No hold on people, n96 is a good phone but come on, specs of n85 is a bit better, its not so big but still packs a nice 2.6 inch whereass the n96 is huge, the n85 has arm 11 processor , the n96 has the old arm 9 processor , n85 is alot faster , but all in all they pretty close, n96 does have 16gig hard drive , im from south africa an here the n85 and n96 is the same price, so it comes down to what you'd prefer. Both great phones, but i'd still recommend n82 as it has no flaws and is currently the fastest nseries an has the best camera on the market
Sean, 25 Jan 2009hey guys let me give u an upgrade get the new Nokia n85 it the upgraded version of this only o... moreN96 is alot better than the N85, duh.
Just look at the specs!
hi, 25 Jan 2009the phone is bad , very slow and the display have only 240x320 pixel not god qualityPlease, now. The N96 _was_ (unusably) slow until firmware 12.043 came. After upgrade (use *#0000# or Nokia Software Upgrader or leave this to a repair shop if you're afraid of bricking you phone somehow - which can happen) it actually works, and the N96 is quite a powerhouse. If you're not making INXS calls every day, you should be able to cope on one daily charge. If you can live with this - AND get used to the a bit crappy keys (why does everything HAVE TO iPhone-like these days?) - the N96 will serve you fairly good, IMHO.
Honestly - I bought mine in October '08 (then it had some pre-12.043 firmware installed) - and tried to use it for one whole day - but it is the worst user experience I've had with any phone (for 15 years of different GSM phones since the GH197). I used the N95 until 12.043 became available. Weird feeling having bought a new phone, and not using it for two months, though ;) .
If you want a real "powerhouse" phone that has the compatibility and reliability of Nokia, I'd say it's safe to go for the N96 as long as you upgrade to 12.043. If you want the smoothest _user experience_ there is, you must of course go for an IPhone instead. But then I cannot NAME the list of features you miss out on with the N96.
And actually, even if it the N97 looks really good and has corrected "all" of N96, it's still quite a beast size-wise, so I still think N96 has it's place.
I'll hopefully use it for quite a time, so let's hope Nokia churns out those firmware updates and make it even better, snappier and more stable.
Cheers from a happy 32 gig N96 owner
Lynn McNulty, 24 Jan 2009Do not buy the nokia n96 it is a terrible phone i was esursed that this was the best phone on ... morethe n96 is a good celphone i love it one thing they can say what they want but NOKIA IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD
the phone is bad , very slow and the display have only 240x320 pixel not god quality
this phone is great; the display, the design, the sound quality, the features, the storage...
...except for battery life, and especially the time it takes to change from portrait to landscape view.
a second or two would be just fine (instantaneous is a hell lot better) but the whole 14 seconds?? that sure annoys me a lot.. :(
hey guys let me give u an upgrade get the new Nokia n85 it the upgraded version of this only one bad thing about the n85 it only has 72 internal memory with an 8gb card included which BTW is more than enough lol... o and mmore talk tim on the n85 its like 6hoursand 45min or sumtin its awsome o and it has better features
The nokia n96 is by far the best nokia of the n series. I had a n81 8gb. This phone was gr8 but the n96 is wow in comparason. I would recomend a n96 for some one who wants to store loads of files however a n81 8 gb or a n95 8gb is just as affisant.
16GB internal memory is vwry good but it 950 mAH battery look week...!! and not suitable for N96
1200 mAH battery must choose for this phone. next luck!

frankie, 21 Jan 2009im tossing up between an i-phone and a nokia n96! ive had the i-phone before, but i went to th... moreyes, defenetly its the best phone.
Lots of useful features and great camera, however there seems to be an issue with the auto rotate screen facility. My phone has been back twice to correct this problem which slows the phone down and completely freezes on occasions. The shop tells me that quite a few of these phones have been sent back for the same problem. The TV feature also does not work in the UK. That saying, overall, when working, the phone is quite good.
Recently my friend told me,
Buy it and you'll charge 3x a day
for the rest of your N96 life.
You will eventually get tired of
bringing your phone or even using
it.
How can you efficient use all
that vast memory if you can't
even use the half of it due
to battery life?
Think about it you have so
many programs and features
but you're always thinking
about its battery. You will
NEVER stop worrying of its
battery life.
Better buy N85 w/c is better than this.
I have the N82. Best 5MP phone!
Still wondering about X2.
to Jackson
You must try to hard reset.. write *#7370# then press to green button. password of your phone is 12345.. Good luck.. This changes only phone memory not sim card and memory card.
this phone is a joke! there is no battery life, I make...what? 2 phone calls and I must charge this Fuc...
