Randomly it wou... moredo you find that it is a particular app that causes your phone to reboot? or does it just do so randomly with various different apps? the web browser is quite unstable and does crash occasionally, but i've never had a problem with it rebooting my phone. i would probably do a hard reset if i were you. because if you take a phone to a repair shop that's what they'll probably do. there are a few sites showing you how to hard reset; just google it. be sure to back up all your files on your memory card or pc because hard resetting restores the phone's factory settings. you will lose all content on c drive, but your e drive should be ok.
gabby131, 22 Dec 2009hmmm...this problem was common for some of my fellows who uses other s60 phones, According to ... moreso are you saying that dropping the phone causes the problem with the reboot? for me, this may be the case because before i dropped mine (about a month ago) it rebooted fine most of the time (though i had to hard reset once). but for the past 2 weeks, every time i restart the phone it gets stuck on the nokia screen of death. i have read on some online forums that if you get your phone flashed, it does fix the problem but only temporarily. i'm still hoping that it will be fixed with upcoming firmware updates. fingers crossed. it's annoying because this reboot problem is really the only problem i have with my phone.
Hi all, I need help on one thing.
Lately my N97 has been doing a weird thing. Randomly it would reboot itself when I exit an application or the web browser. It just does the same thing as on a PC when u hit Refresh on a slow computer (it just reloads the wallpaper and widgets and shows the home screen). This thing just started 2 weeks back even though it has the v20 firmware.
I need to know if I need to hard reset it or not? And how do u hard reset the N97?
Anyone please help ASAP.
Thanks in advance.
Planning to buy N 97. Can any tell be how serious is the hanging problem? How long battery last after charging? Some please give feed back
very good Nokia! being a nokia man and also having owned n96, n95 8gb and most n series nokias. I am well happy with my n97, i have had it 4 2 months now its crashed once. camera doesnt seem quite as good as n96 [though its the same] facebook app is great as well. V happy me!!
Butterfly, 22 Dec 2009thanks for commenting back so quickly! i really appreciate it. i went into the phone shop and ... morei believe there are settings in the phone "language" just set the settings to Japanese (though not all n97 have it, and phone will restart) after that, set up the "writing language". my n97 has Indonesia, Malaysia, Mandarin, English and a language in a unreadable alphabet in my case.
Larry, 22 Dec 2009the memory card trick can be used if your n97 won't turn on and you are stuck on the white nok... morehmmm...this problem was common for some of my fellows who uses other s60 phones, According to the customer support, this problem might be "bugs" but others say (those who fix mobile phones that are not connected to nokia or any others) its a "hardware" problem, i dont know w/c is w/c but, this case happened to my nokia s60v2 (cant remember the model), i dropped it on a moist concrete, it was still good back then, but when i start to use the phone for 3 days after the incident, the 'not booting, stuck on nokia' always happens, i took the phone to a right guy that can fix it, but the answer that i get was "the memory chip that boots your phone to its functionality has already been poorly damage" he added that he can fix it, but its just temporary, it'll break again.
Anonymous, 22 Dec 2009ive been unhappy with this phone since i bought it! its beautiful but performance sucks. it ha... moredid you drop it from a great height? i've dropped my n97 3 times in the 3 months i've had it, from about a height of half a metre (and one time i dropped it onto concrete) and i haven't seen any difference in performance of the phone or screen. and i don't have any protective cover either except for a stick-on screen protector. i've had a few hanging problems with this phone but as far as durability and sturdiness goes, i'm more than satisfied. other touchscreen phones would not have fared so well.
is there any body who can help me about the difrences between the nokia n97 manufactured in chia & nokia n97 made in finland ?
this mobile is very bad and ugly . most of the modern nokia phones is ugly i a can't understand why nokia use stupid designers . nokia must fair them . and mabey close all nokia factories
Lately Nokia is making bad software. E65 was my most bugged mobile, now N97 is a load of c***. Touch screen works only after you realy push hard, menu system is not logical, and customisation of this menu is horrible.
Better buy a BLACKBERRY or APPLE iPhone. You won't like this one.
I changed the product code from Philippines V2 Black to Indonesian V2 Black and the 'dot' and 'comma' were interchanged. Is this normal to Indonesian Nokia N97? I changed the product code to acquire the Chinese and Japanese fonts. So everytime I write a text, I HAVE to press the 'shift' key just to input the 'dot'
ive been unhappy with this phone since i bought it! its beautiful but performance sucks. it hangs even after i updated the software (after being advised by others). the screen is a piece of crap. i dropped it ONE time and the screen is gone. the phone still works but thats pointless because the screen is dead. pathetic phone. i wouldnt encourage anyone to get it.
thanks for commenting back so quickly! i really appreciate it. i went into the phone shop and they were clueless so im glad i found this site. im debating over getting a silver one or a black one. does anyone know if theres been any problems with either of them (eg the silver style gets dirty easier)?
butterfly, 22 Dec 2009hey guys! im thinking about buying N97 but i have one question for those who already own them.... moresorry left out some stuff about japanese! my n97 came with prelaoded apps for japanese stuff didnt understand them so i deleted it from my apps!!!
