Q: usually, where do they announce the firmware update?
A: install the latest Nokia PC Suite on your PC then click the update phone software icon. if you haven't installed the Nokia Software updater yet then you will be told to do so, download and install. After the installation, connect your phone to your pc using the nokia connectivity cable then run the application, you don't have to finish the whole update process, just check if you're phone has the latest firmware.
Q: for the emtube, i have looked at it and trying to figure out how to put it on the mobile. any hints?
A: if you have already installed Nokia PC Suite on your pc then just click the .sis file that you have just saved on your desktop then follow the instructions on your pc screen and at your phone. After installation the application will be found at the applications folder.
Q: also, i hear putting on non-nokia/symbian software may crash the phone OS? is it true?
A: NOP! Not on our N82. I have installed a lot of applications already and my phone still performs flawless.
n95 and n82 are virtuly same.. except tht n95 has biger screen to b exact .2 inch biger.. n82 has more ram, xenon flash , candy bar and is slim :p .. if u like sliders and a bit biger screen and few good multimedia keys then go for n95 and if u like candybars and if u like to stuff apps in ur mobile then go for n82.. and ofcourse n82 is king of mobile photography :)
Check out my own review of the N82 and N95 8gb here:http://mobile.tipidpc.com/viewtopic.php?tid=1649&page=1

also, i hear putting on non-nokia/symbian software may crash the phone OS? is it true? dont want to take the chance at this moment.
awesome phone, i dont know who has been complaining of the stereo sound, but its very very good, as good as the 6233!
its good to be back on the discussion table.
As I told earlier, I am using the set for more than 15 days now. It is really wonderful and handy while capturing intresting moments. Great show NOkia....
I want advise from all extensive users- on what all additional features can be uploaded.
Also guidance on Voice commands.
All users have a wonderful time...
if you're going to ask me, of course N82! Tried and Tested. But i don't want to be bias here, that's why i'll give you a link (a forum actually) that has an on-going debate on who's the best between N82 & N95 8GB. Good Luck!
We can't watch youtube movies yet directly from our phone coz it doesn't have flash lite 3, but future firmware upgrade will do. In the meantime you can use the application called emTube.
Here's the link for download:
Thanks to symbian-freak. Enjoy!
Well i am planning to buy this phone very soon, can anybody on the site help me telling, that is N95 a beeter option or this one???

just got it yesterday and its a tremendous phone upgrade from my sturdy but ugly 6233.
just hope my phone wont crash! the picture taking is awesome...
coma and savor please help if you guys can!
To nokia recycler, roger and all those who keep on saying that N82 crashes, hangs, restarts and etc. I think this are the nokia phones that you are using and not the superior N82.
Why don't you just come out of your cave and buy a new one. BTW, link picture taken by my silver snapper N82.
The real problem here is some people are looking for the ultimate perfect phone. There is no such thing coz even Steve Jobs' very famous Macs have their own share of glitches. Let us be realistic and factual here and biases towards other brands aren't too welcome here. Again, this is supposed to be a review thread not a Nokia bashing forum. ;)
I think that there is no doubt about nokia devices, but watch for the other version of n82
with chines english/chines keypad because that model have problem with the microphone be careful otherway the nokia n82 it's cool model
if u need any answers write me on email@example.com ciao
To answer your two questions:
You can use MicroSDHC cards, so capacity can go up to 16GB.
You cannot use the Xenon flash as a "light" or torch due to the way xenon lights work. They cannot continually burn for an extended period of time without a constant power source. Short answer, there is no "flashlight" ability.
Why does no one ever reply to my post, yet i always read u guys one. its not fair!!! i'm trying 2 get some info from here and u guys are not seeming 2 provide it here. i want to find out the highest capacity memory card it can take and if the xenon flash can be used as a torch lite in the dark apart from wen using the cam? if u are reading this, pls rply.
Here a pretty funny applecation:
Nice post, ccl. I agree. As much as i luv my N82 and think it is one of the greatest phones ever made, i will remain critical n honest with any problems. Like PCs or anything electronic, all phones do crash. Nothing is built do be perfectly working everyday. An SE phone was going to be my next choice until Nokia added a stronger Xenon n surpassed the SE Kseries in the camera battle. The fact Nokia can go toe to toe with Canon, Casio, Kodak, Olympus, Sony, etc amongst sub-$250 point n shoot cams with a N82 tells me Nokia means business.
j've got N73 for 9 months now and think that NOKIA have made the best phone till now PERIOD
Saving for N82 bye!
No yellowish tones in my pix. Neither purple which was found in N95-1 with no firmware updates. My 7MP Sony DSC-W55 is better in macro mode in darker settings N82 is good outdoors in macro tho. Under default, N82 records brighter videos than W55. Just started using voice recorder. Can record more than 1min. Good for college lectures. At best, this a 5/5 star phone. At worst, no less than 4.5 (90%) stars. Still an A-class phone if there is no such thing as perfection.
You just restablish the fact that how good N82 is as a point and shoot cam.
