it is big and bulky but it does have amazing features.
so it depends what you want. if you want good features and functionality then get it.
if you want sleek and sexy design then dont get it
The only 2 things deterring me from getting this phone is
1) I hear the battery life is horrible
2) IT IS REALLY BIG AND BULKY. IT's THICK AND IT's LONG (DESIGN ISN'T SLEEK AT ALL)
You can say that N82 sucks it's just because you bought a clone one or maybe you just don't know how to do it. LOL...pity you.
@ Karl... There are a few antivirus software for symbian phones. F-secure to name one. Check out http://mosh.nokia.com there are lots of stuff you can download from there. including some free software. I recommend that if you are looking antivirus software you should buy it!
@Stussie and anyone asking about GPS... You can use the GPS as normal GPS device with waypoints etc... Go to menu> tools> connectivity> and in either GPS data and landmarks.
There some cost running GPS ONLY if you purchase voice navigation and other extra features with Nokia GPS. Out of the box usage is free.
@gcm104... Unless, someone develops software to tap into the Xennon then it would be possible.
@ Rakib...sorry to hear that that you had bad experience of this phone. Seems like you were one in every million that was in a batch. I can honestly say that I have experienced this once in my purchase on my N80 but I still wouldnt send it back. I waited for a firmware and it fix my issue. I did however, bought SEw850 for the music capabilities and A2DP but after 1 year and not really using it much I got fed up with it. I'm living in Sweden the home of Ericsson and I still prefer the Nokia.
@ Manir Uzzaman... You can run off the shutter sound by turning off you warning sounds. I don't think you can turn of the AF assist in low light. I noticed that the AF assist does not go on in daylight or bright lights.
I bought this N82 and initially liked it. i used to big up nokia all the time aswell, and was a big nokia fan.
BUT, after a month of having it i realise it is a useless piece of junk. its too big like a brick and kept on freezing. the features of it are advertised as soooo good but in actual fact the camera is rubbish, as is the music player and other functions too.
i have now got rid of it and am the proud new owner of the SE P1i.
excellent business phone. brilliant features
Couple of Questions:
Can the gps be used as a normal gps, like 1. setting waypoints and using it to navigate off road?
2. how do i know which countries does the free nokia maps support?
3. is there any costs involved using the gps, eccept for the voice assistence?
4. is the tv-out cable s-video or AV?
Father Vince, I'm glad and happy that you are very active in this forum, giving advices, comments about this very nice, powerful and "TRANSFORMER-like" N82! I really love this model! No regrets! Very useful! Cool phone! I ran out of adjective to describe this amazing fone!
To my fellow Filipinos, I'm glad you love N82! N82 rules!!!
hi fellow pinoys...
do you know if nokia phones especially this awesome n82 are capable to input chinese characters?
i called up nokia, and said that nokia phones that are warranteed by nokia can input chinese characters. cause i often have to text message using chinese.
will firmware update be able to add this feature?
Is it not possible to switch off the shutter sound and AF assist beam in N82? Please help.
I bought this phone one month ago. It equipped with all the feathers I needed. But some thing that I don't like about this phone are:
1) Key pad - Keypad is too small to press.
2) D Pad - D pad is not so comfortable
3) Camera click sound can't be disabled( even in silent mode)
4) Camera setting for disable the flash can't be saved, so everytime you have to set the flash disable if you want to off the flash.
5) You can't configure the camera red laser beam off and can't save it to disable.
But All other things are good to me, and like it.
im looking for a new mobile and cant decide between the N82 and htc's touch cruise. i am facinated by the capabilities of the N82, but i find the touchscreen and the Windows mobile os of the cruise captivating.
i am a university student whose main uses for a mobile would be browsing the net (using wifi), music, taking photos/videos and showing off my new phone. any advice would be helpful. thanks.

Please don't mention the P5i. That phone is just a copycat of N95 8GB. Only improvements they made are slimmer design and xenon flash.
I would expect build quality won't be better than any other SE phone. Nokia phones are built to last.
I don't know what is up with you people, but N82 is way better then P1. Features all over rule the P1. N82 is the most advanced feature phone.
I own a n82 and love it. never lags
I tested my friend's P1 and I have to say soemthing: HE hates it. I hate the dual fake qwerty key pad. like wtf is that. it's dum. Do a real qwerty or don't do anything.
P1 is getting old. I don't really like the user interface on the P1...
But the P5, now that is something else. Looks like a great phone, but now out yet. Can't wait to see it.
N82 has to be one of the most powerfull phone out there and iPhone one of the more design/innovative phone.
Wow, more pinoys... when I first came to this site few years back there weren't many of us here!!
Glad, we're coming in full force!!! N82 is one of the best phone IMHO. I seriously wonder if Nokia can top this one!!! I really do hope they come out with a better battery life on this. I always out on a look out for cool applications does anyone know of any???
