Hey there every1, i work in carphone warehouse in london, and our whole stock of Nokia N95's had to be sent back, not 1 of them worked, they had varying issues, this has been the worst release of a handset since i have worked, with people returning the phone, we get at least 5 handsets returned every day since the phone was released, we are actually contemplating removing it from the shelf its that bad, The N95 is a big NO GO AREA!
After testing both the E65 and E95 I will now call the E95 my next wife and will never leave Nokia. Great work. We use it for Mobile Voip and could not have dreamed a better phone.
good features but wot a ugly brick..!!!
big massive phone, cant even fit in pockets. u hav 2hold it in ur hands all times.
id rather carry a P.C around (monitor, keyboard, mouse, tower)
got this phone yesterday, it is playing up already, when you are using the music player and the phone rings the phone switches to vibrate mode for the call after - very disappointed!
Well, I've noticed John alert down there about how inferior N95 is compare to SE products and i also just want to clarify a few things. Most of us know that Nokia dominate the mobile market for the last few years and their phones are still doing greats. Nokia N series has always been the most superior class of phone on the market so far that set the standard for most modile phones out there. So in term of function, reliability and east of use, not to mention Design are all perfect on the N series. Personally, i am a samsung user and I have to say samsung havent made anything as outstanding as the N series or some of the SE. So i think i can be very fair when i comment on these two brands.
Nokia N95 has been release recently and so far most of the people and users that I've talk to who actually own one or played with one had response with great satisfaction in the product. N95 is a great unit with quadband, and compatible with all types of connection. It allow you to play different types of music media and some popular forms of video files. As if that wasnt enough, the N95 threw in tha auto focus 5mp as bonus and internal gps system that can navigate quite well for a phone. Design are quite interesting and the ease of use are very satisfying. As for the body of the phone, it have a very well study built, yes study built. It havent made any racketing noises and weird sounds like some people claim that it made on my friends N95. If you are afraid of strange noises on your phone, then i would like to suggest you check your phone before buying it. To me, when I tested it the phone was great. If it feel slugglish in function by any chance, maybe some of you didnt turn off all the extra applications you have opened. The more applications running at once the slower the phone will be (like a computer right?). The other functions on these phones are very convenience and i find the phone exceptionally entertaining. It works with majority of the services like cingular, tmobile and so on. I havent heard anyone who used the aN95 complaining about the phone freezes and turn off by itself unless it is out of battery. Some said it have bad battery life, well i would like note that the N95 does have a 2.6in screen (if you check majority of the other phones that are over 2.5inches screen they all have pretty bad battery life). Not only that, the N95 play all sort of things, if you buy this phone and constantly using it for mp3 and video and gps throughout the WHOLE day then please expect the battery to run out, nothing can take that much heavy duty work, so with that big of a screen and that much function, i think the N95 does a GOOD job with the 6.5 hours talk time =). Over all i think its a superb phone and the built and functions are all great.
Now lets see SE. SE have been doing the same design over and over again, BAR phone. I do admit some SE are great. However, some SE have problem with their phones. Ive try several of them and it turn out some are fine, some are frozen after a while. SE try so hard to make their navigation screen pretty that it caused the device to freeze often. I've been hearing complain about it with the W800 and K series. SE also out all their best units on a phone just trying to make it sell. things such as Cybershot, walkman model, and so on. I think its great that they put those in to the phone as bonus but seriously, against a 5mp, they are seriously messing with the wrong phone. I think sony have great sound for a phone, and the style look a lot like a camera and thats very impressive. but it would be nice to get out of the bar form once in a while. Internal gps would be nice and maybe some more connection compatibility. If what john said about SE releasing after Nokia is true, then that would make me think SE is just another company that try to imitate another brand that is successful, but i try not to go there since I believe sony is a good company that can come up with some sophisticated design on their own. Sony got a study built body and i like that. The phone is compact and not too large with fairly nice weight. The screen and navigation is nice. The menu are fairly simple to use and the camera are quite impressive if compared with other 2mp camera. Wifi has been something new to SE and they dont seem to support that a lot. Same to audio and video files compatibility as well. But over all i think SE is a great middle class phone. Its fun to use and battery life is slightly a bit more than N95 but with a small screen and not a lot of function to play with, i guess its okay because it does cost cheaper than the high class N95.
Over all, both phone are superb but in preference, i would rather own an N95 than the Sony series. N95 is now known as the world most high tech and sophisticated Multimedia device as of now, so i think that title wasnt given to the N95 for no reason.
know about this phone..
and please post ur opinion
hey all the people that are saying the phone is to big and chunky you must be blind its skinny as maybe not super skinnky like the razor but still preetyy thin ^_^
Can anyone tell me if all the features work properly when used on the Fido network in Canada?
i think it is almost perfect except for no xenon flash like SE to tk gd pics at nite...
excellent sound clarity and wowful 5 mp camera it is the king of all mobiles thank u nokia
i guess its a good device but with that price i can bye a 10 m.p cam with good mobile with gprs device and all r prof ,,i preffer se bc it delevers a great props with suitable price ..
