Mate, I think version 10.0.021 refers to N95-2! I got the same firmware version as yours! The latest available firmware for my unit is version 11.0.026. But I intend to wait for 15.0.015 rather than going thru series of bring up-to-date! Cheers
Mate, I think your current version 20.0.0 refers to N95-1 classic! Newest firmware version of N95-2 is 15.0.015
You Guys Talking about Classic N95 or The N95 8GB whit 10.0.021 Firmware version.
My version is 10.0.021
i think the new firmware is good..
"as of now" i dont have any problem with it..
ofcourse at first i had some problem coz i have to install some of the softwares i installed before.
you will see the changes coz its a lot faster, start up is lot faster you know the hands are faster... etc...
I'd read about having 15.0.015 updated. Can u pls provide me a link to the site as I'd like to upgrade mine.

QUESTION - IS THERE ANY SOFTWARE THAT U COULD RECCOMEND / SUGGEST - THAT I CAN USE AS A REMINDER !! ( THAT GIVES OUT A BEEP / ALARM FOR UNSEEN MESSAGES OR MISSED CALLS !!OR GIVES A SCREEN MESSAGE / LIGHT !! FOR A N95 8 GB )im prsently using a nokia e50 , and if i forget to see a sms or missed call a light keeps flashing around the joystick to remind me - my wife uses a moto razor that keeps beeping periodically to remind her that she has a unseen message or missed call - hope u get what im trying to say -:)
You need to change the product code (EURO1) to update to the latest firmware (currently v20). Many improvements!!
I tried upgrading my firmware yesterday to 15, my phone hung up and got loss during the upgrade. Could not recover anymore. Have to bring to repair shop today.
I advise you not to upgrade by all means
Hey,I can't open the map "my videos". There's a red star near the icon. How can I fix this and open it again?Grtz
Amir, it's called Firmware and not FIREwall.. anycase, when you purchased a phone from a provider (orange etc) they usually use their own product code.. and that's why you can't upgrade your firmware using Nokia Software Updater.. you need to change your product code using an application called Nemesis to a standard original Nokia code for your device and then use the Software Updater to update your firmware.
google it up.
Vodafone got the 8gb one sold first but alot people didn"t realise that them an Orange messed about with the N95 an have done so with the 8gb one thats why loads of people are having trouble upgrading the firewall,go onto www.nokiablog.com an they help you with certain codes to put in using to get help you upgrade the firewall,i usually check this site to upgrade any Nokia phone an it really helps you
No problem man, you explaind it pretty well yourself, i think your idea of going to the Service Center is the better though, its safer.
Bro, long time no hear! YES, GPS is totally FREE. It doesn't require Network connection. Built in GPS receiver of N95-2 get its signals from Satellite!
jorge, may i know, is the n95-8gb GPS totally free of charge? please reply dude...
Mate, I agree with you! You said everything right! Thanks buddy!
The reason why you only get Dual Mode and GSM is because of the Vodafone firmware, Voda for some weird reason take away the UMTS Only Mode so what you will have to do is change the product code of your N95-8GB to Euro1 product code THEN update the firmware and THEN your N95-8GB will be a generic N95-8GB and will have all the 3 Modes.
But doing all that i think will take away that GPS License. Thats what i hate about Vodacom they brand the phones with that stupid Vodafone firmware
Lots of mobile phones being released have the network BRANDING not just on the box but on the phone and in the phone's software too! Vodacom is a network branding which means they've their own firmware installed in your unit with added features, restriction, network configuration, etc. This could be one of the reasons why you don't have the UMTS option.
Your best option here is to have your unit's firmware bring up-to-date at NOKIA Service Center.
Your 2 year GPS license loaded in the Maps application with Vodacom would probably be gone/erased once you bring up-to-date your firmware. Consult your Vodacom Network provider on this matter.
