The way I see it, if you want a better OS, go with the N9. If you want to have a better future and ecosystem, go with the Nokia 800 which looks like the N9's twin but with WP7.

N9 was about three years too late. Had this been released around 2008 about a month before Android/G1 been released, then the story would be alot different. There would be no downfall for Nokia or watching them sell themselves to Microsoft's WP7. It would be a battle between Nokia vs Apple for the premium end, but Nokia would still win in volume sales because they cover the entire spectrum of prices while Apple wins in profit margins. This phone should have been what the N97 could have been. But Nokia got complacent after their N95 success and wasn't fast enough to catch the touchscreen race or develop their own app ecosystem like Apple did when Nokia still had Symbian. They were acting just like RIM. Resting on their laurels. No changes to Symbian. Still used resistive touchscreens with an OS that was laggy and looked dated. Fairly slow CPU speeds. Nokia also never tried to cater to the American market even when their N-Series sales were at their peak globally. If Americans wanted a Nokia, you would have to get it unlocked to a get a premium one or get a cheap prepaid one. The mobile OS is now ruled by American companies thanks to Apple, Google, and Microsoft. But Nokia never changed their old ways and ignored us. Even the N9 has no plans to be released in the U.S.

For the diehard Nokians, this is their final hurrah as the company we know them. Many great things and people die young. Everyone from rock stars dying at 27 to Steve Jobs at 56. Life is too short. N9 can die young like James Dean's Hollywood career, but their star will shine brighter now that they are gone. You want design and software made by Nokia at its finest, N9 is it. A "cult classic"in the making like what the Sega Dreamcast, Google Nexus One, or Palm's webOS had become. Now Nokia will be just another WP7 OEM with "THE TROJAN ONE" named Stephen Elop in charge.

You can almost tell that this Nokia N9 will become a "cult classic" among diehard Nokians just like the Nexus One was to Google fans or even the next iPhone can be because it is being regarded as SJ's final major project.

Nokia N9 - A culmination of 140+ years of their history. The crowning achievement of their N-Series phones. If you are a true fan of Nokia or just a purist, get this phone. Nokia hardware and software put together.

Nokia is giving us unibody polycarbonate with a phone and OS that should have come out about three years ago. Motorola is giving us KEVLAR and splash resistance to resurrect their RAZR line.

A toast to Motorola and Nokia, the early pioneers of cell phone technology. The ones that came before Apple, Google, and Microsoft. The latter two practically has taken over each of them. The first call in a handheld mobile phone came from Motorola. Nokia's first phone was released in 1982, years before Apple ever released an iPhone. Both had their time to shine. A time when phones still had GREAT reception and were meant to be used as phones. Even Apple can't beat either two in that regard.

Respect the pioneers. Respect the classics.

I have not bought any nokia phones as I have given up on them a while back and once in a while would buy a nokia qwerty phone only to return it soon after cause just hated symbian. I have gotten bored of my iPhone and htc's which seem to have a new one daily got bored of the same look. I took the risk and bought the nokia n9 in black. Besides it looking stunning once I got used to how to use it it's actually an easy and fantastic
Phone as I am bored of the android software also. Hope nokia continues on this line of phones and gets rid of the cheap quality phone and image they have recently seemed to have gotten.

I am gonna sale my iphone 4 to get this Nokia N9.If Nokia leaves away MeeGo it`s the most stupid thing they will do ever in they`re whole company history.MeeGo it`s the best rival for iOS.If they support MeeGo they have a BIG...very big chance to become again the Number 1 in smartphones sale.Everyone says to me that MeeGo it`s far better than they`re iOS from they`re iphone 4`s.So Nokia : Leave intel away and go for Linux based MeeGo because this is how you will be Number 1.

I'm not sure what you mean by landscape app, but some of the improvements are coming in the PR1.1 update(which the N950 owners already received)