John alert---Nokia may have Java but still some games you can not play in Nokia as u can in SE also the Auto Focus of SE is better then Nokia as it can capture text as well and gives very clear picture if you want to check just compare it with SE K800i pics and you will know what am i talking about also Nokia despite in the market for many years, its market share, new inovations etc is still struggling with the low power battery. You tell me how good is N95 ? very good indeed but with fuctions like these it should last longer in battery life, Also the Physical Quality of Nokia is decreasing with every future model you can compare N80 with N95 and will see the diff, but SE Quality is still good i can feel the solid K800 in my hand also i have SE-K800i, W850i,W810i and Nokia-N70 & N95 and i have checked these products in detail i really hated Nokia before but after the launch of N95 i changed my mind its very gud but still battery prob, hangs some times, restarts by itself, disturbance when using with BT headphones also its not made correctly because you can see scratches just above the number "3" button of every N95 caused by opening and closing of the slider Now tell me what do you have to say abt Nokia and yea its Sliding mechanism is also very cheap and not good like Samsung and SE, i think its the time Nokia should start thinking what they r doing.
My name is John alert i have been working with M.R Neel gordman who is G.M of nokia for middle east.
well i have seen lots of rubish comments first of all i would like to say on every moment people say SE is better this n that today let me clear you one thing Nokia can not be compared with SE becasuse it has java functionality which are divided in to many phones so in world best functionality phone from 2002 to 2007 is nokia since nokia had release the first phone 7650 to be really honest with you guys SE just wait for nokia to launch certain product and than they tes what are the disadvantages of of it and than they launch their model
You guys can possibly think that why nokia phone is released first cpmare to sony many walk man phones u will find 2 mp camera no wifi and i think majority dont have auto focus while compare to nokia n73 has 3d sound 3.2 camera stero wideining any way
my point is if u guys been through the certificates of nokia you guys will find this un nessasary
so there is no chance that nokia can be compared with se if you see (connectivity, durability, market share,3g performance and now last but not least HSDPA)
I Hope now you ppl will understand the difference
hi all its the most wonderful mobile nokia has broughtout ....excellent and my money on that ...price is only little on the higher side....ram
You never said where you were. I bought mine from Paris, France. It was delivered to me here in Dublin. 567 euro + TAX (VAT).
It actually arrived yesterday evening, and I never clicked the send button for my last posting untill earlier today.
Initial preview is: Yes the slider is not as smooth as E65, but I cannot see it being a problem, as it clicks into either of its 3 positional spring loaded clinks with ease and holds well also.
I have tried out most of it this morning (after an overnight charge). First thing i did was upgrade the firmware to V 11.0.026 by means of nokia software updater. you can find your version by going to tools/device manager.
It seems to be important that you you exit programs not in use as they run in background, and do not clog up memory. There is a memory management tool, which i did not look into yet.
I set up my wireless LAN quite quickly (even with its WPA encription). Browsing was a cinch. Once you bookmark all your FAV sites, the lack of QWERTY keypad should not be too much of a hindrence. I was also able to set up one of my POP3 email accounts in seconds with its wizard.
When using programs like web browser or email, it is best to have it set to ask you what way you want to access internet (Wlan or GPRS etc) Then when u click the program it will then ask you which. Of course it is always preferable to connect through your home wireless network (its fastest and free).
I have only taken a few snaps and a minute of video. seems well up to scratch. will test more later. The screen is brilliant. You could easily watch a movie on this screen.
I did not test the GPS as I have a Garmin Nuvi SAT NAV with bluetooth in my car. Will test N95 GPS later.
Bluetooth: First it tried to connect to the bluetooth of my Nuvi (it has built in handsfree for phone). It connected without a problem and I was able to make/receive calls but I will need to upgrade my Nuvi's firmware to use features like phonebook.
Battery: Have not got it long enough, but initial observations seem to suggest it will last 2 days on moderate to heavy use, 3 to 4 days on moderate to light use. When I bought my SE K800i last year, the first charge only lasted a day. This is mainly due to the fact that when you gets a new phone, you are inclined to use it a lot more than normal on the first few days tring out new things, putting in new setting etc. Will report further on the battery next week (from The Philippines)
LOOKS: This phone really looks the business. It is unbeleivable that Nokia fitted so much into the N95. It is about the same thickness as the K800i, about 7mm wider, but 7mm shorter. It feels about the same weight as the K800i. As you can see from the pics most of the front is taken up with the screen, which looks huge against the 800. Looks big beside the E65, but the E65 is a is a very neat package (WLAN wireless too)

Bro musta? Regarding your concern with pricing I'd just like to update you. N95 right now is selling at 32-33k those are the ones with nokia care warranty. I sell phones myself and my source is one of the official nokia suppliers here in Manila. so there units are 100% good.
