@ anonymous:
well that may be true
i agree with ur statement -

" I would prefer an all-rounder justifiably equipped phone to an over-equipped one I'll likely end up not using half of its gadgetry, while lacking ones I crave for "

but maybe everyone's different, coz to me, i would feel bored having a phone with all of it's function i know and i use, it feels like there's nothing else to learn out there, u're stuck with those, well that's how i feel when i bought W900i, so i went back to Nokia and bought N76, now bought N95 8gb, and will buy N96 in the future.
i dont noe bout u, but if it's me, i feel good having a very advance phone in my hand and taking it anywhere, i feel complete =)

All the people wanting the N96 please keep off the U.k sellers on Ebay.co.uk saying they are selling it as i think they are all scams just for your money,so keep a close eye on the sellers as i have seen on seller offering it for sale but is listings were a exact copy of chinese seller on the Canadian site an he told me it was a tri-band one with only a 1.3 megapixel camera on it a 2gb memory card limit so WATCH OUT now or you might be losing loads of money

That is $1,200 for the US market! Now, I am sure most people are sensible enough to get the phone for free on a 12-18 month contract with a network, but there's sure to be one or two morons out there who cant wait for the Nokia Touch Tube, which will be out later this year

Spotted Viper, 31 May 2008Hi all. Every time I'm about to buy a nokia phone, some specs really set me off. Take the N96.... moreThere are still some supposed issues of this device that keep readers from seeing facts.

1. "bulky". The N95 was a revolutionary device with tons of features in a compact design. You can't possibly tell me that its shape can be seen from your pocket. Well, this N96 is thinner and as volume, it is smaller than the N95. It is a bit wide due to the screen dimensions. But compared to the N95, it is smaller and does a lot more than its predecessor.

2. Battery (omnipresent problem). The review on mobile-review.com states that the N96 (950mAh) can outperform the N95 8GB (1200mAh) in battery life. Optimizations made by Nokia will make the difference for sure.

3. The dual-LED flash is a compromise, because it can deliver much more light than a normal LED, but it can still be used for video, unlike the xenon flash.

4. DVB-H. It is true that this service is not available in many countries. This feature is also meant to encourage the spread of non-streaming mobile TV.

5. Mobile Office editors are available. This software is not part of the phone OS, but its installation in the phone would solve the problem.

Oh, and another thing:
6. Price. The question that comes is "what would you expect from the feature pack that this phone has to offer?", which is a pretty logical question in my opinion. Thing is, that if you wait for the price to drop, even better handsets will be released. It is a matter of choice.

And I can safely say it's no way near the W800i in the music & imaging departments. So, you see. It isn't about being complete, it's about being convenient. Wish you get the N96 though:)

You may be right. Just mind it isn't all about being perfect, it's more about being the most convenient. The old W-branded fighter gave me the richest experience despite its shortfalls.I would prefer an all-rounder justifiably equipped phone to an over-equipped one I'll likely end up not using half of its gadgetry, while lacking ones I crave for. Take the to-be-released LG Secret for ex. Now, That's what I'm talking about...well, almost:) Despite it isn't as much loaded as the N96, it screems complete, sort of. let's wait for a full review. Hope it'll prove my theory right.

nah, i don't quite agree..
nothing's perfect dude, that's what it's all about i think..
almost perfect, yes often that happens, but there has never been a perfect phone yet
w800i was good, but remember, it was missing 3G at that time, compare to N70 that came out around the same time? it has 3G..

so i reckon N96 is good enough, makes me drool enough to get it =P

Hi all. Every time I'm about to buy a nokia phone, some specs really set me off. Take the N96. It's sure a killer, just with a catch... or a handfull of. Take size for ex., it's v. bulky. 2nd, battary life :(. 3rd, great camera, but why not xenon flash?! 4th, DVB-H TV, not likely in my country before say 5,6 yrs, so why not also an ordinary local tv receiver?! it sure 'll be a cool feature. 5th, why not a doc editor?!.... I can go on forever.

Problem is other brands are no different. All are trading off one way or another! I miss the time of one-phone-got-it-all, speak about my good ol' w800i. Best camera, best music, highest internal memory at its time. Won't these days come back? who agrees?

On the internet there are the CNet N96s available an i have just bought one to get used to the N96 before it becomes available on the 31st July at a unbelieveable price £599 sim-free so this mobile will not be a much after mobile to everyone, after all the hype about the N96 it will not turn out to be good seller for Nokia

If you're going to use the DVB-H feature here in the beautiful country of the Philippines, it's absolutely free. But I don't think the battery will last long in watching TV bearing in mind the large screen and other radios put into it. So for potential buyers, hold your breath. If you already have a N95, better stick with that for the moment. If you don't have a N95, better get one or a N95 8GB than N96. It's not impossible Nokia will release a revamped improved version of N96 later leaving early buyers regretting and miserable for their impatience. Nokia always do that! Well, unless you have a lot of money to waste, then buy this unpredictable phone as soon as it gets into the shelves.

any of u think that Nokia N96i or Nokia N96 music edition or maybe even Nokia N96-32gb edition will come out?
somehow i have a feeling, not long after it's released..the next gen of the phone will come out..

and we'll be like...ohhh sh*t damn u Nokia..i should have waited..bla bla bla...well kinda like the case with N95 then N95-8gb came out i guess, i know there's a gap around half a year, but still..isn't it frustrating to see Nokia releasing a better one when we just got our hands on their flagship phone?!

To tell everyone honestly, for sure the first released of this is will be loads of bugs. Just like the Nokia N95. This phone will be perfect only if Nokia give it a longer battery life. This phone has so many features that the battery will not be able to support it for a period of time.
