i had a question.
i'm stuck between [getting] the Nokia N97 in white, and getting it in black.
i read about some problems with the camera-lens cover, that it "scratches the lens". i read that this happened to some [older] batches[/releases] of the phone, and i'm guessing that by now that issue has been fixed, since i'm no longer reading complaints about it (or about anything else, for that matter).
but i'm wondering if this is a case like in the case of the Xperia X1, where the "silver"-colored Xperia X1 had problems of "cracks appearing in the case for no reason at all, all of a sudden", but the "black"-colored Xperia X1 DIDN'T have those problems. and, if you get the "black"-colored one instead of the "silver"-colored one, you avoid those problems.
i'm wondering if that's the case here with the Nokia N97, that if you get one color you avoid having the "scratched lens" problem but if you get it in the other color you have the "scratched lens" problem. or if by now, the issue has been fixed, and no matter what color you choose, you have no problems whatsoever [with the phone].
that and, i've found that white-colored products tend to show their "bruises" and stains and marks of wear and tear and use, much faster and easier than black-colored products (black scratch-marks on white-colored plastics and metals, you know what i mean?)
kjsre, 15 Mar 2010Hi all, if i use the Ovi map on my N97 offline, will gps data apply?Yes, it works offline and so you dont need any data plan
i tend to disagree with all of you that are complaining... have had mine for quite a while now and it is the best phone... has given me no problem what so ever... love it... so to all the people who are comparing their iphones to this phone, go do it on ur so called "amazing" phones page...

How come can nokia call this its flagship phone
My current e90 (the n97 belongs to my mom) and my bro n81 speakers are much much much better
Its a shame
vish, 10 Mar 2010update your firmware to the latest and always have atleast 25MB free memory in C: drive...Thanks, but fyi I only use 4 GB but still it's so slowww
At first it seems there is no problem on this phone but when I load it with songs and videos ( not really of big memory ) that where problem started. Especially the song files, after adding some, refreshing the song, some files are missing, and the battery life is so short when you use it as your music player.
If you are a music buff, buy a lower model and buy yourself a seperate music player, this phone is not a reliable hi-end CP, use it on the basics its OK, use it with its feature = PROBLEM!
I bought mine (which is made in China) for US80, i would like to ask everyone opinion about the pro and contra of buying made in China HandPhone, kindly advise
A&E, 12 Mar 2010Does anyone knows if I can download messenger for this phone?of course
Had my N97 since last September, no complaints, haven't had any major problems with my N97, camera is good, music is good, I have Fring so that I can Skype, new V21.0.045 software seems to be pretty good, lots of memory, screen doesn't explode like iphone, charge it every few days.
All in all an excellent phone.
Worst Touch screen mobile ever, this is'nt my Kind of phone, well nokia is new to touch screen, so maybe nokia might finally bring out a Decent Touch screen Mobile in the Future, but for Me, I love my iphone 3GS Much better.
Its a good phone, if you hav'nt had any other phone, but i think its bland & boring, now where's my iphone.
Nokia N97 music quality is absoulte cool like ipod but camera quality not so good,,,
It is not possible to please everyone i have had this phone for 8 months with no problems and i am very happy with it.A happy N97 owner
I bought my Nokia N97 in August 2009 for Eur 650 and it is the worst phone I have ever had, and to make matters worse nobody seems to want it.
I wrote to Nokia directly and I have not received any response to date.
This will be the last Nokia phone I would ever buy.
loads of money for the worst nokia ever built. I bought mine in oct. 2009 (as I was a nokia fan and had tried mostly all of their smartphones till now) but it showed to be the worst choice ever. After only few months of use, the battery dies in approximately 6-8 hours (normal use like few calls, some internet browseing). Internal phone memory is 73.0 Mb (less than most of the phones on the market have) and most of the useless applications that come preinstaled when you buy the phone are built-in, which makes them undeletable; after a short time the phone memory is full, meaning you have to be careful all the time how you manage your phonemem. The CPU is much too week for a 32gb phone with those kind of app (is 430MHz) and if you try the run a few apps at the same time the phone blockes or run very slow (even the usual things like tipeing a message work slow).
And the most enoying thing of all: for a phone which wort more than 500 Eur you have to pay for f***... everything!!! all the apps are free trial!!! and after they expire you can not uninstal all delete them, they remain useless in your phone and take half of the memory!!! see adobe reader for ex... I can not see a .pdf file, if i don't pay 17$... comeon Nokia, it's a f***... 500 eur phone.
Nokia gives free GPS, Nokia maps. Good, but it instales directly on the phone mem, you can't put the software in mass memory (32 Gb just good to s**t on). Free software and so less memory to install it, cause the phone is full with useless trial software, like Qik, Boingo, QuickOffice, Adobe, Joikuspot.
This was my last nokia! I'm planing to sell it and go back to sonny erricson as soon as they lounch the xperia x10 and I have access to some rewiews.
Hands off guis, doesn't worth a penny this phone, just google search for it and read all the comments!
before i start i have the satio phone but i am not here to start tit for tat which is the better phone but until about 2008 i was a big nokia fan but i like smart phones with great a camera i just wondered if any of you agree that nokia seem to lag behind most of the other brands now when it comes to the camera side of there phones
