Please help me answer my question about N900.
Can N900 supports all applications like S60? Let's say it can use QuickOffice like N95 8GB.
Very thanks if you can reply my question.

Dude, desktop and panoramic view are the next levels from menu screen.
Of course N900 has menu screens :-))))
Anonymous, 10 Sep 2009Comparing what? Spec sheets? LOL. The iphone is not about squeezing in tons of features jus... moredid I mention about the hands in video in youTube? i myself dont want to compare specs sheet because i dont believe in them, look at how Omnia HD feared in reality.
N900 have great (real) hands on videos and base on what I saw, its nothing different than my iphone experience, even much better because it gives a real pc browsing experience, sleek and responsive UI and what matters most, it can do multi tasking which iphone does't have.
yes the zooming is a bit peculiar but thats more than minor to me compared to the advances N900 have to iPhone.
To all the visitors of GSMARENA.COM I have some question:
1.} Is the N900 going to take Iphone's market?
2.} IS it better than Iphone, BlackBerry Cure or Bold?
3.} And does it have chatting liek the BlackBerry?
iphone fanboy, 10 Sep 2009i already posted a comparative pre-review between N900 and iPhone before, better search for it... moreComparing what? Spec sheets? LOL. The iphone is not about squeezing in tons of features just so it would look good on paper. Even before this N900, there are already other phones out there that look better on paper than the iphone, yet the iphone prevailed and even bested the rest by bagging the best smartphone award.
The N900's touch UI looks better than the N97, but still does not look as fluid and smooth as the iphone's touch responsiveness and intuitiveness. Just look at the way the N900 zooms a web page vs the way the iphone does it. And the N900 only has 4 desktop pages, and each page can fit maybe 4 to 6 widgets. The iphone can have over 12 menu screens that can fit 16 apps per screen.
Clearly two things need to be corrected on GSMArena's N900 specifications:
1) "... N900 has a FM receiver hardware inbuilt. Today, we do not ship FM-radio as a built-in application. However, we look forward to the community to build exciting mash-ups of FM radio and other media experiences on Nokia N900 with high local relevance." Said by Peter@Maemo Marketing http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=318661#post318661
2) The same thing goes with multimedia messaging (MMS). No MMS application shipped with N900 at the moment.
Since Maemo is open source OS, one should follow what applications Maemo community can offer in near future at maemo.org

i dont think the need to prove that UI is good or bad is necessary, look at all those hands on videos posted on youTube, there more than impressive enough even to an iPhone user like me.
Anonymous, 10 Sep 2009And just to make things clear. I am not here to hate on the N900. I think it's device to look ... moreWell in us you poor guys thaught motorola with razr& co was "cool" so no wonder the iphone is such a big step for you guys.
But phones that do what iphone does are extreeemly common for quite while now, with the symbian UIQ OS for touch, yet noone cared ab it.
It's mainly well advertised and surrounded by apple worshipers but other than that... nothing new under the sun.
And just to make things clear. I am not here to hate on the N900. I think it's device to look out for. I just think it's silly of some Nokia fans to say that this phone is better than the iphone when it's not yet released, that's all.
Anonymous, 10 Sep 2009It's obvious that you never even tried the iphone. If you go to a website w/ a youtube video ... moreI'm fed up with youtube apps, It's about time a phone could handle flash 9 properly.
As for iPhone, expensive toy, small screen... an ordinary phone with nothing special.
Anonymous, 10 Sep 2009Well I can certainly say that browsing on the 3gs small screen sux. It's the nymber of pixels ... moreAlso, it's funny that you mock the iphone's 3.5 screen to be small, when your n900 also has. 3.5 screen, lol. And hello, before the iphone, your Nokia N series only had 2.8 screens for web browsing, so please. It's only now that Nokia has been releasing a lot of phone's with screens over 3.0 inches. Something that Nokia only utilized on their E series flagship in the past.

If you go to a website w/ a youtube video link, you do not have to close that page and open youtube app. All you have to do is touch the video clip and the iphone will automatically direct it to its youtube app, and when the video is over, it takes you back to the web page automatically. And yes, the iphone can open multiple web pages at the same time, something that the N97 cannot do.

What's the point in browsing if each time you find a video, you have to get redirected to youtybe and get the link, then start another app to load the video and... you get the picture.
Also knowning the fifference between an open source OS and a phone OS... not much that apple will let you do on their device.
Over here we might be nativley runing windows 7 once it's released.
Does iphone have tabbed browsing at least?
this phone is the best phone even if it aint released yet..
please do not compare this to the iphone and embarrass yourself.
compare iphone with nokia 5800.
iphone fanboy, 10 Sep 2009hmm? how long will it take for Nokia to deliver my pre-order.. cant wait to flaunt this to my ... moreHow can you say that this is better than the iphone when this phone is not even out yet, lol. You can't simply say that a device is better than another just by looking at the specs. You need to actually experience it first.
I don't like its zooming gesture. It's wiggley. And the flash support does not load youtube videos as fast as the iphone youtube app, so what good is that? It stalled in one of the demos.
I'd wait for this phone to be released before I would say that it's better than the iphone 3gs.
this phone seems great..hope it would have the same stability in its OS as the iphone
i am a nokia user and lately i am suffering "out of memory issues", bugs, crashes and every pain in the as*
maybe the big processor speed in this phone would help solve those things..i hope it would satisdfy me when i get my hands on it:)

hmm? how long will it take for Nokia to deliver my pre-order.. cant wait to flaunt this to my colleagues here:) Most of us have iPhones and were starting to talk about N900, they were hoping for it to get subsidized by TMobile at least and the realization of Comes With Music plan to push through here in US by January. More 3D games as well!
N900 is my Best phone at the moment, iPhone is 2nd then Blackberry Bold.
