I'm using N82 for a week now. I have changed from N95 8GB TO N82. As I've used both, i hope my comments will be usefull for you guys.
About N95 8GB
Lovely phone, all features, sliding quality and battery life are perfect. Screen size and quality - awesome. BUT, without Lens Cover, its realy scary that you tend spend more time to take care of the phone rather than using the phone - being such an expensive phone. Black casing attracts dirt very very fast, it realy pains to see your expensive phone gets dirty. Finaly I gave up and went to N82.
Now the real story begins...
Its a solid solid phone - no questions on build quality. It feels very solid in hand. All the keys are very fine to use - onlythings is some people will take some time to get used to it, because it's little tough. The screen size deifference fron N95 8GB realy dont bother me untill unless i compare both side by side.
I agree that there's a need for little more brightness for the screen.
All operations are just fast, all happens in seconds - no problem at all.
Xenon flash realy ROCKS. Battery life is very decent (about 1 - 1.5 days after heavy usage)
Sometimes it get hang and restarts, the camera stopped working all that - very very few times. But this stablity issue hopefully will be addressed in the firmware update.
For people who are very much converned about the money they on their phone = N82 is the ideal choice.
Thanks, Savor, good to read about speakers! The photos, especially ones with the Xenon flash, would beat even some digital cameras (sans optical zoom, true, though)! What about the stability of the d-pad, anyone? It appears a little loose/wobbly. Exact response, though, but how about usage in the long run?
I think it's time for me to flip a coin and let faith decide on which phone i should get, either the N82 or N95-8gb....for those sharing my dillema, it's obvious that we should waite for a Nokia phone that has the screen size and brightness of the N95-8gb and the xenon flash with camera cover of the N82...Up to this time, I have no more use on reading each others thread, believe me I already read all of what the other has to say on this site. (don't believe me?)Well I know for a fact that St_gorge, Junkyskunky, father vince provided the most helpfull review, advice regarding the phones. I had to follow on what they had to say co'z I too am Filipino.
Anyway, until I see such a phone from Nokia....I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Special tnx to those mentioned above, though it did not make me decide which unit to get, it made me know which phone I should be looking forward to from nokia!.
So for all those flipping coins and still deciding, I think we should be more patient and waite on what nokia has yet to offer, besides this year just started!
Cheers to all Nokia users!
7650 is still the best slide design phone amongst the nokia phones, be it n95, n80, n81. nokia please come out a new phone with the same design as 7650 but with all the good features. thanks pal
Guyz, I would like to know whether this phone will suit gals. also i like to use this as webcam. pls help me.
@Savor - Read the comment by "helix" 2 comments after yours then you'll know. :-)
I will give this phone a rating of
Design - 8.5
Features - 9.5
Performance - 9
I never understood the fans of N95 users vs N82 users. They are part of the same NSeries family! Either N95 8GB, N95-3, or N82 and you can't lose. I hear even the N95-1 with the latest firmware still rocks! If we need to gang up, it's the SE fanboys who still believe it is 2006 and think the KSeries is still best cameraphone line in the business. You've been dethroned. =P And lol @ iPhone fanboys if Jobs doubles the memory and adds 3G in MacWorld tomorrow. More iPhone users will get ticked. Nokia is at least getting it mostly right the first time with the N82 at least. Expandable memory opens things up. At the end, getting any of the N95's or N82 and we're still winners. The differences are based on minor preferences. Perhaps iPhone will finally add a 3.2MP cam and FM radio by 2012 based on Apple's minimal updates every year. Nokia is still on another level.
Yes, the speakers are not that well balanced in this phone. It may be because of a software problem. The next software will fix it,atleast i think so.
Mine does not have any problems regarding any other issue.
The built in speakers are not that strong, but if you use good quality headphones the sound will get excellent.
The picture and video quality is something to be proud of as a owner. The xenon flash is very strong. The camera interface is fast enough. The pictures taken looks brilliant on both pc and phone screen.
The keys are not anykind of problem at all for me.
The build quality is great.
The phone interface is fast. This is one of the most fastest symbian phones around.
The call quality and call clearity is superb.
I choose my N82 over N95 8gb because of the candybar shape and the xenon flash. They are both great phones. You wont regret after buying either of them.
Take care guys.
See, there IS someone bash N95 8GB. Some N82 users are just jeolous and trying to convince Xenon > Big screen. Trust me, you'll need a big beautiful screen more than xenon flash most of the time. :-)
Oh did I mention bigger battery juice and louder speaker? :-)
Not sure if a black version is coming but mobilecity has it in pre-order. It would look better without the silverplate instead of changing just the back like they did with the white. I knew about this phone back in Aug when the pix had already been leaked around May. Waited for the announcement until Nov. One of the reasons I didn't get the N82 right away is the foil-like silver faceplate and waited for the price to drop after Christmas. The fingerprint issue no longer is an issue to me if you keep the screen protection on. The looks is an underrated aspect to this phone. You get TV out cables, 2GB card, Wifi, & GPS. For $50-70 more than a K850 and $25 than a Viewty, why not? Manny, do tell if you enjoy it. I'm confident you will if you're coming from an SE, Moto, LG, or Samsung phone. It's built like a workhorse for years to come.
Does anybody know if this phone will be black??? cuz i'd like to buy this phone, so if there will be an another version in black please tell me if not tell me to. to buy this phone
nice 1 Savor
thats it! im getting it. ive been stuck in the middle between se k850 and nokia n82 for the last couple of weeks. going back and forth changing my mind 20 times a day, but now ive done enough research and read enough reviews on both and decided to go for the n82. byeeeee
Via headphones is excellent. Even reception when talking to someone is excellent. Crystal clear and loud. I never had a N73 ME or N95, so I can't compare it to those two when it comes to speakers. I'm listening to FM radio station right now as I type this and it is very clear and fairly loud to me. Just don't put it too loud. If you do get it, hope you enjoy it as much as us. You'll figure out why so many owners are going crazy over it. My only issue before buying this phone was the fingerprint & overall looks which I no longer find an issue at all. It's a beautiful candy bar phone and it feels great in the hands. Trust me, you won't regret buying it if capturing moments in you life is more important than internet browsing or gimmicky/greasy touchscreens. It is bar none the best 5MP cameraphone in the market. A future N82 "8GB" might be released someday like the N85, but why bother when Nokia might eliminate expandable memory & a lens cover?
Oops, I meant "two stereo speakerS" (I am pleased to be still a proud owner of two musically trained ears) :). So, speaker volume issues, anyone?
I try again: has anyone noticed a difference in volume comparing the two stereo speaker on his/her N82? (I forgot to mention, though, that none of this is present through headphones, balance OK that way). Thanks.
