Well, im due for an upgrade within the next week and after much thought and comparisons of various makes and models, ive come down to the N96 or N85. Both Phones are amazing. Im very sceptical over the N97 due to a couple of friends who have purchased similar phones - if something happens to that touch screen, it would be more economical to buy a complete new phone, another point for N97 is that its near impossible to sit down with the phone still in your pocket (could cause damage to touch-screen). But for what that phone can do is out of this world.
Im leaning heavily on the N96, i need it mainly for its camera/memory/storage space, and its also complimented by a 2.8inch screen (slightly bigger than N85). both have similar functions. I guess that at the end of the day, it boils down to what you exactly want in a phone - and there are many to chose from. - tailor the phone to suite your style.
Ive heard allot about software problems on the N96 as well as the somewhat dissapointing battery life.
A friend jokingly told me just to get a 2nd battery, but thats not the point. Ive heard you can switch from 3g, to 2g to try and increase battery life, will this help?
Also, its got a slower processor than the N95? what the hell were the Finns thinking of? - im assuming this has caused the "freezing" that many of you have mentioned below? whats the reliability like on this phone?
It's a very good cellular phone and if you are an true multimedia monsterthen i would suggest you to go with this phone becasue it has play music, watch movies, play games, everything is possible. The image is sharp and is easy to read subtitles. The N96 comes with a 5 mega pixel camera that is able to make beautiful pictures and make videos. Surfing the internet on this N96 is no problem. The phone supports UMTS and HSDPA, making you almost as fast Internet access at home. The N96 has a Dual ARM CPU 9264 MHz processor with 128mb RAM. The device runs on the new symbian OS 9.3 S60 OS. Like the N95, the Nokia N96 with a dual slider at one end to the regular keypad and the other special multimedia keys. The internal memory of this smartphone is a whopping 16gb and that is through a microSD memory further expandable with 8gb. I BOught my N96 to try and make me look cool but people saw straight through my insecurity and they all still think im a ravin Homo.
hi guys anyone know how to get jizz stains off the screen on these phones???
In a dilemma..deciding among SE C905, Nokia N85 and Nokia N96. Any advice?
To whom it may concern:
I am from South Africa, Western Cape,
I purchased my handset at the Parow/Sanlam centre
Vodacom shop in March 2009
I would really appreciate it if someone could contact me from Nokia.
My problem is as follows:
I have upgrade my vodacom contract from an N73 to N96 because I liked the advertised features.
Unfortunately for me the phone only worked properly for 3 mnths. The handset tend to freeze at times and could only be switch on when the battery was removed. It also tend to allow message to come through without a sim card being inserted into the handset.I took the phone into the shop where I purchased it was repaired 3 times. Eventually after much fighting and anxiety. I was provided with a Brandnew handset from the Service provider. I have had the handset in my possession for a period of almost 2 days when the same problem occured. This is so frustrating, as I have purchased the handset as part of my upgrade (contact). I would like to know what my options are with regard to this matter.

The Nokia n96 is a pretty sick phone, i live in San Diego so nobody can get it here, that's why i'm ordering one from china, it has'nt arrived yet but i cant wait to get it. I think the Nokia n96 is a great phone and it also has dual slide, movies, music,a sick stand, and it's also awsome to show off to your friends!
im a proud owner of this handset
i must say it is the best in terms of being user friendly and all the features are a pleasure
the only dissatisfaction i get from the phone is the dull materials used and the dust particles that get in between the screen, ive had it for over 7 months and already ive replaced the whole casing of the phone...
im even considering to change the handset to the little brother, the N85(8GB) which packs a punch against the N96,it may be a little limited in terms of memory and DVB-H but it does the job, allong with the 8meg camera. so overall. the N96 is the best! but if you looking to purchase an equally competitive handset, i recomend the N86(8GB) THE QUALITY IS FAIR...
Even afta da realese of N97 i stil value da N96 bigtym n sum thing lyk DVH-B is nt available in da N97.... Total respect 4 da N96 coz N97 cnt stil ma luv 4 N96 jst becoz of da touch screen n im going to use ma N96 until they release a more convincing...
