Anonymous, 18 Dec 2008Hi I'm looking to buy a new phone (not really urgent though I can wait up to about 3-4 months)... morehi, well i've got n95 8gb. when ppl say that n95 8gb's battery is really bad. u have to consider the factors. 1 of the main reasons is the screen. 2.8 inch n 16millions, dats y it consume more battery. i can put almost 4 films onto it (whole Never Back Down movie, 2256kbits per second, 640 * 480 is 1.7gb). can you imagine how good the quality is especially when u watch movie on the large screen? if you talk about music, n95 8gb is nearly better than walkman because n95 8gb has built in chip but walkman is a piece of software. camera, n95 8gb is way better because my aunt got w902 n the camera quality is below ok compare to my n95 8gb. im not sure the pic quality on the computer. but the battery is probably w902 better than n95 8gb but the capacity n95 8gb's got more battery. it is really up to you, my bro was a SE fans but after he started to use n series (n85), he told me how much he loves n series. well, i know im a bit bias about SE but from what my experience (nearly most of my family is using SE), i would suggest u 2 go 4 n95 8gb. the battery is bad but wouldnt b dat disappointing.
Dear N95 8g users,
May I plz get an answer on where from to get the the blacklist application ?
Thank you all in advance
Hi I'm looking to buy a new phone (not really urgent though I can wait up to about 3-4 months), upgrading from my current K800. This is the first Nokia that I'm seriously considering after 5 years of SE (K700 and K800) so I really want some feedback on whether this phone is worth the transition or not. I'm mainly considering this phone against the SE W902, so here are some comparisons that I've drawn between the two mobiles.
N95 vs W902
- 2.8" 16M vs 2.2" 256K (Nokia is definitely a winner)
- 3.5mm vs FastPort (Nokia takes the title again)
- VGA 30FPS vs QVGA 30FPS (Seriously SE is pissing me off here, I can't comment about the photo quality but I guess they would be quite close together)
- $370 vs $500 (Sort of expected. My budget is around $350, N95 would probably drop below that in another 1/4 year, doubt W902 would)
- 21mm vs 11mm (Ok this is a big point for SE as I really consider my current K800 a bit too bulky sometimes, and the W902 is a full 30g lighter as well)
- Symbian OS vs Whatever SE calls it (This doesnt really bother me that much because on one hand, I'm used to the SE layout but on the other, Symbian does allow for (more) customisation and expansions(correct me if I'm wrong here)
- Wifi vs Uhhh HSDPA lol (Again, this doesn't really concern me as I seldom use my mobile as a means to browse the Internet, but Wifi is an added bonus. Just a question here (Im still very unclear about the idea of Wifi), do you need to subscribe to your service provider in order to access it or can you access it for free with only a WLAN (like in the house))
- 128MB SDRAM vs 25MB SharedRam (Clear cut winner)
- 8GB Internal vs 8GB M2 Card (M2 card (shipped with phone) would be quite a bonus for its flexibility, however I don't really care much for it)
Now it seems like the N95 is a no brainer, but I want to clear a few things first.
1) The battery issue with N95 8GB. Half the people here says its great and the other half claims that it sucks, which one is it lol
2) Switching UI. Those of you who made the transitions before please advise me on this.
thats weird, i dont need to install any software onto my computer. i can connect n95 8gb via usb straight away in less than 10-12secs. i really feel sorry 4 u ppl whos got n95 8gb thats unreliable, my n95 8gb is very reliable and not lagging at all. mayb once a week but it hardly ever happen. battery is not that bad (on my one). fully charged at night. then listen 2 music at least 4 hours a day, play music on speaker about 20 mins, take pictures, play high quality video, talk on the phone 4 1 hour or 2 hours n end of the day, it still hav 2 battery or 3 sometimes.
Dani, 06 Dec 2008Its still one of my favourite Smartphones, followed by N82 and yet to see N97 in reality so th... moreHi Dani....I went and searched for Nokia n97 and it looked rather cool....go to youtube and you can watch the video clip of its lauch.

prince, 16 Dec 2008battery is actually really good on this phone!!! like really good. turn down ur resilution how... moreThat makes no sense at all!
