Veljibhai, 21 Jul 2009Anonymous I updated my N97 verson 11.0.021 replacing old verson. i noticed that device ... moreI have updated my friends devices before. Things such as themes, pics on memory card, phone numbers seem to stay. whatever is on phone memory seems to be reset. There are instances where some of the configurations stay as they were before and after the update. This was the case with my friends N95-2. But it doesnt really affect the phone.
I throw away my n97 and buy n97 again if I have more money because no other phone Manu facturer can offer me thos sexy design and removable battery loud speaker and bluetooth file trandering

I updated my N97 verson 11.0.021 replacing old verson. i noticed that device seems updated but all contacts, applications. settings remains unchanged. factory settings were unchanged. i.e not removed remains as it is. perviously i updated my all previous nokia handsets founds all phones were found factory setting were restored. but in this instrument its different. why? please reply your experience. please reply me on email@example.com
I have the N97, and the first, I started to have trouble with it... The facebook widget was freezing, the phone itself froze twice within about a week and a half... so I went back and they gave me a new one... Thing is, it is still happening! Today the phone froze, turned itself off, then back on again... The phone is up-to-date with updates... So I'm lost. I'm going to move everything from the external memory to the mass storage and see if that makes a difference.
It is a very nice phone. An upgrade from my N81, but maybe I should have waited for another competitor... Would never have gone an iphone, as a 3mp camera is crap, and they didnt even change the design... My opinion, so dont get angry at me!
I got this phone 2 days ago. First thing i did was update the software because I read many comments about the faults. So far the phone seems to be working perfectly. (Not NAM version)
I after reading about the screen here i thought that it would be bad. It seems to be really responsive though to as good as a capacitative screen. The battery seems to last a long time. After reading some of the comments here, I really expected this to be a terrible phone but I was surprised.
Most of the people here complain so much about the N97 as well as the iPhone, but have anyone of you used or owned a mid range or a low end device? can these phones really be worse than a mid range or low device. This is the first flagship mobile i have purchased and I am really pleased with it.
I have had a mid range phone before this and still managed to get many things done with it. You cant tell me that either of these phones are worse than using one of those. Its quite annoying how most of you complain about the N97 or iPhone or any other phone for that fact. You would probably shoot yourselves if you had a mid range phone. Heaven forbid you would have to wait a few seconds for the apps to load or the phone freezes. Theres so much functionality on both phones but everyone still complains about it.
You all forget that there is a recession going on and you are lucky to be able to afford any of these devices which many people cant at the moment. So stop your complaining. Any issues are being fixed with updates etc.
Congrats to apple and nokia for creating these awesome devices.
don't understand why nokia chose not to put xenon flash on this phone...it would have been great for taking pictures in dark places with poor light...anyway it's a good phone...hope to get one soon...have a N82 now...the lack of xenon flash it's the only thing that makes me not buying it...
I don't like the form of this cell, though i love the specs. It's just too big and heavy. For the next N-series, i jope nokia will release full touchscreen (like 5800) with slim design (as E72 with no QWERTY). And please increase the processor up to 1 GHz.
velji, 21 Jul 2009Nokia N97 have less memory in phone. mass memory have 32 GB but phone memory only 73 mb. thats... morecool down with the triple post :-). I think the people with hang problems should try saving messages, files, music, vdos, photos on mass memory.
I held my friends N97 yesterday and the screen resolution looks awesome. Very impressive touch screen. No hanging problems. Web browser (supports kinetic scrolling) is super fast and responsive through Wi-fi... I did not test over 3G/edge. Keyboard needs some getting used to. Menus without kinetic scrolling.
Overall a very nice phone but menus should have been made more intuitive for the novice Symbian user. It's great but I'll wait for Nokia's next move.
Sell the N97 & again buy a new N97. I am sure that would be much better.
I bought the N97 & I got the stylus which is quite decent. It hands off the phone with a nice tag & so far the phone has never hanged. Restarted yes, but that even my previous Xpress Series phones did.
It is a joy to SMS or write anything on the phone & also listen to music.
Surprisingly I bought the N97 first which turned out to be a crappy piece becoz it hung, had problems & was dead slow even though nothing was on it.
I sold it & took another N97 & that now is working like a charm. Clear example that in the case of electronics there will be 1 rotten apple amongst the bunch.
I bought the N97 with great hopes. My first disappointment on opening the box was to find two tooth picks for a stylus. When the Nokia guys came to demo the phone they showed me a wonderful metallic stylus. I feel cheated.
Within 1 week of using the phone, the side rocker screen-lock key flew off. I can tell you I have been using the 5800 for more than 6 months before this phone. That never flew off. So I think I am not a rough user. Poor Build Quality. Not expected at this price. When I gave it to Nokia service, they say it is a practical problem and can't repair it. Is there something like an impractical problem?
The whole phone hangs by itself intermittently hanging us in mid air in the middle of a call.
Nokia wants the sale volume from India but firmware updates and special hardware accessories etc are released elsewhere first.
The amount of phone memory as others have pointed out is also a deal breaker.
I regret having sold my 5800 for this inferior sky-high priced phone. I will never buy an N series phone in my life ever again.
I will always settle for an Xpress Music or E series.
Sorry Nokia your N-Series team needs a complete revamp. Bring in some sensible guys from the E series or Xpress music team to teach a thing or two.
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2009Yes the market is King and also reported N97/5800/6300 top selling phones, along with the ipho... moreThe market does not report who is selling what, but an evaluation of the companies stock based on the market success or not.
The market sees VERY negatively Nokia performance and 66 percent profits drop
while Apple is seen very positive with market gains in a recession, so do not B ULL
S H!I us with your childish theories it aint that way.
Nokia N97 have less memory in phone. mass memory have 32 GB but phone memory only 73 mb. thats why phone hensing many times. simply remove applications on phone & all collect from OVI store & install all on mass memory. you will find 20 mb more space, hangging problem will be some what solve.
now in looking for my new phone...
any idea? which one is the best?
n97 is good,isn't it?
I m waiting for this device for along but now im going to change my mind due to the reviews and the gossips about this device is not successfull as it is floap set from nokia---I hate the hanging problem and i came to know that this device hangs every time very disopointing for me as im a Nokia user and can't think of any other company but tis time Nokia crapssss, Now im switching to Samsung Omnia HD hope this will fullfill my expectations and cant behave like this one.
