Mark.... You asked.."hello. does this phone have a gps chip, or use the network signal??????"
It does have a GPS chip and it also uses the network if it loses the GPS Lock. Quite clever TBH. It will also connect to a good quality bluetooth GPS reciever. I have a Blackline GPS reciever and it works instantly. Also it does not work to 30Meters like the one in the phone the Blackline unit works to 1 foot! So I plan on using it for some data logging on my trackday sessions this year.
Already available at PureMobile:
Sony Ericsson cameras are better than any nokia camera,so when sony ericsson bring out their 5 mega pixel camera phone ,the camera on the N-95 will be junk.Im strictly a Hardcore Symbian NOKIA user and i hate sony ericsson phones but lets face the facts guys ,even a Carl Zeiss camera lens wont match up with sony ericsson cameras, for everything else Nokia humps Sony Ericcson.
hi... news for those who live in Saudi arabia...
just found out n95 is 3700 SR warranty AL-haddad
I have had a play with a couple of things today. The camera is good. 5Mp is a bit much for a small lens so it does have some noise. But it is acceptable.
There is a hint of colour cast in indoor photos but nothing serious.
I use photoshop so I can clean them up and they are as good as most compact camera images in my honest opinion.
GPS. I am not sure about having to pay to use it... I thought that was only for the vocal direction download for each journey. Also if it used the network for the trip instead of the GPS system. I do know GPS signals can be lost in built up areas so using the network is quite clever. I have also sync'd the phone to my Bluetooth GPS reciver which is a very accurate motorsport version and it picks up the signal almost instantly. I will be using it for a route guidance later this week so I will see if we get charged if I turn the network option off!!
So far it has been great. I have run the battery down playing with all the toys and listening to music. I had hoped the USB cable would also charge the phone but I am affraid it does not! Oh well luckily I am close to a power supply and I will not be playing with the thing too much once I have got used to it and it just becomes another phone!
to l7wv,,,, three massive cheers to you because on voda i got 20 quid contract plus 100 quid upfront for my last fone and generally pottered about on internet..BANG the first bill was 87 quid and all extras was browsing internet..They want you to enjoy the experiance of browsing, and i love it on a fone browsing the internet and generally use it for train info to news video clips...SO now its minimal browsing & an UNINTERESTING experience with all the images & sounds turned off to save data d/load cost..They can give me 5000 mins or 5000 txts i dont care i want is full mobile fone web browsing experience at broadband home prices..BT broadband have given me a general cap of 16.7 gb but if i go over they never charge me,,, if i did that on vodafone live it wud cost £39,579.00 at voda"s £2.37 a mb,,,enjoy voda live "huff" ENUF SAID!!
You don't have to pay anything for the GPS, except if you need voice-navigation!!

lyn did o2 say that it would cost extra for using the gps cos other websites dont mention anything about extra charges for using it?
mine came today...take back all i said about o2!! Just charging it...looks complicated after the sony but looks good up to now!!
the main reason i wanted the phone was for the gps. at £4.95 a week im cheaper buying a tomtom
If you want to use the n95 and all it's features do not get it from o2.C'mon this is a great phone with FULL web browsing capabilities.Think about it,you could be traveling on the bus, passenger in car,on the train and surfing the web, using emoze for push email and the most it can cost with t-mobile is £7.50 per month-2gig fair usage, but you can go way over and they don't charge you. That o2 guy is trying to make money for himself.o2 are the rubbish, would probably cost you 10quid to look at a few pages on this site!
Hi can you tell me why you need to pay extra to use the gps? i phoned o2 to upgrade my phone and was told it would cost £90 for the phone then £4.95 a week to use the gps
My seventh Nokia phone (4th N series), and finally one that doesn't leave a grudging taste in the mouth.
Reasonably fast, very, VERY good display. Strong camera AND video function, unlike the N93 or N73 which were cases of either/or. Comes in a nice package too, mine had a casing, the micro card, the adapters, and a Sennheiser voucher.
Previously was using the N73 for nine months and though the camera was great, it really got quite slow in some areas and the video was so strangely inferior to N70. Now, finally, a real multimedia phone worth the cent of it.
