As far as i know the N96 has got quite a few chips handling its Multimedia. It has a seperate Video acceleration chip, an audio chip processing chip that works with the video chip in Videos and MobileTV to deliver great sound and video quality, its also got the DVB-H chip for the TV and then all this is handled by the STMicrotronics 264mhz Dual CPU and then NOKIA also threw in an Accelerometer and some kind of acceleration sensor, must say this baby is loaded with loads of hardware, i think thats why it doesn't need as much processing (clock cycles) as the N95.
16 million dull colours. what a waste. i should be paid to use this plaastic toy
Anonymous, 03 Jul 2008I fully agree with you. Take in consideration also the fact that for a 2Mpx camera the resolut... moreDual core doesn't mean it doubles the frequency of the processor, but rather allows you to do more things at the same time, like listening to music and surfing the internet.
G, 01 Jul 2008more megapixels just means a bigger picture size, not quality..you could have a 10mp really ba... moreI fully agree with you. Take in consideration also the fact that for a 2Mpx camera the resolution is 1600x1200, more than enough for the average LCD monitor you will probably see the pictures on. Is not the resolution that matters the most.
Patoro7, 03 Jul 2008The N96 has a DUAL ARM9, at least according to these specifications.You mean 528 MHZ ?
n96 is not a touch screen but can touch scorling button like a touch screen.want 2 do a small touch to scorel.is it true or lie.
Blay, 03 Jul 2008If you want us to believe you, you'd better bring some evidence.go to u tube type noika touch tube then u will found
MIKE, 02 Jul 2008Dear Miant , plz read carefully ! it has dual ARM 264MHZ cpu . it means 528 MHZ !!!I posted earlier a question about the processor the N96 uses. If someone has official information about this, please post it on this forum.
Probably a dual-core processor is not an option, so I guess they've thrown in two ARM 9 264 MHz processors. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this. But it's totally excluded to make a sum of their clock rates (528 MHz) since there are two processors and each runs at their own speed.
The question was: what did Nokia have in mind with this configuration? A central processing unit (one processor) and a graphic processing one (the other)? Battery life improved? Performance improved?
strictly on the design aspect of things, it looks good, but not effective. for example why do u need music navigation on the face when you have a dual sliding side for separate music controls. its just wasting space. I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that nokia will make QUALITY parts on the body for keys and memory card door. Most of the nokia keys get scratched and faded. But all in all I support nokia because im a huge fan. I dont judge books by the covers.
