Why are people coming to the N900 comments to talk about samsung phones? Go to the SAMSUNG section. Come back in here after they release your samsung phones and complain about how samsung stopped supporting their phones and releasing firmware the day it was released.

Ganpat, 16 Feb 2010Ok, I am not sure what the issue was...but I just downloaded the Nokia PC suite, took backup a... moreyou must of not downloaded all the updates cause there was one for 90mb and the new one for 16.7
deep space bar, 16 Feb 2010the process how to do it is on maemo.org i bought this unlocked from someone so it was already done Ok, I am not sure what the issue was...but I just downloaded the Nokia PC suite, took backup and ran the update.... the OS got updated to the latest...I am not sure why the size of update files downloaded were 171.2 MB, though it was listed as 16 odd MB...I guess it might because of installing it through Nokia PC suite. I restored my backup of messages, contacts etc. but I lost the applications which i had installed earlier.
The new OS seems to be faster! Will get back with more.
deep space bar, 16 Feb 2010i have catagories it's good Cool ill check it out once I get my update in about 4 hours ugh
well what can i say about this monster of a phone or should i say internet tablet + phone!
I got it as an upgrade from vodafone and it arrived last friday. first of all its best to update the device when you turn it on the 1st time. i didn't and it crashed on me! after the update (which i did while the phone was connected to the wifi!) the phone worked really smooth indeed and what a phone it is. its got a WVGA screen (very bright screen) and with 4 home screens there's endless numbers of widgets, short cuts, contacts, applets, and bookmarks you can have. there's even an applet to turn your LED flash into a torch!!!!! that's right a TORCH! and yes it works a dream, so try it out!
I was first using the N97 before deciding to change to the N900 and wow! how different it is! it really is a mini laptop and everything works a dream and so smoothly! for those that aren't up for a challenge or the faint hearted....stay well clear of this phone cos theres more to this phone than meets the eye! email is real easy to setup and you've also got the weather widget similar to the N97. It happily connects to your wifi at home and stays connected until you disconnect it or it goes out of range. The number of applications i've downloaded are so many applications its unbelievable at times. The web browser is brilliant and i've even downloaded Firefox from here, gsmarena and the widget looks exactly like the one on my laptop (the curled up fox!) and it to works brilliantly! the number of applications you can run at the same time is incredible and it doesn't seem to want to slow down. I had the phones web browser open, google search, firefox, email, conversations, ovi store, maemo select, maps and the apps manager....all open at the same time.
ok the only downsides iv found so far is: the battery is not as good as the one in the N97. With blue tooth on, 3G and email and weather updates and phone calls (1.5 hours) and web browsing using 14MB of data, some texting and downloading programmes the phone lasted 8.5 hours! well I'm very pleased with that considering I hammer this phone on a daily basis! there's are only 2 profiles though.. General and silent!
In my opinion this is the phone the N97 should have been.....I think the N900 is brilliant and has massive potential. i look forward to seeing more Maemo devices like this in the future!
