Educ, 14 Nov 2011just watch,
..millions Indian prepare to welcome the world famous Nokia N9 when it reach the ... moreI think Nokia is gambling that the Lumia will have good sales in India, since too many people there buy phones based on brand instead of functionality. Because thats what most people do, anywhere, and with Nokia maintaining a strong position in India they dont wanna destroy the sales of Lumia, so they hold back on the N9. You have to admit that bad but expensive nokia units have sold well in India, even the super-bad E7 sold well. So its obvious to Nokia that in India they can sell any phone based on their name, Lumia is sure to be a success in India, they cant let N9 ruin that =)
In most other countries Nokia has lost much more marketshare on the high end units, so N9 is needed to regain some sales in the high end, unlike india where Nokia already is a top seller in high end.
In USA i dont know the strategy, but i guess N9 is held back from US market because WinMo used to have good sales in the corporate market there, and they dont wanna confuse the buyers with having two high end operating systems. I dont think the private consumer market is that important for Nokia on the high end units in USA.

Just Download it using Nokia software updater. Its 1.1 Gigs so takes more than hour to install. Its full of bugs. So If you are want the better version wait till December and get it ota. It should be only about 200mb
mak, 14 Nov 2011just in regards to the 1.1 update, i called my carrier crazy johns (in australia) and they sai... moreI called Vodafone Australia and they were surprised that an update was available, the guy I spoke to was asking me for links to the update. He also informed me that everyone in the Technical team was unaware of the update o_O.
My brother called them the next day and he was told that the update is up to Nokia to make it available as it's not a major update -_-.
And like you have done yourself we did call Nokia and they couldn't give us any useful information :(.
just in regards to the 1.1 update, i called my carrier crazy johns (in australia) and they said it's up to nokia to release the update, not them. i also called nokia customer care and they said they said that batches of phones get the update according to when they were released. they couldn't tell me exactly when to expect an update for my product code.
has anyone at all who bought their phone on a contract with a carrier tried to get the update?

There are a few threads on the updating process, including from navifirm. So far though, havent read of anyone who has a contract who flashed & updated successfully or rather any who dared to. Those who did had unlocked phones.
And yes, with PR 1.1 there's the music controls on the screen.

The phone usually lags when i recieve a text or when my browser page has heaps of ads on it. i love how flawlessly emails work on this thing, especially the syncing.. ive never had troubles with it.. i want to update to take advantage of multitasking and music controls.. but seems like i have to wait a while.. how i can last..

There's only a slight lag when all the emails & accounts are syncing. Unless you have hundreds of friends & all are very active in FB. Battery will drain faster if using 3G, wifi is better. Battery life can easily last 1 day, without power saving
The default player can queue the music. For better equaliser, there're some apps like Sigma Player, Music Kloud.
If you want to listen to the youtube music videos without it pausing, there's the Open VIdeo Player.

For videos, files, use Nokia Link.
If this 2 dont work, try scroll back a couple of pages or search in talk maemo.com. They were using Outlook to transfer
Today I played a little bit with a N9. In reality the phone is VERY attractive, Nokia made a GOOD job. It's slim, it's not too big. The UI looks cool. I think it's worth to buy it(at least the 16 GB version), because the phone as I know will have support. It's too sad that Meego is dead. Meego should be bought by HTC. :>
..millions Indian prepare to welcome the world famous Nokia N9 when it reach the county, readying to buy it at any cost.
So sad , their half brother Lumias when launch on 16th November 2011,
peoples will look down upon it.
pavel, 14 Nov 2011you dont know what are you talking about, you have to see try and than talk here such stuff,in ... moreAnd is there any reason why that would be apart from being misled by a marketing term? To be honest, iPhone 4 and 4S display uses old LCD technology compared to most smartphones that have been released in the past 2 years. The pixel density is pretty meaningless in real world situations compared to 480x800 on 4.0" displays. LCD displays that is used by Apple requires a backlighting which can be from either cathode or LED whereas AMOLED pixels provide their own backlight hence it is bright, better contrast (black background makes the screen look like it's off), slimmer, energy efficient especially considering the limited battery charge on phones, this can be immensely helpful and the response time has also shown to be better than TFT-LCD.
Now those are actual reasons why AMOLED is better than LCD screens unlike like your blatant, groundless fanboism.
