they copied the panoramic desktop idea from android. y didnt they use a capacitive screen so it can handle multitouch and is more responsive? (no1 can convincingly argue that resistive is more sensitive to finger touch than capacitive and touching is the most important part of a touchscreen phone). i understand that nokia wants to also be able to use a stylus for certain markets (eg: asian) but they cud simply make 2 different versions or better yet use optical touchscreen which is so far (in my opinion) the best touchscreen technology used in a touchscreen phone (used in neonode now bankrupt) it is even more sensitive than capacitive (cos u dont even need to touch the screen but u can hover above the area u wna touch) and it recognizes everything that touches it (including styli) and since this technology has to be placed around the screen rather than inside it, it does not worsen the quality of the image being displayed like resistive does cos resistive uses several layers which can make colors appear more faded especially in sunlight.
all this apart i think its a v gud phone but there is always room for improvement.
Anonymous, 28 Aug 2009the problem with the technology is that they have advanced so much everyway but i dont know wh... morephilips phones have incredible battery life yet they dont sell much so they r proof that good battery life is not wat most ppl want. also batteries are expensive so bcos of these 2 reasons phone companies ignore or downplay the importance of the battery in a mobile phone by introducing a new feature which gets more attention and is cheaper like having flash for web browsing
the problem with the technology is that they have advanced so much everyway but i dont know what to say except that they are stupid brainless because look at the BATTERY 1320mah only , i mean when are they seriously gonna advance the battery to 3000mah 4000mah + power batteries because the phone is just not only a phone, there are games, videos, music, camera, internet, business, etc i mean so much consumption of battery but still they want to make money by putting such poor battey, even though we have to pay so much, its not worth the battery, i have a phone "LG GM200" it isnt like high featured but it beats any phone with its sound quality because it has the highest of all & battery life guarantee u dont have to charge once or max twice a week, the sound quality is unbelievable, trust me buy it n keep it as a side phone, u will love it, please increase the battery life and take money, dont mind paying money for high batteries
I just have to say 2 things why not a 1500maH lion battery and well done Nokia this is the next big thing in the touch screen market after apple and mac os mobile Nokia caught up in a very nice way :)

when the iphone 3gs got out, it only had 3 mp camera with out any fl... morewhat it for 200$ with 8MP and xenon and multitouch and popcorn maker.
Huahahahaha... I like your joke, man :p
Alot of people are putting alot of criticism on this phone. Lets start of by comparing it with iPhone. So far based on promotional details, and pre-release evaluations, it's competitive with the iPhone in every manner, except the iPhone doesn't have a 5.0MP camera. Second, the interface obviously is as beautiful as iPhone, but runs on the open-source MAEMO (a linux based operating system) which allows it to have alot of versatility of gaming/applications. The latter also makes it pointless to compare it to WinMO devices such as Toshiba TG01, Samsung B7610, etc. Why? Because WinMO isn't a full fledged desktop operating system; MAEMO is based on linux, a full fledged desktop operating system, with billions of application and games capable of being ported. The N900, based on the specs given out right now, make it a unique phone in the aspect that it's both a "Netbook" and Phone in one. WinMO smartphone devices, at the end, are still just a phone OS. MAEMO with an ARM A8 600mhz processor in comparison with a WinMO device on a Qualcomm 1 GHz processor, is like comparing a Ninja with a Dagger to a 5-year-old fat Kid with a Sword. Just my perspective. :)
Malik, 28 Aug 2009Again the size is huge..same as N97nokia has smaller phones, but then you would complain that the screen is to small...
why so many complayns?
when the iphone 3gs got out, it only had 3 mp camera with out any flash and nobody said anything. and the iphone costs 600 Euro, and still people are worshiping the iphone like it is the greatest phone ever.
so now, when nokia anounces probably the best phone ever made (a true computer) with qwerty and good procesor and ram, here comes a looser that what it for 200$ with 8MP and xenon and multitouch and popcorn maker.
pls, just buy whatever you want, as for me, i will save up money for 2 years if necesary to get a phone that will please me.
There's some contradictory information available about microSD max size. Some Nokia's news letters tell that it's up to 48 GB but some says it's only 16 GB.
