I bought the Nokia N97 five days ago and it is really great phone.
I was hesitating between 5530XM & 5800XM & N97 & iphone 3GS. The first one is so plasticy and has a small screen, while the 5800 looks cheap, in addition that it doesn't have widgets or shortcuts on its homescreen which I love. The iphone is always the same, nothing new, it looks like I am using the same old first iphone, Apple doesn't get bored??
N97 has all the thing I wanted in a cellphone and more, but that kinetick damn scrolling feature.
At last, after a little phisical try and tests on all of them, I decieded to have the N97. I'm just eagerly waiting for the Kinetick Scrolling feature, although I know it was unavailable when I bought my device. Anyway, it's great phone and it does worth all the money I paid for.

I had 2 off handsets from new and it was flawed.I had issues with touch screen lock switches on both handsets and over heating battery allwithin 10 days. I love Nokia's and planned to up grade to the N97 form my N82 handset. But this has put me off Nokia. I am now waiting for the samsung pixon 12 on O2 or the new sony ericsson unit with 12 megapixel to be released.
Am looking at buying an N97 but have a few questions...
Have heard that the N97 is not so great on reception and am also wondering if you can take the active standby/internet shortcuts off the home screen and just have a normal background?
Can anyone help me out before I part with my precious $$$....????
My handset freezes/hangs 4 times a day. Need to re-insert battery. Often does not handle simple requests like receiving call while gaming is on. Looks like I am unlucky with this particular handset. Have you had any such problems?
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2009Probably because of the horrible way the touchscreen works, single tap this, double tap that, ... moreI agree i bought thinking it was gonna be some kind of rival to the i phone but it was pathetic. Hard to navigate, download time takes ages, small screen for the youtube, no facebook chat. the thing is a joke for the smartphone. Bought it one day sold it the next..
