iluvmyn82, 28 Jul 2008i just learned that n96 strays away from usual top of the line processor, texas instrument oma... moregood analysis there..

it will now come down to buyers personal preference.

on my part, i like value friendly phones with good camera thats why i have Nokia N82

hopefully in the future, nokia will come up with an integrated device, combine their best departments seen on their past devices into one device including business features seen in Eseries, it will become the ultimate phone and it will become my upgrade for Nokia N82 in the future.

additional MP is not necessary in my opinion..
DIVX is not necessary because they have good media player already..
(must not add this features because it will just add up to the price)

with this integration and new fresh design with a sleek touchscreen, iPhone style and with the price on the minimum, it will be a win win device of all time.

i just learned that n96 strays away from usual top of the line processor, texas instrument omap cpu, and used instead a still not so familiar "nomadik" cpu. 3d graphics accelerator has been taken out of the box. and some sort of DSP was installed instead optimized for video and music playback. so from here, we can draw a conclusion that n96 is meant for media playback and live tv broadcast. it has a 5mp carl zeiss camera lens and shoots 30fps vga videos but it's not the best in that department. has ngage & landscape gaming support but without the 3d graphics chip means gaming is only a part of its do-it-all capabilities but not what it's specialized into. has the dsp chip and 16gb plus 2 batches of music/media controls but the dsp is optimised only in audio decoding of video files, kinda weird..still won't dethrone n91 or n81 8gb in audio quality.
so here's the run down of how n96 stands as member of flagship devices:
n90 - flagship camera phone in 2mp department
n91 - dated flagship music phone
n92 - dated flagship dvb-h phone
n93/i - flagship in video department (still the best videocamcorder phone up to now in video encoding quality and stereo audio encoding)
n95/8gb - flagship all-in-one device
n96 - flagship all-in-one device focusing on video playback & live tv broadcast.
n82 - flagship camera phone 5mp category
n81/8gb - music & gaming phone focusing on audio quality & ideal gaming
n80 - dated flagship all-in-one device
n78 - middle class all-in-one device focusing on music
n76 - slim smartphone focusing on music
n75 - america's version of n76
n73 - flagship camera phone 3mp category
n72 - n70 for gsm market only
n71 - (n/a)
n70 - classic symbian smartphone
as you can analyze, n96 is not meant to replace nor succeed the n95/8gb. they're on the same category with n96 specializing on a specific department.

Man this phone is Bangin! The best phone i have ever had, very fast, spectacular photos, very usable ther is no doubt in my mind that it blows the rest of the brands out of the water! sorry all the iphone has is the touch screen Big deal - very unpractical and feature lacking phone.
