Of all the smartphones available, the N900 is the cheapest. Please get your facts right. You are assuming that the best is the most expensive. Wrong. Apples 3gs is by far the most expensive smartphone on the market.
Users, think with common sense.
Better buy a laptop instead of buying this phone for such a high price.
LOL LOL LOL LOL. No one will buy this phone.

yasser, 21 Nov 2009is there microsoft office in this phone? i use the excel sheets and word always is that devi... moreThere is an office viewer on it. I know because I have the phone already and I will say it is the best mobile device out there. I have gone from mobile to mobile (iphone, htc android and nokia) and this is way ahead of competition. It may be bulky but it is a powerful gadget overall.

is that devi... moreOpenOffice and KOffice are availible for free. But MS Office isn't. The good thing about the N900 is the number of alternatives - both for browsing and document editing.
OOo and KO are NOT exactly the same thing, but many people still prefer to use them. I guess it's up to each own to decide.
My advice is to check it out, and if you like it, then you can keep it.
OpenOffice is availible for PC as well - why not download and try it if you like it? It's completely free, and the PC version is identical to the N900 one.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970X10 has a 1.6 years old OS. Get it? (Hint: Android 1.6)
Do you even know why? That's because Google had an exclusive deal with Motorola. Due SE's inability of making their own OS they have ended up with the scraps of the market.
Now, please, stop complaining. The N900 is all about the innovative software. The hardware is good - I agree - but it's only there to provide and enable all the features it has. For example, there is no projector, since Maemo doesn't support it anyway. But it does have a stronghold of a CPU to enable extreme multi-tasking.
On the other side, the CPU isn't clocked at 1GHz - but why should it be? Is there any other phone with better multi-tasking possibilities? This would only lead to a loss of battery. Remember, performance is a combination of hardware AND software - and very few phones deliver on BOTH sides.
Phones can have crappy hardware (see the N97), crappy software (see the X10) or both (see the LG Crystal) - but keep in mind that there actually are SOME crown jewels (a.k.a. exceptions of this rule) as well. N900, N95 and possibly Omnia HD are some of the few examples - while the X10 isn't.

omac, 20 Nov 2009Concerning the processin power gsmarena, I notice the n900 & the iphone uses the same ARM CORT... moreI think that the 600MHz OMAP3 is by far more powerful than the 1GHz Snapdragon.
Why? Because the N900 can have 30+ apps open at the same time, while the Snapdragon-equipped HTC HD2 simply can't. That's why.
1.5 mill hits and counting... not bad for the first phone with a new OS!
stavros, 21 Nov 2009I would like to see some photos comparing the 5mp camera of N900 and satio... I know that sati... moreDon't buy the Satio - In the UK they have already been withdrawn. It was released too early and there are all sorts of problems. This is why Nokia is a better company. So they delayed it a couple of times but they're getting it right for US the consumer!
stavros, 21 Nov 2009want to know if i can use front camera with skype and other web app....Yes. Please tell us all you who've already got their N900's does the from cam support Skype video calls?
want to know if i can use front camera with skype and other web app....
I would like to see some photos comparing the 5mp camera of N900 and satio... I know that satio is comparing with N97 and N900 maybe with XPERIA cause the OS.... but with these photos you will show clearly the ability of N900 camera...
N900 is just perfect except of its camera... and that cause ericsson produced satio with 12mp... and everyone make this comparison...
I bought Nokia 7610 5 years ago... at the same price as N900 price.(500 euro) It was the second Nokia using Sympian os and was the first 1mp phone...
All these 5 years, watching the sympian phones around i was feeling that my phone was just ok... cause the def... was only at the cpu and camera and when s60 3rd edition comed around i was not able to run some applications...(the newest versions of the app i was using... i have installed 40 app on it)
So 7610 was a great choice...
I dont know if it will be a mistake to buy N900-maemo, cause it's the first device using this better version of maemo in a normal shape but
i hope Nokia keep update the os... and when the maemo 6 will be available let the older models(N900+...) use the new applications after some pathes.
Maemo 5 is great and with the updates NOKIA will make it perfect before produce other device...
I NEED PHONE NOW AND THE NOKIA N900 IS THE BEST AT THIS PERIOD...
I hope it will be as good as 7610 was 5 years ago.
