You can use wazapp for your friends who are using Whatsapp. Viber friends, you can't. N9 has only one thing which is less than others is,it does not have too many apps. Developers didn't come to this platform because it has only one device and Nokia discontinued MeeGo. But with Sailfish from Jolla I hope more apps will be developed and will be ported to N9 easily

But it has many li... moreI totally agree with you, before buying it i didn't notice this at all, i thought that android, windows, etc all have same apps. But now i came to know this. I really love this mobile but trying to get all apps also so that i can communicate with my other friends via same app like they used to be. I am really thankful to you for your kind reply.

N9 is N9..its a totally different phone..just love the way it is..sad Nokia left it behind..but the community has kept it alive..Hail N9 :D..

Skype comes preinstalled in N9 but it does not support video calls.
Wazapp is an unofficial client of Whatsapp but works fine. Download it from wazapp.im
Viber is not available for N9.

faiza badar, 15 Dec 2012Did anyone try to run ice cream sandwitch in n9. Share your experience. Even Jelly Bean is ported to N9 and can be run. The project called Nitroid. But it has many limitations and its not fully functional. You can use it only for playing games or using a specific app. In my personal opinion if you want to use Android then go buy an android device. N9 is not for you.

/home/user/MyDocs/.downloads or
/home/user/MyDocs/Downloads.
MyDocs is the partition which carries your documents, music etc.

it depends on format too ,ex if u download a pdf file it goes to home/user/MyDocs/Documents

u can download whatsapp (wazzup) just google it or download from store ,i don't know what is u'r problem with n9 even if u want to play stupid android games u can instal nitdroid or wait for jolla to release sailfish sdk then instal sailfish os (it will support android apps and games) and enjoy u'r triple boot phone

o yeah i m sacrificing OTG and 720p full video support compared to 808 PV... i m now ok with it

anonymouse, 14 Dec 2012users in India - how to update it to PR 1.3? anonymouseGo to setting>Applications>Manage Applications and then click on right side icon. It will show u updates for ur n9. U need an internet connection to see those updates. Click on updates and do following. U can update over the air. I suggest u to update using wifi. I also from india and i got my n9 last month and i update to pr 1.3 over the air using wifi.

As it was my first smartphone.but after that i tried to download viber, skype, whats app etc and then i realized difference between android, symbian etc. Even i am unable to find downloaded file from n9 website. Can u plz tell me.
