donni: The WLAN works well. It scans, picks up and connects up my secure wireless network. I have full internet thereafter. The problem is that the phone crashes when I try turning the WLAN scanning off to save battery life.(A tip I read some where) The phone then needs a reboot.
hey to you all I have a GIGABYTE I120 is much more better than your idol N95 lol lol lol!!!! Nokia is bewitched you all!!!!!!
Basically WLAN is mobile or cell phones is no different from WLAN is notebooks or laptop's or what ever device where applicable, N95 like most high-end mobiles now offer WLAN, What this means is that you can initiate a connection to a non-secured WLAN by just clicking "connect" after detection. Where the WLAN is a secured network you will need the network access key as on conventional devices. depending on your mobile's browser's ability you will be able to access a sizeable number resoures on the internet.
On question on GPS rather appeared a rhetorical one to me
I've had this phone for around a week now...
I love all the features it has!
It has frozen on me a few times, and can be a little sluggish, but all in all a wicked 'little' device!
i dont have a good knoweledge about fone...but i like the fone very much.....
My N95 has crashed a few times already. This happens when switching WLAN scanning OFF after surfing the net.It also crashed after playing with the 3D sound settings.
The battery is still showing full after 10 hours of modest daily use (Few calls and sms's) and showing GPS etc off at the office... Overall I'm pleased with the purchase.
I have a question about the Wi-Fi capabilities.
If I have a wireless route at home, can I just conect straight to it and browse and download from the internewt for free?
obviously, my broadband provider will charge, but are there any hiden costs of using the internet this way with the n95?
also, with the GPS, im still a little confused. From what I gather, you can download the maps, load them onto the fone, get a GPS lock on your position and plan a route with a line on the map showing you where to go - all this is free. It is only rthe voise navigation that costs extra? If this is the case, I'm sure I can love with that as the voice comment are a novelty really as I will be using it mainly when walking.
On the nokia n95 software download page, the software text2speech is an option to download, my question is when i installed it i could not find the actuall software on my nokia n95 anywhere is can see it had been installed but could not find the programe anywhere on the phones menu!!!##
Not here to grudge the handset, i work for a UK mobile retailer, had a good hands on test with the handset, seems ok, battery lasts as long as my old N80, the gps wasnt that great tho, as i could not pinpoint my position very well, maps were very good though, and being able too zoom right into streets is very handy.still early days so we shouldnt write the handset off yet.
It is very nice and packed with software, using it for three days no bugs, charging require at least in oneand a half days in anormal usage.
work for a uk network and showed handset to 5 people in space of 2 hrs on full charge, not used an interactive service and battery was dead in this time scale ,,,so this doesnt bode well for business users or normal consumers either!!!!!!stay away as full of bugs too.......
Best phone eva! sorry just tryin to be as annoyin as every other person on here who thinks they know loads about phone but really thet know nuthin! all u hear is blah blah blah blah when they talk. be all and end all is that if if you want a good phone with all the featurea at a good quality that a mobile could have then get this one!!!!
As I said in a previous post - use it and blow it. The battery does not support my normal use for a working day. I need to carry a spare battery or ensure a midday charge. Usage 10-12 calls 20 email headers and 10min modem usage)
tried it today....the camera seems ok.....maybe its bcoz of the screen....i think it will be better if seen on the computer....
raf please let me know how the n95 is doing, still, im due for an upgrade with vodacom can port my number to mtn
can someone please post about the battery life - a lot of reviews and reports claim you'd be lucky to get even a full day on one charge...???
if ever there was a useless phone this is it, too big, too clunky, and packed with far too many features.......would definately not reccomend as a consumer phone....maybe good for business puposes only
