I bought this mobile 3 days ago by $736. You can’t compare N96 to N95 8GB. N95 8GB got shaky slider (very very very poor slider). Other phones got small screens and no internal memory. Internal memory is more stable than external memory and you don’t have to buy one. I used N95, N95 8GB & N82. N96 is much better than these phones externally (perfect slider-wide clear screen – dual flash) and internally. N96’s battery can live at least 3 days with normal use and you can recharge it within 2 hrs not like Samsung i8510. N96 is also better than N85 which has small screen and no internal memory. The only disadvantage of N96 is the price.

If you don't need the large internal memory and DVB-H (which is useless in the UK and most other countries) I'd go for the N85. Better looking and slightly smaller with similar functions.

Anonymous, 12 Oct 2008I have had n96 for over a week now and i totally not liking it. Its got very poor performance ... morenot true. my n96 comes with n gage asphalt and it no problem in any aspect when playing. but my ph has some bugs in other areas.

I Compared this phone & G810 Samsung's Camera and G810 was so better than N96's Camera! Why Nokia always is Behind of Samsung in Camera ??!!

Glad I decided to get the i8510 5 wks ago instead of waiting for this huge disappointment of a handset to come out. Had been waiting since beginning of the year for N96 to arrive, thought yep that'll be my next upgrade from my N95, but no, they've taken so long to release the phone that it has now been overtaken as the best all round Symbian handset by the i8510.
When you get down to the specs there is hardly any improvement over the N95. That is pretty poor when you think that the original N95 was release in the UK over 18 months ago.
I am generally an admirer of Nokia handsets but I can not believe how cheap this phone feels, it's supposed to be their Flagship !
Surely there must be something more advanced than this from Nokia in the near future which hasn't been announced yet ?
Are they purposely letting the competition catch up ? Squeezing every last penny out of the N95 design ?

Its got very poor performance in graphics, its benchmarikin is just 900 something(while n95 goes to 6000 something!). The Snakes game lags in it(wth!).
Gsmarena, I think you should add the Graphics stuff too in your review, because you said, that the cpu difference wouldnt be so easy to find out in the applications, but i have to say, pls try out ngage games in it, and it would be lagging for you too( try brothers in arms, snakes itself, )

I have had mine for a few days now and i personally like the design and the phone's features. Whilst many of you complain about the battery life i work in a phone store and let me tell you all phones with this many features all have poor battery life! Furthermore, it is very very loud, good quality audio and the build seems of a very good quality, Stop complaining, whilst it is not a huge step up from the N95i, it is still the best compromise between a smartfone and a traditional fone on the market.

I'm shocked at how much Nokia has been caught with their pants down on this model.
Having just tested Samsung's i8510 innov8 highlighted how many things the N96 is missing. The list is embarrasing. On top of that is the plastic feel of the N96 and crampt keypad.
Nokia really need to pick up their game in handsets again rather than faffing around in all the other areas.
They need to sack some people. Those who left them with their pants down.
