Well I received my N85 today here is what I think,
Build quality is not the best but better that I expected after reading some comments. the sliding is firmer than N95.
Very fast. actually it felt faster than my N95.
The FM transmitter worked in BMW better than Honda. I was able to listen to my BBC on the satelllite on my car stereo.
Great camera. just like N95.
Gps is like N95.
It's girly and slippery. My wife fell in love with it. she took it away from me.
I love the Symbian 3.2.
Great Battery live.
Over all it's a great phone but I does not the excitment that I had with my N95 2 years ago.
One final thing the blue tooth does not transfer the phone book to the car.
Worst ever Nseries. Kept it for 4 days and sold it off. Loose slider, loose keypad(lower end got scratched due to slider in just 4 days), loose battery cover, poor camera butten. My older n82 was much better. Sold n85 and again bought a new black n82.
Anonymous, 27 Jan 2009it's actually the replacement to the N95 1GB the N79 is the replacement to the N82Excuse me but you dont replace an excellent camera phone with xenon, with a poor camera with dual led even though they both have 5mp.

Great Phone, love it! Have had it for 2 weeks and wow I can't say anything bad about it. I mean I smacked a screen protector on it right away... do it believe me you need to! also the phone is just dependable and I love it. I had a N95 8gb and I like this phone waaay more. fits in your pocket well and is sleek and just works!

n79 doesn't have US 3G so n85 is better if you have a 3G capable carrier...
this phone is smaller and packs more features than the n78 or n95 8gb.
n85? no way ... pls back that up! there is nothing wrong with it at all
i am a n85 user at it is great. the cam is not as good as n82 but hey the difference is minimal and if ur that fussy about slight contrast then buy a dig. cam!
reading below post about texting- i 100% agree. the n82 is so fiddly to txt with old skool buttons which neither look or feel nice. the n85 has the most amazing gaming capabilities. with the double slide i play fifa08 like its on a psp. it is a superb phone- above all it is seriously fast with no lags like the n82 or even the xpress music phone

N82 is 1st of its kind in the nseries with its xenon and excellent camera. Its still nokia's camera phone flagship. It has yet to have a successor. N85? No way.
I'm getting this phone most probably but i want to know how big the memory card is that it comes with.
reading somo posts here look fake. i mean who would write- 'worst phone ever by nokia'? clearly there a lot of jealous people who cant afford it..its slick
n85 is the updated n82. some say n82 is better but they are probably n82 users. i have both and n82 is very hard to txt with...i am a big txter so that swings my vote alone.it generally looks a lot slicker.
cant compare n79 to n85 as never seen it but looking at specs they are fairly similar, comes down to slide or no slide i think
n85 is fantastic would strongly advise whatever your needs
from a biased nokia fan ;)
every1 has different needs and this suits all of mine. i just returned my c905 8mp phone as it was v basic for this one. this is pure class
Some fake opinions (i can tell) ... is making this page smelling sometimes. All i care is, my N85 has been serving me very well. To me its an excellent accesory that could complement one's lifestyle. Ex-N95 user.
ooobama, 25 Jan 2009OLED screen last only 5 years or so, then the colors fade but who will keep a phones for that ... moreHow do u know the OLED can only last for 5 yrs? What abt TFT screen? How is its GPS? Can it display the whole page of photos or graphics with only 80MB of internal memory as compared to 32GB of internal memory in N97

Before I actually purchased this phone, I made researches, read reviews and opinions about this phone.I thougt USD385 its a good price, so I bought it.I kept it for one week, and decided to return it,even though I will have to pay 15% restoking fee.I am very dissapointed.
What I liked the most:
-Excellent dispay quality
-hot swappable memory cards
What I hated the most:
-5MP camera doesn't take good shots indoors with or without flash.I am not happy with the quality of this camera at all.
-Instead of fixing the zooming on a picture, they prefered to remove this feature.
-Voice comands can't be edited with your voice (the phone won't recognize my accent,or my contacts. Ex: Maria is spoken as Mariah.Non english names sounds funny when they are readed by the phone. On one of my previous nokia(6230i) I could record my own voice)
This feature is very important for me when driving.
-you can't delete all contacts at once (or if you can,I couldn't find this feature)
-writing a text message lets you insert objects like music files,pics,videos....but where are the emoticons???
-I couldn't find a master reset option, wich would delete internet history, email settings, maps, contacts, and all other personal information. You have to go manualy to remove them in each submenu(The reset to factory settings feature doesn't do that).
-I don't see the purpose of sliding the phone other than showing the number keys.
-Agree with some reviwers wich said the construction of this phone feels cheap.
-My favorite radio station is on 87.7 The phones frequency starts at 88.1 and up.
-It takes ages to update the music/videos library)
-Several crashes wich require to reboot the device.
As you can see, the most of my concerns are about software.Well, S60 sucks.
But overall, I didn't like this phone. And belive me, am a nokia fan.I had many phones and internet tablets by nokia.I still love nokia. But not the N85
