Ok, i will make something clear now, people ar talking about Ericsson releasing an 8 mp phone, so why is Nokia releasing this? First of all, i´m a professional photographer and i will tell you that i doesnt matter how many mp u add on a phone after 5mp upwards, as long as the lens is the size it is today in phones it won´t matter if you have a 20mp phone, i don´t take photos with phones cause i use an iPhone but i will tell that of the tests we have done, u can't beat the Nokia N82 in cameraphones, we have blown up photos to large scale, and Ericsson Cybershot is miles behind the Nokia CarlZeiss, and to add on that the Nokia Xenon flash is magnificent.
So from a long time experience in the photo buisness i can tell you that the N82 CarlZeiss with Xenon will beat a even 12mp Cybershot any day of the week, just some input or advice, whatever u might see it as, Cheers.

Am I the only one who thinks this generation of nokia phones are hideous (n96, n81 etc)

I just think all the buttons on the front are unnecessary n95-8gb was near enough perfect, if it aint broke dont fix it....just give it a bigger battery lol.

And why would you need media buttons (play/pause, skip etc) twice...once again unnecessary.

There is no company in the world that can stand alone and make all its hardware, software and OS without depending on other companies. The philosophy that "No man is an island" holds true even to entities like companies. For example, the N95 camera optics is a Carl Zeiss branded which is manufactured by Konica Minolta. The N91 4GB/8GB microdrive is manufactured by Hitachi. The TFT LCD screens and flash memory are manufactured by Samsung. Bluetooth chip comes from Sun Microsystems, Incorporated if I'm not mistaken. Even the GSM/EDGE, UMTS/HSDPA, WIFI, GPS chips are manufactured by their own respective companies, I just don't know them particularly. The ARM 11 CPU of N95 is again manufactured by another company, Texas Instruments. See? All hardware, the physical and tangible objects of all Nokia phones are not manufactured by Nokia but by other companies. Nokia bought those hardware spare parts as raw materials and they assembled them into finished products.

Why has Nokia not come up with touch screen as yet...without that I think it's not a complete phone....It's better nokia start releasing phones with touch screen otherwise it's hard to compete with others. Now a days touch screen is a standard with other mobile phones....Nokia should get matured??

Nokia ought to upgrade the N95 8gb mobile to get all the N96 functions an stop releasing the N96 as alot of people will be trying out the Samsung i8510, an leave the N96 alone as people will realise you sign up for the N96 then just a month after Nokia announce an release there 8 mega=pixel camera mobile an they will be very angry with Nokia,i will be trying out the Samsung mobile if its got the symbian software on it an see if you can do what you couldn"t do with the Samsung mobiles before use any music as it tones an download themes onto it,still no offers yet for the Samsung i8510 but its supposed to be out early September

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2008whats even worse for nokia is that they allowed samsung to use the S60 platform! what are t... moreJust like the other guy, you don't know what you're saying either. You said, why Nokia allowed Samsung to use the S60 platform. You don't think first before you write. Samsung bought license from Nokia to incorporate the S60 platform to its devices like i8510, G810. But it's not Samsung alone that benefits from Nokia. Nokia buys hardware and circuitry from Samsung to assemble their phones. A Nokia phone like N95 8GB will not be complete if it doesn't have a TFT LCD screen which is manufacture by Samsung. Another hardware Samsung made that Nokia uses in their phones is the flash memory (drive C). So don't ask why Nokia has to allow Samsung to use the S60. Because it's a give and take relationship that goes in among all the companies. Samsung buys software from Nokia, and Nokia buys hardware from Samsung. Nokia can't produce their own hardware. They can only assemble the hardware that they buy from other companies into finished product.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970I guess you don't know what you're talking about. Samsung is the number 1 electronics company in the world. They don't make toys. They manufacture virtually every electronic appliance, machinery, equipments, gadgets, processors, computer hardwares and so on... It's not impossible that Samsung can surpass Nokia in making great mobile phones. South Koreans are more high tech than Finnish.

hmm n96 doesnt need to be 8megapixel to be "complete" its a good 5 megapixel on its own it definitely will deliver great photos and videos ^_^

All i am saying is n95 n95 8gb n8... morei think IMO that all these fones are releasing october onwards such as xperia,,n96,,c905 and so on as if they are going to make it part of all their xmas portfolios,,because just cause they are released it still takes time to ship and get to shops and pre-orders get the first shipments....just an idea but since i have n82 and the uk model is shipping with dvb-h disabled its only the bigger screen and bigger internal memory thats different,,all sites even wat mob and stuff mag etc are saying if you have n95gb etc keep that plus 16gb micro-sd should be on sale by xmas fully
