zionXT, 29 Jul 2009I have owed this phone for 3 weeks now! I'm making this comment to point out some straight fac... moreTrue man True everything you said is True and to the Point. this is the 5th day i have my N97 and it is outstanding. updated it directly when i bought it from Nokia.
if some1 has doubts about this phone as some1 who have used it not pple who want to criticise this phone especially the i-phone fans...
I have owed this phone for 3 weeks now! I'm making this comment to point out some straight facts about the N97 & to avoid some of the misleading comments of other people who hates the N97 w/out even having tried it for themselves.
1st...The Phone is NOT SLOW as stated by a lot of people. The real issue is weather the phone delivers a satisfactory level of speed when using it! The answer is a BIG YES! It does not mean that if it has a mid-ranged CPU then it will be slow! Many things are to be considered especially the configurations that Nokia made to make it work w/ the s60 5th. it has even a faster CPU than the N95 w/c has already earned it's reputation.
2nd...The keyboard issue is just all about getting used to it! I bet most of the people who have tried typing in the N97 & complained about it has never even tried to type from a mobile phone keyboeard before w/c is ofcourse small compared to normal keyboards. I was typing fast w/ this phone actually in a just a day of using it.
3rd...The phones biggest downfall i think is the firmware! Almost all of the complains about the phone is about its usability & stability! But all of these problems can be SURELY fixed in the next firmwares to come so DONT WORRRY!
4th...The Resistive Screen sensitivity is i would say very responsive! sometimes its as sensitive as the capacitive screen of the iphone! considering its a resistive screen that needa a little pressure for it to register as a touch or swipe is very good! I dont any other resistive screen phones make it more better than what they have done in the n97!
5th...When it comes to design! well its very obvious that it's a looker! everytime i use my phone in public, people can't help it but to stare at my phone! haha! its a good feeling when you own the phone!
6th...Lastly! overall the phone is great & we could expect things to be better w/ the continious growth of the OVI store & better versions of Firmware to come! then we can say that the N97 is worth the money! You will never be bored w. the phone & it almost have everything that you need! in fact i have not been using my laptop now for 2 weeeks since i got this phone!
I hope this will help others decide! I'm a happy user of the phone! DONE!
New Era in Cell phon, 29 Jul 2009Once someone uses an iPhone 3gs it is really hard to go back to conventional phones like any n... more"a handicapped smartphone" People still today want the n95.
Its an amazing phone and i didnt put any apps on it,enjoyed it fully for 2 years.

New Era in Cell phon, 29 Jul 2009Once someone uses an iPhone 3gs it is really hard to go back to conventional phones like any n... moreAnd what is OVI doin then :S
u think Nokia made OVI for fun lol, or that they were bored so they said hey lets make OVI lol
dude now almost everyone has an app store...
follow the path the path of Apple, yeah right for you Apple is GOD.
get real man...
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Once someone uses an iPhone 3gs it is really hard to go back to conventional phones like any nokia or samsung.
Nowdays everyones perception of a good phone has changed dramaticaly.
Before apple, people used to look for design factor-megapixel-ect
Now the conventional specs only effect 50% of ones perception of a good device.
The rest is app store kind noveltys.
Every smart phone needs a decent appstore or it will be doomed and considered a handicapped smart phone that you need to change when a better one comes up.
Hence the new models every few months n95-n96-n97 ...
Manufacturers have to wake up and and follow the path that apple has opened ahead of them.
app store is the key.
Very lucky iPhone user
nokia n97(black) is the best best mobile phone...................thank you.....everybody.
Tin Le from Footscra, 29 Jul 2009Hi Guys,
I just got the N97 and so far i like it, but i`ve got no games.. and i tried downl... moreHi mate....this is prob the most annoying thing about the newer nokia handsets....
You can download them from N-Gage but they cost approx £5stg...
Hope this helps.
i have N97, this phone almost perfect, except for the office, it doesn't have editor. only for viewing, under the quick manager it has the download file for the quick office upgrade for enabled edit for the word, excel, powerpoint, when you download, still not working, and even paid for the edit 3x still not working, m starting to piss off with this n97, or nor the nokia, why can't you make it perfect, instead of releasing nokia phone still not complete, thats why you cannot meet your target!!!!
The only issue I have (and that is stopping me from going for it) is that the screen does not go all the way down like the 9300. It stays upto a max point. I still use the Nokia 9300 and can adjust the screen angle depending on the light shinning/available, whether on the table or walking...
do any of you have the following problems with your n97?
1)the vibration is weak and sounds crap.
2)the lock and unlock slide key does not work 100%.
3)these problems get worse when the battery is low.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970omnia HD should be on top of your list.. by far!! Nothing comes close on overall aspect. I hope next N will have this kind of specs. I love Nokia, but does nokia loves me in return with satisfying flagship? Lol.. Maybe I have to wait until Sep 1-2 to find the answer. I hate waiting (again).
Tin Le from Footscra, 29 Jul 2009Hi Guys,
I just got the N97 and so far i like it, but i`ve got no games.. and i tried downl... moreYou can:
1- sign in OVI store and download games
2- N-Gage and download games
3- browse the internet for N97 games S60V5, (will also work for the 5800).
4- Go to Downloads application in your N97 menu, and check what is available for download.
Sum guy in sa is selling this fones for R4500, He says their imported, is dat a gud price or abit suspicious.
Make my living in my pickup (sales calls, order materials etc...) I link up with my Pioneer F90BT Nav/DVD/Cell Phone Hands free via bluetooth. The N97 just does not work well at all with this. It drops the call when it does decide to work and won't hang up till I power down the phone.
This was the one thing I needed it to do. A lot of the other short comings I could forgive (like apps don't update consistently, OVI Store has very few useful applications, Interface feels like someone tried to slap a touch system on the phone without a lot of thought) but I have to have the hands free work.
Well this is money down the drain. I have switched back to my N95. I works great! Maybe they should have the N95 engineers design the N97 and then test it before they hoist it on the public.
I will be hard pressed to ever buy another Nokia product and will recommend that we do not consider them in our business useage.
