Ammado, 22 Jan 2010I'm using this mini-PC now for a week. Most of the problems I faced was because of my little k... moreyah! linux is an open source os.
You're right! it needs a lot of improvements or you can even change the phone's os if you wish.
But if you're a bit patient, you can wait for the updates of this os, maybe the features that you want from this os will be available soon, otherwise go to the "linux's website" and make a comment (or a feedback) about it's "features".
note:it's not the phone that has the problems, but the os itself!
*phone specs are very impressive!
Best phone by far! It is a beast! Multitasking, flash broswer, VNC, good camera , 32gb of hard drive, 1gb for apps, wonderful keyboard, SNES/MAME emulation, open source (everyboday can write a program for it), Sygic will be supported for GPS navigation, excellent screen.....I can go on forever!.....If you need a phone forget about the rest, THIS IS THE PHONE TO BUY AT THE MOMENT!
I'm using this mini-PC now for a week. Most of the problems I faced was because of my little knowledge about thee Maemo OS. But still there are some serious issues that I want to raise.
First, the file manager has no marking (selecting multiple files at once), and no sending option (Can be added by 3rd party application). And that annoying thing of having default folders that cannot be removed or renamed.
Second, the music player has no equalizer (not yet available by any 3rd party application, and I don't know if that is possible. Also, no song/album details (Like artist name, genre, or album art) change or even see.
Third, the camera interface is so poor. No color tone, no video scene modes, no panoramic view, no self timer, no sharpness or contrast settings. Nothing at all.
Forth, the portrait mode in the web browser (in the Jan update) is really useless. I'm not one of those demanding the portrait mode to be a basic feature in the device, but if it exists I need it to be functional and useful. There's no panning at all in the web portrait mode, and no controls to the web page (no address bar, no history or "back" key, there's no buttons at all. Like when I'm in that mode I just read and press links in the page I'm currently in.
Still, the device is good and fast. It provides the most perfect web experience, and multitasking power. It's beautiful "for me" in it's looks, and easy to use. All the common objections for others were well known to me before I bought the device and I accepted them all. But I think it needs a lot of improvements, which I don't think Nokia will do any thing regarding them.
We, users, and developers, who should take care of all of those issues. It's "OPEN SOURCE" OS, isn't it?

Everybody is talking about games, music, video, internet, camera etc... But nobody talks about the call quality of the phone. Remember besides, being an internet tablet, music player, camera, gaming device, it is also a phone. So, somebody plz enlighten me on the call quality of the phone. I have been using Nokia E-71i for the past 3 years. E-71i has been the best phone so far. Now I think the time has come for me to upgrade myself. Honestly, I still cant find a perfect replacement for my 71i. N900 seems an ideal one as a natural upgrade from 71i. So guys plz let me know about the Call quality too.
