For all you doubters out there just received text message from voda confirming delivery of N91 tomorrow morning
i got this N91 three weeks ago. my opinion for this unit is negative. The first thing i want to complain is the hard disk problem! when you are listening to the music, if you want to skip to the next song, the software takes times to respond, i did have many times the cell phone get hang, even can't switch off the unit. even worse, when you start again, all the information inside the hard disk was lost. I don't konw may be only my unit have this problem. gonna to check in the nokia service centre. but really quite disappointed for paying high price but got this kind of problems. that's truth. I am in the philippines.
Really, thats interesting. They look similar besides the album art. I dunno.
To R: No its a totally different Interface. The Music player in the N91 supports Album art, different menu stucture, fast scroll (just hit the jot stick down twice fast, all different trust me - or better yet go to s ators and ask to compare (also bring some 3.5 headphones and be prepared_
Note: I have an N91 - dropped it already on hardwoord floor twice (im clumsy) whicle plating music..no problem. I would not worry about hurting the HDD by dropping it.
I think this is the better nokia's camera, but still is no match for sonyericsson; in the review this phone fails to take pictures of trees and macro effects.
To Pappy: I understand that the N91 has the equalizer and stuff. I mean that doesn't really affect me too much. But aside from that isn't the interface for the music player the same?
N91 does have vibracall, when music player works on hard disk and come call to the phone, system deactivate HD.
W810 and N91 cant be compared since both phones belongs to different market segments and have different features and prices.
This phone compete with Samsung i series with hard drive with windows mobile, but for me samsung wins the battle because best screen, less wight, size and memory card support.
And both of these phones (nokia N91 and samsung i3XX) have a real disavantage in microdrive, if you buy any of these phones you be carefully with it, one or two drops to the floor amd... DIEEEEEEE!!!
In this case i go with W950 with 4gb flash memory, and has UiQ!! is the best OS in smartphones, and the lack of camera is a weakness for some people, but not for me.
Regarding LCD: I talked to Nokia guys the reason for th elower resolution and size was simple
1) Battery life: They wanted to get 11+ Hrs of music playback. QVGA's suck power especially when you do not have a flip phone where you can shut the screen off completely when the flip is closed
2) Durability. If you notice on the N91 the LCD has a strong scratch resistant window over the LCD. This adds to the overall device strength to protect the HDD. I read somewhere they drop the phone 300 times to test the HDD.
To r: Actually the N80 and N91 have different Music players. The N91'a has many more fuunctions, equalizer etc N80's is teh standard generic Music/media player
To Saad : Yes it has a vibra and it works even if you choose an MP3 as a ringone o the HDD..clever engineers :)
Can anyone help plz??? Does N91 come with vibration alert or not. I'm indecisive wether to go for N91 or N80. I have N70 and I love it.
that is a scan i tried it once and it doesnt work your dollar willl b taken by frauds
if there was a bigger screen, then battery life would be reduced and the phone would be bigger
For a >$700 phone...you get a good music player and all the goodies.
Then you get a 35x41mm screen....wtf?!??!
you can NOT deny that this screen is TINY
Herbert aboyt .SIS files.
S60 3rd Edition has platform security which protects against viruses, allows for DRM, etc. The applications need to be signed by Symbian and usually have a .SISX extension. Most .SIS files will not work. Try downloading the themes from the Nokia web links on the device using your services browser (can use GPRS/3G or WLAN). Also its better to install themes on the phone memory and leave the HDD for music etc. Many companies now are making SISX versions for this new S60 so keep an eye out for them.
I hope they can figure out a way to make sype for symbian phones, cuz that would rock.
