yes
you must have nokia software updater
1. Download and install Nokia Software Updater (this need only be done once).
2.Connect your phone to your PC with a suitable USB cable and open Nokia Software Updater.
3.Follow the on-screen prompts until your update is complete!

I wouldnt ask if i knew what software i needed, i googled several times and came up blank. 3.5ghdspa had a suggestion but it didnt work (tnx 3ghsdpa), so its time to give up. Was worth the try anyway =)

N900 also need software (a widget called FM RDS Notify) to be able to send sms and caller id as RDS text, the mp3/id3 over RDS is possibly preinstalled, i dont remember.

Im considering to use the N900 as MP3 instead, both coz of its 32gig internal storage and better player software and the working RDS text. But N900 is still good for other things, N85 isnt, and N900 has a weaker FM transmitter (also when using app called FM Boost). I dont know eh..
Btw, the RDS text of N900 is cool. In addition to sending id3 to the radio it can also send text messages and the callers number of incoming calls.

I have 2 say, N85 is not a very good buy now, but if you buy used and very cheap then its ok. Juzt stay away from ppl who think its the best phone ever, coz its not, its old and slow already, so make sure the price is accordingly.

n85 king , 20 Dec 2010yes n85 has better camera than n95,n96 and probably than n97Yeah,its true and for me it's the best 5 megapixelcamera phone,it's lens is same as the n86's.Even the n86's camera has 8 megapix,they have both thick carlzeiss lens

on same 7.2mbps capable 3g network
my n85 gives more speed in pc with idm than with samsung wave
both samsung wave and n85 have 3.5g hsdpa 3.6mbps capability
so i guess 2 year older nokia technology beats samsung 2010 3g technology

hi guys (and gurls), got a small problem, im using N85 as MP3 player for the car, through the FM transmitter. But the display of the car stereo says onli NOKIA, not the title/artist of the MP3 played. What can i do to make the N85 send the song title as RDS text? My N900 does this, so surely its possible.
