You really have to be more of a geek to be into this device than just an average phone user that likes simplicity.

You're just wasting your time comparing the n900 to the iPhone. The n900 is not targeted to mass market, it's a device targeted to developers and people that want Linux on their phone so they can do whatever they want with it. Don't worry, there's no danger for the iPhone, at least for now.
What is really important is what other Maemo devices will follow the n900 in 2010.
It's official!!! Quake 3 on N900 is official!
Anonymous, 12 Oct 2009You do have a keypad, on the touch screen. I see your mind works really really slow. That's a virtual keypad.
Anonymous, 12 Oct 2009When you're driving down the freeway, I do not have time to take out a stylus to make a call. ... more1. Yes, I'm sure you are Mr. Perfect and do everything by the book. Well, most people still do not. If you have problem doing both, learn to drive better.
2. That's your opinion as I've seem many iPhone users have no problems selecting text, inputting text, or have problems navigating though a web page. And yes, zooming is important as well as most web sites are designed with wider then most phones can display.
3. The phone doesn't dial on its own. It is because you pressed on it. So what would you like it to do if not to dial the number?
4. Sensitivity is a bad thing? I really hate pressing stuff two or three times. And it doesn't matter what you call it, feedback, flex, bend, cheap, it's the same thing.
5. We're talking about phones... not kiosks here... get with the program.
6. Irrelevant statement.
a. It doesn't matter what they have the "technology" to do. Their idea is what counts. Nokia and others come out with 5-10 new phones a year... Apple 3 in 3 years. Given the same price range of phones, iPhone outsells anything in its class.
b. Again Irrelevant. If people had the chance to make millions but had to output some pollution, I'm sure lots of people wouldn't think twice to do it. Sad but true.
c. Site the article please.
Name calling and personal attacks does not make you sound intelligent. It makes you the complete opposite of intelligence. And no, I'm not an "iSheep." Only Apple device I own is a iPhone 3G and a first generation Nano (never had the need to upgrade since it works so well). I've had many other types of phones before from Nokia, Ericsson, to Motorola. I've used them all. So far, still like the iPhone the best. Just the apps that are available alone make it a good choice.

Anonymous, 12 Oct 2009Keypad. Ükeypad? If you look again, there is no keypad... there's a keyboard though... and I doubt it'll be any less easy to find dialing buttons on those as any touch phone.
Even if you can dial with the keyboard with one hand, it just won't work... think about it... you need to slide the thing out, then some how manage to hold the phone with one hand while your thumb tries to reach and find the numbers... pretty much an inconvenient task at best. With your right hand, I doubt anyone's thumb is that long... so another fail comment...
Rick, 12 Oct 2009Sorry, no. Resistive is just very old technology. It's good for nerds holding a tiny stylus lo... moreWhen you're driving down the freeway, I do not have time to take out a stylus to make a call. I do not want to grow finger nails so I can use my phone without a stylus. I do not want to press hard enough so the 2 pieces of plastic can make contact. I do not want to feel my screen "flex" when I press on it, make it feel cheap. Most people that don't like capacitive touchscreen are iPhone haters anyway.
1.when you drive on the freeway you should use a carkit so you don't kill otier people ot of ignorance.
2.unless you zoom like crazy or use a capacitative stylus selecting text on the iphone is a nightmare.
3.passing with your finger over a contact and the phone starting to dial on it's own sucks.
4.capacitative is both very sensitive and unprecise and resistive doesn't "flex", it offers feedback.
5. capacitative is the "cheap" industrial standard for digital info kiosks that have minimum 15" screens and so doesn't require precission.
5.the right name is not iPhone, it's iFoxconn since:
a) apple doesn't have the technology to build phones
b) preffers to pollute other countries and be "greenpeace" friendly
c) preffers forced labour, slavery and paychecks that don't exceed 100$ a month (see the case of foxconn worker that commited suicide)
As usual a lost iSheep on the nokia forum that doesn't have the slightest clue of what it is talking about.
And as a general statement: "iSheep can't argument opinions, if asked for, they suffer a seizure of hysteria and just leave".
thumbs up to nokia i like the size of tyhe phone i think it would be great if it came in green

As for the other guy talking about writing your own program saying "if you can't find the application you need, make it!" Are you insane? I smell another iPhone hater.
I use my precious time to make money so I can PAY someone that wrote the program that I needed, thus so they can have a job and make a living. By saying what you said, you are just dissing software engineers.. you think everyone can do what they do?
hiro, 12 Oct 2009can n900 make a voice call?YES - N900 can make voice calls and you DON'T have to pay and download an app to do it - Hahaha. isheep.
