We all are really impressed abt the specifications of nokia n9,bt frnds hv u noticed that it has no radio..though nw it's the age of mp3 still i wonder why nokia hi-end phns lacks a imprtnt feature like ths one(previously secndry cam in nokia n7)..isn't it frnds?i am waiting fr ur opinion frnds..thnx..
I wonder, if Meego were to take advantage of a dual-core cpu, would an 800 MHz dual-core be enough or just overkill?
I'm predicting the price here would be around BN$850 sim-free, so it'll be selling like hot cakes compared to the Samsung Galaxy S II and iPhone 4. The only competition for that would be the HTC Sensation which is priced at BN$834.
Oh well, as long as the music player rocks and it's one tough phone, I'll take it.
Anonymous, 09 Jul 2011Why wouldn't you compare phones with other phones? A consumer would want what is best for them... moreI second this. Comparisons needs to be made because consumers would want the best for their criteria.
The only reason I sticked with my C6-00 was because of the music player's versatility and the phone's durability.
[deleted post]Misinterpreted? I doubt it, but just to humor myself let's just say I am.
Still, it would be very foolish if one were to say that Nokia phones are not reliable. I know this from my own experience where my N70 was dropped 11 times and it's still working until today.
You said I misinterpreted, but the fact that you're indirectly saying Nokia's phones are unreliable still shows your ignorance.

Nokia is a finished company..so stop comparing with other major company..

A consumer would want what is best for them and without comparison, everyone might not be buying a phone suitable for their needs. Just because you like this phone doesn't mean others can't compare the specs with other leading brand devices. The Nokia N9 has nice specs but of course they are no 'the best'but it's no point shutting people out by saying 'don't compare this phone with others' (I'm paraphrasing there).

If you read the spec sheet you would have seen it said yes for secondary. Its also visible in the lower right hand corner of the n9 picture on the left of your screen. It has up o 64 gb of internal memory, so I think not having an sd slot is admissible.

Nokia jst made mistake of not puting sec. camera nd lacks eternal memory slot, oh men dats too poor 4 a mere competition in d market, if we jst say SGS2!!!! nd great OS sure too beat IOS, hehehe
it is an awesome phone.. guys don't compare phones with other phones. all are good in there brands... Good Luck Nokia...
AnonD-6399, 09 Jul 2011About the support, we will have to wait and see my friend! But Nokia have multiple OSes to dea... moreHi Kirsten,
The faster the better considering all other things equal, yes. There is the rub. Other things are not equal. It is a different technology stack. Which is why the N9 is buttery smooth, which I can't say for a lot of high specced Androids. Not trolling here but it is definitely the case that Swipe UI on this device is as smooth as iOS or WP7 on the latest devices.
Real world speed perception is not about specs but how fast users can start and restart tasks, and switch between them. Obviousy, because of the UI, the N9 beats the pants of the other devices. I will get from A to B more quicly because of the Swipe paradigm and the stellar multitasking implementation.
Furthermore, besides niceties for marketing, having a dual core processor in Android has exactly di#$-all speed improvements outside of benchmarks. With the total lack of hardware acceleration that is.
And about the apps: Qt. There are already Millions of Qt enabled devices out there, and there will be 150 Million sold still. That is more than the entire active number of iOS devices, with which I just want to point out, it is a big number.
Now, Nokia also said the device will be supported for years and will get OS updates. If what they did for the N900 is any indication, we should be hugely happy about that.
PS, bought my sister a Sammy, but she too now would have preferred the N9.
why did they decrease the Camera mp's instead of increasing them....

About the CPU thing, imo the faster the better! I m not talking about two months from now but I am taking about a year from now. There will be a higher number of devices with better cpu speed and probably even better than dual cores and developers will start focusing on better quality apps, and optimized more for latest devices.
About the screen, well I haven't read what gsm arena wrote about the n9 screen, you might be right on that! =) About the OS, well ye i m completely biased. I liked maemo on the n900 and i was waiting eagerly for meego but now meego has to compete with android and ios which are much more mature! You must also take into account that there are alot of manufacturers producing devices with android and nokia is going to produce only this device with the meego os (correct me if i'm wrong!)

The n9 is going to be supported fully. It would run all apps made for subsequent symbian device.
"Dual Core, Super Amoled + and Android"
If you're of the opinion that a faster processor is always better then it isn't worth the debate. Super amoled is no better than CBAmoled. Infact, the n9 screen is better than the sII screen as it has a higher pixel density. Gsmarena themselves said it to be the best mobile display ever. Android. . . depends on your orientation. I prefer symbian. Someone else could prefer meego. Some wp7.
