well if it's your first smartphone and those are your criterias then i would suggest that you go with motorola droid. droid has android which is as user friendly as iphone with app store, capacitive screen, it's getting android 2.1 next week and flash 10.1 soon. so go for it, and it was also named gadget of the year by times magazine; even beating their beloved iphone to fourth place.
N, 10 Feb 2010Thank You V.Much Zaheed fr letin me knw d GooD n BaD points abt d N900. Dis wud b my 1 first ... moreWell the Milestone you mentioned I would have to say would be the best in touch as far as your finger goes because it is capacitive. But the N900's touch is very responsive its going to be very good as well and definately better than the N97's touch. For browser I would say N900 wins. Ive used the Droid and my N900 beats it in my opinion. I also feel the music is very good on the N900. I actually havent had any hangs or lags but some people say they have had it happen. This is all based on my experience with my N900 and I hope it helps. But like they said if it is your first smartphone I would be alittle causous but after a bit with it you should be able to pick up on the new OS.

N900, N97 or MiLESTONE?
N, 10 Feb 2010Zaheed,sergiu,Barcode,deep space bar, ol of u guys..
Pls HELP ME..
i m MAD behind dis phn,it... morei'll boil down the plus and minuses for you:
1. awesome browser
2. superb screen
3. very responsive even though resistive.
4. the only operating system other than mac os which doesn't need to be skinned to be good looking and functional.
5. superb music quality.
6. good quality head phones.
7. 32 gb storage.
8. really simple to download apps, just go to any of the two links ovi or maemo community and press install and it will do the rest. no need to rom or hack or jail break.
9. superb built quality.
10. really good looking.
11. qwerty keyboard is really easy to use once you get used too.
12. four homescreen on which you can put any widget or program shortcuts which has been installed in your phone.
13. spectacular video qua.ity with a lot of codec support.
14. nokia is quick with fw updates.
now lets look at the bads:
1. the set is fat, really fat.
3. keypad has a learning curve.
4. you need to spend some time installing some programs before you can bring this beast to life, i spent 12 hours in a row ;)
5. the music player sometimes stutters like mini hangs.
6. no portrait mode.
7. not that much fuctions to use it as a phone. it's more like a tablet pc.
8. no equalizer.
9. no mms but i guess third party available.
10. same goes about radio.
11. definitely not for one handed use.
12. bttery life not that impressive.
13. no doc editing.
14. limited softwares, but the available ones are really useful and evergrowing.
15. camera and video quality is average.
16. eventhough the os is simple it still has a steep learning curve and i won't suggest anyone to have this phone as their first smartphone.
17. the key type from hardware keypad is not always fo..owed as quickly as other sets like e75 does.
so there you go, i listed all he things i remember, if i missed any or made a mistake then feel free to correct me.
the decision is simple: If you can live with the "bad" part then just take you wallet and go buy the set.
Zaheed, sergiu,Barcode, deep space bar, ol of u guys..

After years of getting having all of the top-tier unlocked phones released with 3G functionality on AT&T network frequency, it's nice to finally have a handset that caters to TMo's 3G frequency. I don't ever remember so much whining coming from TMo users when all of the best handsets were only supplied with AT&T 3G.
Yes, there is USA version of the phone. It's on Tmobile's network and not on AT&T's. AT&T is not the only GSM carrier in the USA.
Grow up please.
Batterymreview for first day?
unplugged the charger on 10 am and now it's 10:30 pm still 10% left.
brightness level 3
time out 30 seconds
have been playing music from 10 to 13 and then from 16 to 22:30
played music with loud speaker for half an hour
browsed for almost 2.5 hours with the micro b browser. facebook and gsmarena but not that much flash heavy sites.
all four of my desktops are jam packed with widgets and shortcuts. and the photo viewer and facebook and ap news all were turned on.
but i kept the cellphone offline for 1 hour but music was playing then too.
talked on gsm for 30 minutes
sent and recieved almost 10 messages.
wrote some comments in facebook and gsmarena
and that will be all
oh and the music playback via headphone was 70% volume. and via speaker it was 100%
summary? the performace is satisfactory, well way better than i expected.
deep space bar, 10 Feb 2010anyone having issues again with their n900 mine now turns off as soon as i slide the keyboard ... moredamn that sucks man. i havent had any issues with my N900 and Ive had it since it came out. you may have a defective one or something.
deep space bar, 10 Feb 2010anyone having issues again with their n900 mine now turns off as soon as i slide the keyboard ... moreit may be because your flex is damaged, you need to replace it with a new one..every slider phone have flex, its like a thin paperlike wire that connects the two devices..if its broken, then the flex that nokia used isnt that strong..that would become a big issue for this phone..
deep space bar, 10 Feb 2010anyone having issues again with their n900 mine now turns off as soon as i slide the keyboard ... morewell that's a weird problem. you should go and check it out with manufacturer's warranty. well mine has a weired problem too, the mp3 files just seem to stutter, itms like mini hangs, it's really irritating and also embarassing infront of friends. any solutions any one?
anyone having issues again with their n900 mine now turns off as soon as i slide the keyboard to unlock might be the battery but it shouldn't be happening anyways
cheku, 10 Feb 2010whats its price?is it better than n97?the price is around 460 euro. and it depends upon your use if this is better or not. if you are a net freak and love to tweak the engine under its hood then this is light years ahead of any competition out there. but if you are relatively new to smart phones and use phones for mainy calls and music and some casual browsing then n97 is better for you!
Sergiu, 09 Feb 2010I have the N900 for 2 days now. This is the best Mobile computer that can make calls from the w... moreare you nuts or something? who said anything about milestone? atleast i didn't.
and abot the crashing yes the phone crashes if it is with the initial firmware update. but after installing both the updates this hasn't crashed even once for 18 hours, out of which i spent 12 hours spending time downloading all the necessary apps from maemo community.
just becuase your one didn't crash that doesn't mean that everyone else is a liar.
i've been writing in the forums from way back using my n79's and 5800 and e75. i'm also a nokia fan but unlike you i'm not a fanboy. when reviewing something or reading some reviews atleast have some open mind to take criticism.
i'm typing with this set now at if it was allowed the i would have even posted my imei no. here to prove that i'm not bluffing.
the set is fantastic and that's why i bought it with hard earned money over other super phones that i was considering(nexus one, hd2 and omnia hd). all of them cost less than this in my country but i still bought this because i made a research for two months searching for phones. so from now on when i speak, you can be sure that i'm not bluffing.
Anonymous, 09 Feb 2010Nokia N900 will release USA version.nokia already has a international version which works in the USA and in canada on Tmobile and WINDmobile AT&T is garbage and making one one universal phone is much better then making
people that complain this that this phone is not 3g compatible with AT&T shut up please cause N900 is still a US phone
TmobileUSA is in the US so therefore it being a US compatible mobile
