@Stephan,
Lots of mobile phones being released have the network BRANDING not just on the box but on the phone and in the phone's software too! Vodacom is a network branding which means they've their own firmware installed in your unit with added features, restriction, network configuration, etc. This could be one of the reasons why you don't have the UMTS option.
Your best option here is to have your unit's firmware bring up-to-date at NOKIA Service Center.
Your 2 year GPS license loaded in the Maps application with Vodacom would probably be gone/erased once you bring up-to-date your firmware. Consult your Vodacom Network provider on this matter.
@S1NH,
Like St_jorge mentioned, shieldzone is the best site to buy screen protector. In fact, I recently bought my screen protector from them. It is kinda expensive, but it is worth it. Material is made out of rubbery plastic, you'll never know its on your screen. I strongly suggest to buy it from shildzone.
@Kashif,
Buddy, looks like you're the 1st nokiamate here who had experienced glitches & bugs about the new firmware 15.0.015....wheeeew! Thanks for the INFO buddy! We really appreciate your INPUT(s)!
I still got the original firmware 10.0.021
Hey everyone.
Pls help! I recently got my Vodafone N95 8GB on the Vodacom network here in South Africa. I have 2 questions, one being a problem...
1. My previous 2 phones were an N80 and the normal N95. When I went into Tools/Settings/Network I could choose between Dual mode, UMTS & GSM. On my N95 8GB I can only choose between Dual mode & GSM. I stay in an area where theres barely 3G signal, but I found that when I switch it to UMTS on my previous phones I could receive 3G speed. Now my best option is Dual mode and it only picks up Edge as the fastest speed. It does not pick up 3G.
What I'd like to know is: Will a firmware upgrade add the UMTS option under Network settings?
This brings me to my 2nd question:
The 8GB version comes with a 2 year GPS license loaded in the Maps application. Will the firmware upgrade delete my 2 year subscription to GPS?
Can anyone who had the same problem please give me advice on what to do? I'd really appreciate it a lot!
Thank you in advance...
I have just upgrade my 8GB'S firmware to 15.0.015. I am browsing internet from the last 1 hour. Internet browser closed itself 3 times. Phone hangs once. Also cursor of browser starts shivering twice strangely. No doubt utube works. Phone is not balanced as was in the previous firmware. You are advised not upgrade your 8GB's firmware before reading comments in this forum.
i'd probably go to the shops tomorrow and look for that screen protector.
but for now i wont remove that plastic protector.. anyway, the bubbles (because of the dust that slipped through it)are just in the lower left of the screen where you can find that excess plastic.. you know what i mean,, ayt?
@S1NH,
This is probably the best screen protector for our N95-2, check this out http://www.shieldzone.com/form/index.html . I still have the original screen protector with my mobile phone...No bubbless, No dust, No scratches!...still intact!
@S1NH
I have taken my screen protector off too as I had bubbles appearing too...I would advise you to get a screen protector. you can buy these online or from good phone shops. Imagine how you would feel if your N95 8GB had a scratch on the screen!!!
i have a problem with the bluetooth.when i send n receiving file from another device,it works,except the JPEG format from SE.but when i send jpeg to SE, it's normal.can anyone help me please...!!!
ei is it okay if i take out the lens protector in my mobile ( the plastic one)
reason: dust slipped through it and kinna ugly when there are dusts and bubble like in the screen... what daya think?
(only n95 8gb users can reply...)

@All NOKIA Mates,

@S@K,
Mate, Nokia Video Manager is a simple Video converter that supports the ffg. video format .mp4, .3gp, .wmv, .avi, .mpeg, .mpg, .mov, & .qt
First, go to File then select Import, browse your computer for the video you want then click the CHECK button. It will then start converting your selected file into MP4.
Second, connect your mob to your computer wtih USB data cable and start transferring!
@S@K,
Mate, as far as I know available firmware depends on our mob Product code. You can check yours on this site http://www.nokia.co.uk/link?cid=EDITORIAL_799358 . Just enter your product and click GO. You'll get either version 11.0 or 15.0 then proceed to downloading. Good Luck!
