How does it work with AGPS disabled? Approximately how long does it take to find your location without AGPS? Thanks.
N900owner, 05 Feb 2010The N900 is very well built with a solid OS. I have not had any glitches other than a few ins... moreThanks for that. Doesn't sound too bad IMHO, certainly not deal-breakers for me. I think occasional crashes/frozen screens are to be expected from any phone. Maemo 5 is still one generation away from completion, so it's only natural that Nokia haven't ironed out all the wrinkles yet. But as long as it's reliable and stable as a whole, I don't mind a couple of minor inconveniences or bugs. Will be ordering my N900 from Amazon next week. Can't wait!
Billy, 05 Feb 2010Hi, what software issues exactly are you talking about? I'm thinking of getting this, so just ... moreThe N900 is very well built with a solid OS. I have not had any glitches other than a few instances where the new firefox 1.0 browser crashed or a game I downloaded froze. Small bugs I've faced include resetting of the theme to the default every time the system is rebooted and I had some trouble getting album artwork to show up for some music files. Another annoyance is the inability to use the volume rocker when the phone is in sleep mode in your pocket, and the browser window needs to be minimized in order to control the volume of a flash video because the rocker controls zooming when the browser is in focus. The secondary camera is also pretty fuzzy at the moment. Thats about it for now, can't wait for firmware updates.
alex, 05 Feb 2010Hi guys, I'm looking to buy this phone, but I want to ask about the battery power, did htc mag... moreI can't speak for the HTC Magic (have never used one), but I would put the N900's battery life somewhere on par with the iphone 3gs's. I haven't done any tests or anything, but my N900 lasts me a little over a day with moderate usage. I think that's pretty reasonable considering what this phone is able to do. Remember also that the iphone doesn't multitask (unless you jailbreak it) and the N900 does, so naturally it should eat up more battery. My brother who has the 3gs also needs to charge it daily with similar use to mine.

I'm thinking of getting this, so just want to know exactly what software problems I may run into. I don't mind a bug or two if they are fairly minor (eg. my N97 had an alarm clock bug where the alarm would go off a couple of minutes after the time I set), as long as the phone as a whole is generally stable. From what I can read on this website about most N900 owners' experiences and other online users and critic reviews, this phone doesn't seem to have too many problems in terms of software bugs/instability. Of course some handsets may be defective (which is normal with any batch of products), but I don't get the impression that it's a high percentage of phones.
Hi, I've owned the N900 since late December 2009. The battery life is very respectable for such a powerhouse. I usually get anywhere from one and a half to three days out of one charge depending on my usage. Surprisingly it doesnt feel like playing video with onboard speakers uses a lot of power. It ran out of batteries with one day's worth of usage a few times but overall it has been very reliable. A huge upgrade from my power hungry N80.
N, 04 Feb 2010in Mumbai Nokia N900 is being sold without bill. i.e. without Guaranty n Warranty.

Hi guys, I'm looking to buy this phone, but I want to ask about the battery power, did htc magic or iphone 3GS battery is still better than this nokia n900?

Nick, 04 Feb 2010Youre a programmer so that means you know about everything technical does it?? Laughable, by t... moreso what if i use the wrong grammar or words, more important is that i know the weakness of the os of the nokia n900..dont talk that you know all,its my field as a programmer to say the reality about its os..unless you do know more than what i had said then prove it..
I have lost count the amount of phones i have owned. My usual turn around ws bout every 6 months. Mt last phone was an iphone 3gs. I have to say quite honestly that this is the first phone i have bought which i am completely satisfied with in all criteria . Its UI is so simple to use. The browser, now that i can use the latest firefox is lightening fast on par with the the 3gs, and dispalys all flash content. Once again the browser is a joy to use. The phone features are all there. Once again all intuitive and easy to use. The camera and video are very good. The built quality is rock solid. The keyboard which some of you guys have doubts about is excellent and very easy to use, do not let its size fool you.The quality of the mp3 player is very good . The only thing that can be improved and most likely will be is the OVI maps which is the version 1 instead of the latest with voice guiding.
All in all by far the best and the most enjoyable phone i have ever used. It simply does everything really well. I am now a full convert to Maemo.

I was all for buying one of these to replace my aging Nokia E90 but one viewing one my initial thought was, "what use is this" the keyboard is tiny and you really couldnt type much on it. Who cares about the spec if its difficult to use. A bigger phone please Nokia.
Abram Abesamis, 04 Feb 2010I wish if this phone has a successor,I want it to be like this (if possible):

rav, 04 Feb 2010Hi guys just spoke to Vodafone U.K network providers for N900, the phone has been discontinued... moreReally? That's strange because it's still on the Vodafone UK website. Unless they just discontinued it in the last day or two, I think you have your facts wrong. It's actually one of the most popular phones when you browse the "mobile phones" section.
I love this phone, have had it for two months now and have really enjoyed it a lot. Its definitely a love or hate phone.
did they update the software for portraight mode?
this phone a flop - likely not but this phone isnt for the mass consumers.
