Thanks for the info on GPS, how do i do a satelite search on my N95?
If you have this pone and want to use GPS, then please remeber that you can download the maps for free from www.nokia.com/maps if you do it via the network, it'll cost you loads. WHen you have done that, it will take approx 30 mins to install them, but then that;s done. The first time you do a satalite search, with will take about 10 mins to get a lock on on all four satalites, but once it's done, it's done! Hope that helps.
actually its less than ebays prices the price of this phone has dropped to $719 that price is at phonesource-usa they are the cheapest.....its amazing how much the price has dropped since this phone came out.
my version is V 10.0.018 15-03-07 RM - 159...made by nokia...but battery made in china...no wonder...and i cant verufy whether the battery is original or not...bcos the code supplied with the battery is invalid....any ideas guys???
listen up, wait for the next 5 mega pixel camera phone from nokia and stop torturing yourselves over this little shit! its nice and full of features but it has a lot of faults and its way to slow and yes it crashes too!
the picture quality is good but nokia still has to work on the colour balancing as the pictures look to artificial just the same as the n73!
if you owned the k800i then you'll know that it takes much better natural looking pictures over both the n95 and the n73.
the only place where it really shines is the video quality which you have to praise nokia for and not forgetting its excellent display but other than that, we are left with a crappy firmware, a very bad build quality, a very slow camera interface and not forgetting the sound quality which really is not that good.
when there is so much features packed into one single device, it is only to be expected! you cant have the best of each feature, not yet anyway!
mine is up for sale on ebay from where i got it from in the first place.
over all i am dissapointed just like i was with the nokia n73!
i would have kept this phone if:
1. the camera interface was faster
2. it took natural life like pictures and didn't add too much of that artificial processing which nokia n73 also seems to do!
3. the build quality was much better.
4. battery life was longer.
its a shame really because where sony makes a good cybershot camera phone, it doesnt offer anything else like nokia's symbian phones do!
and where nokia makes symbian based smartphones which are just about more usuable than sony's, it lets us down with its clumsy and slow camera interface and its artificial picture qualty!
will wait and see what nokia do next but in the mean time, i'm a windows mobile 6 enthusiast!
Q: What is the difference between route planning and navigation?
Route planning is a free feature. It calculates and displays a route between two locations. A route simulation (with voice commands) is also possible (free of charge).
Navigation is an extra service, which is available for purchase. Navigation means that the route is calculated from the user???s GPS position to a chosen destination. The navigation is voice-guided, meaning it tells the user how to get to the desired destination step by step (for example, "in 300 meters turn left???"). Navigation also automatically re-calculates the route if the user takes a wrong turn.
The navigation feature can only be purchased for regions for which a navigable map is available (there are navigable and non-navigable maps). A route simulation is also not possible on non-navigable maps. This is due to the often poor quality of map information on these maps.
Hallo everyone. I got my N95 as a free upgrade from Orange three days ago. Seems I am, like kevineu, one of the lucky ones. Phone does not seem to have a wobbly right side (apart from the 1/2mm when closed), camera is brilliant etc. My only complaint is that it came striped of a microSD and a case (I had to look at ebay, prices not too bad).
I have not used it much though, tried as much as I could without a USIM (I am still using my N70 until my case and microSD arrive)so I cannot comment on GPS etc. The thing is, though, Orange users manual does warns you about extra charges for maps etc, and also points out that there is a way to DISABLE the automatic downloads so you can avoid being charge without realising, as well as downloading free maps. As far as I can remember, it also gives a link (I have not extensively researched yet as I have not activated my new USIM yet)for you to do so.
My advice is, get some sort of insurance on the phone (orange has the -slightly overpriced- £5/month 'orange care')and no mater what happens you will get a replacement. They did it with my 7650 and N70 in the past.
