Well after waiting what seems an age for this phone to come out i feel its already dated. im using a 5800 at the moment and its very very good, however ive lost interest in the N97. Mainly due to the Palm Pre coming out. What a fantastic phone. Beautiful interface and so much more fluid than the N97 i feel. Its palm pre all the way for me now
danny200, 05 May 2009Can someone plzz explain me what type of display is "resistive touchscreen" ?Resistive touchscreens are composed of two flexible sheets coated with a resistive material and separated by an air gap or microdots. When contact is made to the surface of the touchscreen, the two sheets are pressed together, registering the precise location of the touch.
For example, during operation of a four-wire touchscreen, a uniform, unidirectional voltage gradient is applied to the first sheet. When the two sheets are pressed together, the second sheet measures the voltage as distance along the first sheet, providing the X coordinate. When this contact coordinate has been acquired, the uniform voltage gradient is applied to the second sheet to ascertain the Y coordinate. This operation occurs instantaneously, registering the exact touch location as contact is made.
Resistive touchscreens typically have high resolution (4096 x 4096 DPI or higher), providing accurate touch control. Because the touchscreen responds to pressure on its surface, contact can be made with a finger or any other pointing device.
Can someone plzz explain me what type of display is "resistive touchscreen" ?
and so its confirmed to be 599 in spain. look like it is going to be

Mobilemaster, 05 May 2009To slooooow, too bad, choose the Idou, or Samsung Omnia HD. I hope Nokia will learn, and the N... morewhy Idou? do you know the cpu speed?
you could just say anything but nokia then, and don't tell me watch the vidoe , that means nothing. i'm using nokia for a long time and never had a problem.
CPU AND RAM was a secret over the past 5 months, nokia was embarrased to announce this stupid spu and ram at nokia world 2008.
N98 would has below 600Mhz below 192 ram, i guess
Nokia likes slow machine, we all know that,
idiot phone has 600Mhz gpu and good music quality and fast internet, and responsive high tech multitouch screen, it really impressive despite it lacks fm radio and many basic functions,
wiat for new iphone announcement and nokia world 2009 before deciding n97!!!!! i am smart guy
Anonymous, 05 May 2009the price of n97 is different in different country.
it seem $699 in US 650euro in Germany 600... morebest of all, its going to be cheaper here in the philippines c", it will play within Php30,000 below if it will cost $699 or 499Euro in europe and US.. that's what i commonly observe within years of following mobile phones. even N96 will cost more than N97..
awesome price point for a power device!!
I think Nokia should learn from Motorola n Ericsson.Long time ago they are leading this comunication industries, but where are they now?
Lack of creativity n improvement cause them further back of the grid.If Nokia still hold this kind of decision(creating smartphones with poor Proc n Ram),believe me just matter of time before Nokia following the same way(with Moto n Ericsson).
Anonymous, 05 May 2009you dont have any point but a kiddy like comment! the you think big memory is enough to call i... morewhat are you define as a smart phone? Samsung omnia hd, or HTC touch diamond?
Samsung lovers shocking news for you guys, the omnia hd is way more expensive then the N97 anf its not even the 16gb version... hahaha...
Samsung omnia 8gb (plastic back cover) - £529... ***notice its the 8gb version, not 16gb***
Nokia N97 32gb (white) - £499
Wow! So much space on that omnia 8gb for your precious hd videos. I guess 2mins hd recording with no audio would be an awesome bargain. XD
Sorry to burst your bubble guys but thats the fact and brace yourselves for more bone crunching facts and dissapointments regarding your over priced, gimmicky, messaih phone.
Engadget reports nokia n97 pre-order price as $699. Woot! Am so getting this phone.
how come on the nokia usa preorder page it says estimated shipping date is in july? does that mean its release is delayed?
iolo003, 05 May 2009now that the price of this phone was confirmed (499Euro)($699), i'm also finalizing my N97 and... morethe price of n97 is different in different country.
it seem $699 in US 650euro in Germany 600 euro Italy and according to an earlier post here 500 in Spain.
now that the price of this phone was confirmed (499Euro)($699), i'm also finalizing my N97 and N86 8MP battle.
N97 wins as my next upgrade. c", thanks Nokia for listening.
I was really looking forward to this phone. Now after the announcement of such a poor CPU, all my hype for this has gone down the can... I'm just going to wait until the middle of the year when phones using the NVIDIA Tegra chipsets start to roll out.
To slooooow, too bad, choose the Idou, or Samsung Omnia HD. I hope Nokia will learn, and the N98 will have 1GHZ CPU.
Anonymous, 04 May 2009a device equip with 32GB internal memory called MIDRANGE phone ??
i get ur message, a devic... moreyou dont have any point but a kiddy like comment! the you think big memory is enough to call it a smartphone? well thats really funny!
n-series is a higher class midrange phones! because highend phones are the smartphones/pocket pc phones! theres no way in hell a symbian phone can be called a smartphone. A smartphone is a mobile phone offering advanced capabilities, often with PC-like functionality, and a smartphone is a phone that runs complete operating system software providing a standardized interface and platform for application developers! and symbian are not a pc like performers, because symbian is not fully equipped with functions you need for comfortable email and Internet use, and it dont even have its own device-independent development platform! so how can you say a symbian phone with high memory is already called a highend phone/smartphone?! haha yes nokia is a midrange phone maker!!
