        Hi All,

I have had a big psrt in producing this handset. and its not going to be very good. it has a ram of 65mb which is about half of the nokn95 so if you expecting to do muilitple tasks you can't

I agree about the batteries in N-series phones. They are weak. I had an N95 for a while and I kid you not, I needed to be near power outlet if I wanted to you most of its features. I used the web browser and music player alot, and my phone only lasted less than 4 hrs a day. I used to think people exaggerated about it but its true. A phone with poor battery life unusable in my opinion, so I recently bought the Apple iPhone, and I must say I am pleased. I know, lots of you think I'm an idiot for this but the iPhone does for me what I want out of a phone. Sleek, great OS, great sound and video quality, and an excellent browsing experience. And I can do all this and my phone lasts me all day with atleast half the battery left. Call me crazy but I honestly never used the features the N95 is known for, like GPS, and 5MP camera, and I'm sorry but I am not too crazy about symbian. But still this N96 looks very promising. What would be very great is if Nokia released an N series phone with all these features, a qwerty keyboard, and atleast a 1500 mah battery. Then life would be grand.

I am surprise to see N96. It is really cool. It is like a convergence of N95 (5 megapixel camera, gps receiver, Hsdpa, tv out), N77 (DVB-H), and N81 (design). It is a new upgraded product fr Nokia. It has really mass memory space for my storage. I love it. Cant wait to see the real unit

Thank you so much for clearing alot of uncertainties I had on this phone, hopefully nokia's product manager will live up on what he said and all the articles you posted regarding the N96. This is a worthy upgrade for my N82.
Can't waite for my new toy!

                    Hey Steve J.

I've waiting specifically for your post.

It's clear you obviously misinterpret light power vs light energy. Nor do you understand what a "Mobile Handset". If so, the phrase "compact digital camera" wouldn't be used as an argument, better yet, mentioned at all in this forum.

The key to clear pictures is LIGHT ENERGY - the total amount of light that fills a camera's pixels during image-capture time. LIGHT POWER refers to the intensity of a flash. An LED flash, powered by a super capacitor, delivers lower light power over a longer flash exposure time for total Light Energy that exceeds most Xenon flashes.

Digital cameras are equipped with xenon flashes SOLELY because "Xenon produces more light power and only microseconds of illumination", like you clearly stated. Thus enabling digital camera to take action shots in low light. This is mainly why compact digital cameras prefer xenon flashes. But that's all digital cameras can do, and are meant for... high quality shots.

Here's where high current LEDs reign. In addition to being able to take high quality still shots, the same LEDs can be used in video recording. Digital cameras need a separate LED for video. This is why high current LEDs are better, especially in MOBILE HANDSETS.

In regards to your comment, "...NO manufacturer has considered LED because it is an inferior solution.", Nokia IS NOT the manufacturer that have incorporated high current LEDs. Gsmarena.com own previewed Sony Ericsson C902 uses this technology as well.

Optimization is the key when size, efficiency, and duration comes into play. I asked before, is the solution to newly add hardware a bigger battery? If it is so, then we will ultimately have phones equaling in size of the first cell phones ever made. Like i said before, installing batteries with different mAh ratings WILL NOT AFFECT the operation of a device rated for a specific voltage UNLESS the load limits of the battery are exceeded. The rating is used to find the duration of a battery pack given a CERTAIN DRAW. Therefore, the EFFICIENCY of a battery is different at different discharge rates aka usages. When discharging at low rate, the battery's energy is delivered more efficiently than at higher discharge rates.

@All, who says NOKIA is useless.
Look NOKIA is giving people what they want and the way they want.
I have a N70 which is more than 30 months old. After having all the funs with it for two years now i am using it as a edge modem.
I gave my 18 month old N73 to my cousine and he is using it without any problems at all.
Now, 2 months ago i bought N82,it has everything i could ask for.
You guys say useless, hmmmm i wonder why?
Look guys i dont say NOKIA is the GOD of all manufecturers but i can surely admit that they are the most reliable one.
About N96 well if you see any other fon from samsung or se with that lot of features or superior please inform me.
                        NOKIA ROCKS.

I do not agree with Ying and his rhetoric on the N96. Dual high current LED flash is no match for Xenon. Compact digital cameras need to be conscious of size yet NO manufacturer has considered LED because it is an inferior solution. The fact is that Xenon produces more light power and only microseconds of illumination is needed. The fact is that to save space Nokia chose an inferior solution.
Another point is that Nokia overpacked this device with features. They already have TV phones in the N92 and N77. There was no need to add DVB-H to an already overburdened device. Anyway what is done is done but then they need to power up the battery. No amount of optimisation will make up for the weak battery. It is time Nokia sat down, meditated and improved lightweight high powered batteries instead of blitzing the public with a plethora of features that cannot be adequately powered.

I think people don't yet realize what incredible device is that! It may look like same old Nokia but the company itself has overdone! They could have done maybe a little bit better over the design and ergonomics, and not least the battery. 950 mAh will only offer frustrations for the owners. But anyway THIS IS A PIECE ART WORK! IT'S TOMORROW! IT'S THE FUTURE! IT IS "SF"! Just take a look at its specifications. There are no "NO"'s. It has everything and above.