I am not too high tech, so I could use your help with this 'firmware' flash you say it solves problems. I tried to look at the first page and the N95 does not appear in the drop down menu for any software downloads. Is it because it is too new yet? What sort of problems do you refer to when you say that the phone is bad? I mean, I DO have wi-fi at home and wuld like to find out more about the VOIP calls. How can I check if Orange has removed this feature from my phone? Does a re-instalation of the firmware solve this issue?
Does anybody knows how much you have to pay for GPS and to who? your service provider or Nokia?
That is a load of crap - you are getting GPS and GPRS mixed up. post again when you actually know what you are talking about.
"GPS will not work unless u pay for i. the onlything u can download is maps from nokia's map downloader"
N95 is a good phone with great features. but, my question is why a leader company like nokia always have a stupid 1st version of any software. i trashed 2 N93 and 3 N73, and unfortunatly the N95 is no different. it is slow and hangs and the dealer said that i only have to wait the software upgrade. so there you have it
yes it can read the office files ...
you are right my friend these people dont believe anything and they only talk crap and dey dont own da phone i have the receipt if u want a proof
i have an important question for all of you who have the nokia n95 : can you read office documents and pdf documents on you phone ? like on the nokia n 73 .
thank you !!!!!!!!!!
If you post your honest opinions on this phone and it doesn't suit some people you are hit with 'you don't own the n95' 'go back to sony ericsson'.What do you guys want,Proof of purhcase?because i certainly have that. The phone is good but their is no getting away from the fact the n95 resets itselfs and the build quality is questionable..
GPS will not work unless u pay for i. the onlything u can download is maps from nokia's map downloader
lol if u dont use the features dont aaply it to all people around the world ..i actually use the gps..hspda..wifi.5mp camera and every feature in this phone ur saying we cant compare it to da digital cameras ofcourse we cant but still its da best camera in any mobilephone yet so dont just talk crap.. the phone is highly recommended and its da best phone in da market till now
so stick with ur gigabyte and dont talk crap
hmmm lets see......ok. first this is a symbian cell. anyone who has dealt with S60 3rd ed. knows how crappy this version is. very slow and full of bugs. my n93 was in need of constant updates. it is basically stable now but does automatically shut down at times. next... allot these cool things nokia slaps on these N series cells cannot be utilized. region dependent. next... the camera and video is awesome but once again your stuck with S60 3rd ed. software to view your output. bogus. next....does nokia know how lame symbian is?... of course. do they have a deal with symbian? yes. customers??? who are they? to the morons who own this cell, have you had alot of Nokia's? I started with a 5110 in 1999 and have had owned half their line up since. anything Symbian is a joke. except 6600. this cell is not worth the price. not even close.
to all you guys most of us posting here can easily afford this fon. BUT! issue is not about money guys N95 is not an innovator, GPS has long being in phones expect offcourse nokia models, and 5mpx is simple incomparable to todays digital camera's. HSDPA is not neccesary, its use is basically for high speed internet, now tell me guys how many of you with this fon do not own a car. or are u telling me u will the downloading movies while walking at oxford street or in hong kong? lol come on give me a break. We all buy nokia cos of the name but please not the functions. I got Gigabyte I120 and this N95, trust me the only way to find the N95 ahead in all variables is the camera lol! Please Please Please use your money on expectional value products... A word to the wise is........
i have this cellphone for more then 2 weeks now battery is good just like the p990i its exactly da same i had p990 before so maybe thats why i didnt see it bad . it didnt crash once yet and i hope it wont ..its a little bit slow ..sound is perfect and da camera is crazy clear so please who ever didnt try this cellphone please dont comment stupid comments because ur jelous and can not afford this phone ..
the only one thing (bug) that i found is when u go to the log all the dialled recieved missed called numbers will be shown as a cellphone number and not house or office or etc....and this will be fixes in matter of no time when the new software is released ... so my advice to you is if u have the price for this phone go for it .. and if ur main concern is the battery dont worry 1050 batteries will come out soon
this is all i have to say for this nice phone
