The specs are pretty impressive..But i guess its too little too late. They need a long way to go if Nokia intends to catch up with the andriods and iPhone users..However the interface still feels too "Clunky"..Not as smooth as the others

But you wanna bet that when it's available, the pricing will match (and maybe ever more) the pricing of current dual core phones and THAT'S what's wrong...

Like the E7. The cheapest you can find in Belgium is 569 euros (that's +800 dollars!!) and that for a single core 680Mhz with a mere 256 RAM?

Geez Louise, when the former Nokia phones were announced every one complained that they had sub-1ghz and sub-1gb of ram.

Now that the N9 comes out the same, probably, whiners complain that it doesn't have a dual core.

I'm running MeeGo on my 600Mhz single core N900, it is fast like no other business. 1ghz single core is way more than enough for MeeGo.

One of the best features this phone alike many Nokia smartphones has is edge class 33 connectivity. In many markets 3G isn't working properly or has little spread. Hell´, even in the northern parts of "high-tec" Sweden, 3G isn't always reliable. So having edge connection with 3g-like speeds is very valuable, not least to many business people and power users. Samsung Galaxy S II still has the worse edge support, Class 12! What's the deal?!!

The first thing to understand about this phone is that there are no front buttons. The Nokia N9 is so intuitive that a swipe or gesture on the curved 3.9 inch AMOLED display is all you need to navigate through the MeeGo OS. To leave an app and go back to the home screen, the user swipes from the edge of the screen. The phone itself is constructed in a one-piece unibody design with the body made from polycarbonate material to improve antenna reception. Under the hood is a TI OMAP3630 1GHz CPU matched as usual with the PowerVRSGX530 GPU, Nokia's first.

The web browser on the handset is powered by WebKit 2 which means you can access a site even while it is still loading. Switching between open windows on the browser is quick and easy and support for HTML5 allows you to see rich web applications and offers fast video playback, but there is no desktop Adobe Flash support for now from what we are seeing.

On the back of the phone is an 8MP camera featuring Carl Zeiss optics with a super wide 28mm wide lens. The camera on the model is faster than the shooter on any other smartphone says Nokia, and captures video at 720p at 30 fps. Touch-to-focus and continuous aurofocus come standard, too.

The newest Nokia Maps edition is on board to give you free turn by turn directions for walking and driving, without the need to be connected ot the Internet. Also, in 85 major cities, the Nokia N9 will tell you the fastest way to arrive at a location using public transportation. Along the route, there are markings for cafes, hotels, shops and more.

The Nokia N9 is NFC enabled and offers Dolby Headphone and Dolby Digital Plus which makes it the first mobile phone to offer personal surroundsound through headphones. The UI arranges three home views in a carousel. One is an app to launch and organize your apps. The second shows your social feeds and notifications for calls, texts and calendar events. The third view shows all off your live apps and apps that you have recently used. Pinch and zoom to show either 4 or 9 live apps at a time.

The Nokia N9 will be available in three colors, black, cyan and magenta. 16GB and 64GB models will be available. Pricing, carrier availability and a launch date have not been announced, but rumors are that it will be available in about a month from now. Has Nokia completed a long Hail Mary pass? Certainly the no button look has a definite sexiness to it. What do you think? Is this a phone that you would consider buying? Let us know your thoughts by writing in the comment box below.

will not be available in india. There is no official word but the
company’s European website doesn’t feature India in the list of 23 countries
where Nokia will inform customers about
the availability of N9 ahead of its launch. The alleged limited availability fits well with predictions of
Eldar Murtazin, a Russian blogger, who wrote on his
website that Nokia would make only 92,000 units of N9. According to Murtazin, who in the past had uncannily
announced Nokia-related news — including Nokia- Microsoft deal — in advance, N9 is not aimed at bringing any riches to the Finnish phone maker. Instead, it is just
supposed to make some news to keep Nokia relevant
before its phones based on Windows Phone 7 hit the
                              market.

Umm, the specifications need to be updated, the N9 is reported to indeed have Clear Black Display (CBD) by a few other sites who previewed it, so please add CBD to the screen specs!

As an android user like my self, what are you all needing a Dual-core for? Do we all need that yet?

I just got a single-core 1ghz android and it runs all high-end android apps that are not niche.

Not everyone needs "storage consuming" 1080p video that is useless unless you view it on an 42inch+ TV.

I do think dual-core is the future but is still too early for now. Kind of reminds me when AMD first relesed consumer 64-bit processors that were too early with little to no software support.

Next year we will most likely see more dualcores :)
