Anonymous, 19 Oct 2011it bugs me to see people who WOULDN'T BUY this phone come here complaining this and that blah ... moreSo agree with u... mostly dis person still not using N9.. I don't care if u want to comment how terrible.. how suck dis phone.. but better all of you buy it 1st.. then you can drop your comment here..
We all knew that SGS and SGS2 has bad displays, coz of the strong blue tint, i consider that a defect. But N9 has a pink tint! Especially at full brightness. Now i know we dont need to use full brightness on this fone unless we are outdoors in very strong daylight, but this is to much of a defect.
SLCD on sony ericsson and HTC are really the better displays, AMOLED is so immature, need many years before its acceptable color reproduction, both Nokia and samsung has yet to launch a AMOLED fone with good color reproduction. All are defective! But maybe i get a N9 anyway, if the pink tint is invisible on medium and low brightnes settings.
Edit: Comment from the author, "Yes, you can still get it up to the point where it’s similar to the SGS2 [brightness] without the pink tinge. But not brighter without it unfortunately. N9 requires a more granular brightness control" than now that’s for sure."
Windstorm, 21 Oct 2011Nokia !!! get permission from your Master MICROSOFT to produce atleast 1 to 2 Nokia N9(MEEGO) ... moreoh really? Its ANDROID who need Microsofts permission. Or did u miss the fact that HTC pay around $20 to microsoft for each android unit sold? And that Samsung also pays, presumably less than HTC but still they pay for each Android unit they sell. MeeGo is true opensource and has no royalties to anyone. Its the real deal.
AnonD-22393, 21 Oct 2011Oh seriously! The great androiud ice-cream-sandwitch comes, and what it copies form Symbian is,... moreok, r u serious, android ICS has multitasking?? Can u close an app directly from the OS? Can u decide wat apps stays open and not?
I believe it when i see it, im pretty sure that Android will NEVER have multitasking or user control over running apps.
i got my mobile yesterday but after its fully charged in the battery option its showing 5 n half hours of talk time for 2g but as motioned on the site it should be 11 hours im really worried
i have always loved nokia... i have been using the N8..and its ust wonderful..and yesterday i just saw the Black version on N9!!!...one thing for sure is that i'll have to get, esp the 64GB one!!
oracle, 20 Oct 2011Nokia is falling way behind the race of SmartPhones. They would have to come up with a better ... moreOh seriously! The great androiud ice-cream-sandwitch comes, and what it copies form Symbian is,
face detection and panorama mode
How shameless of google.
On top of that droid fans are so shallow and ignorant that they fight for virus infested android, and show their stupidity by calling others names.
corey327, 20 Oct 2011Hi from Australia , I now own a Black Nokia N9 16GB since 14-10-2011. $636.00 outright.
This ... moreDid Nokia ever told you to use ovi suit for N9? How ridiculous. The app for n9 is "nokia link",which u can download from following link.
I too switched from SGS2 to N9.And it is so refreshing to use N9 with true multitasking.the same old nokia quality feel.(Earler had C7,then switched to SGS2,but terrible decision that was.huh!).To the question what happens to my sgs2,gave it to my bro.Afterall android is kid's plaything.
Nokia !!! get permission from your Master MICROSOFT to produce atleast 1 to 2 Nokia N9(MEEGO) series ..........
for the highest customer demands.
Got the phone now for 3 days straight from Australia as Nokia is not available in Japan. Got the phone as I have been a user of iOS and Android for a few years now, but wanted something different. Love the design of the phone, love the smoothness, of the OS, no lag at all, love the swiping (when I use my Android now I get irritated as it doesn't work the same). The phone comes with everything you would ever NEED. Most people WANT other things as well though and if you have a lot of WANTS then this phone might not be for you. I can just say, try the phone and you WILL be blown away.
Love the fact that all messages (SMS, skype, google talk, facebook messages and chat) are bundled in the messages app, no more starting different apps to see your received messages....
Would I want to go back? No way! What will the future bring? Well just hope that Nokia WP is not as big as expected than they might give MeeGo (or whatever it is called then) another try.
You can really feel the swipe-yness of this phone, and I've had my hands on Android and iPhone. A great app you can get on this that you can't on those: store.ovi.com/content/200451
AnonD-26953, 20 Oct 2011MeeGo OS?! OMG. This is so embarrassing to own.Yeah, specially if you're a drone without personality, the best thing is to be exactly like everybody else!
Anonymous, 19 Oct 2011it bugs me to see people who WOULDN'T BUY this phone come here complaining this and that blah ... moreforgive them for they are 14 and think "rooting android" is cool to say. But not to do, they dont do it, they talk about it and thats it. I guess we were the same once, insecure teens going with the flow...
AnonD-26970, 20 Oct 2011should Nokia listened to the people & embrace android, then this could be my phone. Thi... moreAgain, the fact that its not android is the strength of the N9. How boring would it be if it was just "yet another droid without multitasking power". Android is exactly what many of us DONT want, as an 11 months android user im amazed how weak OS it is, i miss my N900 like crazy. Never had the stability problems i seen on android from HTC, Samsung, LG, it always worked, never hanged, never crashed. How many android users can say the same? none i know.
oracle, 20 Oct 2011Nokia is falling way behind the race of SmartPhones. They would have to come up with a better ... morethats your opinion, ok. For me its oposite, im getting N9 to rescue me from the childish OS called Android, the OS with virtually no user control and less multitasking capability with each new version.
Y wud i want Google and HTC to decide which apps or browser tabs stay open, i cant even read new text messages without having my browser tabs closed with Android 2.3, its insane eh, me as the LEGAL OWNER have no control over my open apps??? Is that a good thing in your book oracle? And still i didnt mention the advertising that is the sole reason Google made Android to begin with, and the fact that HTC pay royalties to MICROSOFT for each android fone they make.
sgUser, 19 Oct 2011hey faraz, how is the connection to pc? does it behave like usb drive or it has a software to ... morei think its too early to come up with the best option as i couldnt invest much time on the phone. however i used the latest compatible pc suite instead of ovi. i synced all my contacts with it, but couldnt do the same with my text msgs as i like to keep it. in this case i would say n8 is better. and yes, file browser lets you access the phone with only limited areas of its memory like a usb, as the phone has restricted to user memory for around 10 gb. maps can be downloaded from the phone itself, i downloaded australia and india. i think it does the job that u need.
the third party are very limited but most of them are very useful with great quality. no regrets with the phone so far :)