I charged my battery yesterday, talked maybe 30 min. on it. This morning I woke up, the phone is off. None touched it over night. The light sensor has nothing to do w/it. Why should I move it to the lowest when it's by default in the middle (by Nokia)
What if one puts it on highest? Turns itself off in 2hrs? Why you need more than 8gb? Why you need more than 4gb hdd in your laptop? Yrs ago that was more than enough. With a few movies, a few albums, some pictures you have no space for videos. Plus you have to connect the phone with a cord to the computer to download your photos/videos vs pop the mem. card in your card reader. Very, very dumb design. No lens cover is the same thing. No excuse for that. Right, I can fix it, actually I can fix that no finrgerprints will ever get on the display or the phone itself.. I put it in a glass box and never touch it again but then what's the point to have it. Here's the thing. I bought it because it seemed good, all the specs. and compared to the rest of crap other manufacturers are selling now for the US, but by using it, it's a diff. issue. I had many phones, not one left me down like this.
If you have a Ferrari (no offense Enzo) and the car uses a tank in an hour, it brokes down, left and right, shuts off the engine randomly, has a 50mph limit, the dash rattles (my slider is loose after 2wks and I barely used it) then you have the king of the kings of the kings' car right.. but it is still USELESS! It is a FanBoi phone. Nothing more...
battery is actually really good on this phone!!! like really good. turn down ur resilution however it's spelt, tools-settings-general-personalize-display-light sensor(turn it down all the way)
this is one of the greatest phones in the market.although samsung with omnia and i8510,lg with renoir are good competitors the n95 8gb remains the king of mobile phones.the software is good, excelent 5mp camera, great multimedia experience,wi-fi,hsdpa..video and image editor,2.8 inch display...i don't understand those who are complaining about the lack of a expendable memory card.why do you need more than 8gb?it is more than enough.no camera lens cover?!protective case!it1s not perfect but by far it still is the best.good batterv life not like samsung,lg or motorola.you wan,t 8mp camera on the phone?what for?and windows mobile on a phone?please.ages pass until your phone starts and the navigation is a disaster.n 96 a total useless phone.omnia design and nothing else.inoov8 8mp poor batterv life and bulky design.
Mine is about 2weeks old. I fully charged the battery the day before yesterday overnight. Yesterday I talked on it for less than an hour, listened to 2 musics (about 3min.each), no prog is running in the back and now the battery is on 1. so I had to put it on the charger again this morning. It lasts for 1DAY - if I barely use it. If I would watch a movie I would need to charge it twice a day. This is a brand new Nokia N95-4, with a Nokia battery. My last Nokia product in my life!
After using it for a few days the slider's already loose.
The lens has no cover so it has fingerprints all the time. No mem. card so I cannot just transfer or copy my stuff freely I need an installation CD and a usb cable with me all the time. That's also bad if you sell it, all your info will stay on it unless you secure erase it. BTW this is the 2nd phone. The 1st had a dead pixel in the middle of the screen. I called Nokia, they said too bad we can't help bc I didn't buy it directly from them. That phone was new, had ZERO minutes. Poor quality, terrible battery life, bad design, worst customer service ever and too expensive. Cost $500 in the US. The GPS is a joke. I hate iphone but that one has an easy to use GPS vs the n95.
I thought it was a good idea to buy this bc it has a good camera, good multimedia options, and has working 3G in the US, Wlan, nice display.. but now that i'm using it I see more cons than pros. Too bad there is no manufacturer with a decent phone out there for the US market...
dave, 14 Dec 2008I wrote some time ago about the phone. I'm not configuring anymore, by the way, I bought the ... morewhat r u talking about? yo bought a fake knock off.
take it to an authorized dealer to see what they will say. ebay is full with chinese copies.
N-serious, 09 Dec 2008hi virus...could you please suggest some sites to download java and n-gage games..www.imserba.com
I wrote some time ago about the phone. I'm not configuring anymore, by the way, I bought the phone for about $500, I was worried about the China slip, but the fact was it was stripped. For some people this is even better... no video's, no games, no presets. I can only imagine the phones those people have that say it's bad. I was even able to give my Nikon digital to my daughter. Sound is good enough for me (the supplied earphone cord is too short). However setting the phone and playing music through it's speakers is great...
So there is the negative, short earphone cord. If this bothers you.. don't buy this phone:) Also, if shopping, get smart on the China slip. WiFi and Bluetooth are weak, if even non existent, or just say error. Once again, I feel it is too much phone for me still. Be careful if you struggle with technology. On the good side, all the settings, from MMS to Internet to Wifi are seamless. Phone does it's own config, without the message from your carrier. I use 3 carriers and this phone sets everyone up and knows what to do.... OK a triple sim 95? I'm dreaming:)
