hmmmm. So its hard for you to use the fon in normal positions.Because you didnot bought the fon from a authorized dealer so you can not replace it.
Have you tried a good bluetooth headset? It will not be the same but it's good alternative.
After updating my fone to the latest sw version, i dont see any improvement on the signal. signal-drop problem still exists. I'm so disappointed about this phone. It has a bad design.
when im using a memory card reader to put files on the stock 2gb memory card of my n81, there`s a message that pops up saying that my memory card is disk protected, that either i remove the write protect or use another disk.. i checked my memory card & it doesn`t have any passwords on it..
how can i put files on my memory card using a memory card reader considering the aforementioned dilemma..
hope anyone can help me..
I think this handphone is awesome..
Just bought it...
This phone is hot!!!!!!!!!
It is way better than my old 5610!!!
You should buy it...
You won't regret it!!!!!
I think this is a gr8 fone... i just want to know is there any differnence between the 8gig and the standard
i dont think updating the fw will solve abcd`s problem. i mean it`s a hardware problem not a software problem.. just my two cents though..
I checked nokiausa website. They have antivirus, PC suit, media player softwares...but they don't have any software or firmware update for this signal problem....:(
I know because before the N81 was released NOKIA had to delay it because they were having problems with the location of the antenna and signal.
Go to the NOKIA website and download NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER.
seems like the heat from the palm of my hand causes the antenna to lose signal. If you leave the fone on the table, the signal on the phone picks up again. I called nokia repair service and complain about this problem. They told me that's the way it's design and my hand shouldn't cover the antenna when using the phone.... :(
darn! i have the same thing on my phone.. that explains why my signal falls to zero when im holding my phone in my room... :c
when you remove the battery cover, you notice a somewhat gold plated rectangle just below the battery, in the same area where the antenna is located?
The store won't let me exchange for the phone. This store is not authorized nokia dealer...How do u know this is the problem nokia experienced. How do u get the firmware update?
okays. thanks Tsepz. most prolly i'll be getting this phone already. cant wait. :)
You may do a software update but i suggest taking it back to where you got it and tell them the prob, they should gv you a replacement.
thanks.. is there anyway that i can fix this problem? a firmware upgrade maybe?
N81 has better sound than 5700.
Haven't experienced that, mine is working well, great signal. What you are experiencing is what NOKIA experienced with it when it was in testing before release.
Holding the phone normally, as if you were texting or using the keypad, caused the phone's signal to drop considerably from full to 1 or 0. Upon removing the battery door did I notice that the antenna was exposed and placed directly where your hand would go if you were to use the phone. Holding the phone from a part away from the antenna or by just my fingertips, I was able to text and make call without any loss in signal, but upon placing my hand in the proper position, the signal would drop in seconds right in front of me. Definitely it's the phone problem because my previous phone, Samsung, got great signal receptions in same area and same service provider. Did anyone get this same problem?
