pos sale,am i right? I in this case im very bad served with nokia...
A phone considered by own nokia as top range or luxury has many weak construction, and the worse is that they fell this is normal...
I accept a small loose, after all is a slider phone but in the state of mine, the technicians say that the phone is good and that is normal ?!?!?
I am sad because of this situation and to tell the truth I am beginning to think that i am olone in this issue.
is that true? What do you think?
some parts were translate in google translate...please try to understand...
So,i'm thinking of getting the N81 then.It would be my 1st Nokia phone.
Have a nice day,and thanks again.
I just bought this phone and have to say its the worst model nokia ever. The battery is very poor.. lucky to get 24hrs before having to recharge it and thats not using bluetooth or internet. The slider is way too loose and opens easily when in pocket or in bag and unlocks automatically when slider opens.... very poor design by nokia. I absolutely do not recommend this phone.
extremely ugly on the design!!! y dont u follow the SE's? has WLAn though...
@ Desiree,no problem mate :-)
If i were you i would take the N80 and get its firmware updated immediatly, but i would rather take the N81-8GB since you may find the N80 battery is pretty weak especialy when browsing big Web sites using 3G Or WiFi. The N81 is a lot newer, LOUD, supports the new N-Gage platform, WiFi, has a better battery and realy looks good, it shouldn't be too expensive. The problem with P1 is that there isn't a lot of Software (applications) out for it and all-in-all just not better than Nokia Nseries and Eseries phones.
But i still havent decided yet what to get.
Its so hard to make decisions.
If you were me,which one do you want?
Thanks again mate.
Well if you want more RAM, Touchscreen, and better Camera then get a P1
otherwise N80 has a MUCH better screen, higher resolution N80- 352x416 whereas P1-240x320. The N80 is louder and its speaker is on the side so you can listen to it while it lies on its back unlike the P1 where the speaker is at the back. N80 also got A LOT more apps than P1. Its also shorter, but thicker and heavier. The N80 supports both WiFi (b) and (g) whereas P1 only has (b)-which is the older version. The N80 also has BOTH 3G and EDGE whereas P1 only has 3G. So take your pick!
I bought this phone 12/2006,at first it was brilliant but today it useless becoz the sliding mechanisme fault. Screen goes blank & cant use anymore. I'm dissapointed & I think slide phone is not reliable. Now I use motorola A780 & it much cheaper, faster processor, more stable OS-Linux smartphone, bigger RAM size & bigger touch screen.
Has Nokia discontinued firmware updates for the N80? Or is there another update in the works?
A nice phone as far as wifi access is concerned. Poor camera quality and a bit bulky. The good thing about it is that you can download java and symbian applications and open them despite tmobiles policy to block them. Mini opera works very nice and clear.
You should download the SMS Accelerator from the nokia website. http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/apac/phones/software/sms_accelerator.sis
This phone doesn't have a headphone jack, but comes with a connector which is also is used as a radio antenna..
