hi, yesterday i purchased mini97,i am exploring all oprations, but i have one problem. there is comulsory icon of INTERNATE. Is it contineus looking near network signals. My network provider should charge for this? is it possible to use net only for need? pl advice me,i am from India.
n97 mini -Amazing phone, got it on my bday. At first instance on using nokia 5800 , i thought nokia'a touch phones are gone. But n97 mini has proved me wrong. TOuch is its best among nokia phones,os is pretty decent too and i loved it more than 3rd edition.Camera quality is worth to mention. Besides the ovi maps GPS with lifelong voice guided navigation is one of the best features .worth on every buck you pay for this phone!
N97 mini's way better than its big bro: N97... My brother's using N97 and it's got a lot of bugs and lags sometimes... Plasticky feel to it too... The dpad's in the awkward position... I'm getting N97 mini for my bday... Got big fingers so the mini's keyboard will certainly work for me... Hell with fm transmitter, listening to a radio is better... Mini's got a compact feel too... And the CPU was improved... Typing text will never be a problem with its keypad... And the resistive touch screen would work better for me... Iphone's got capacitive screen but it's too responsive that i always accidentally key in a diff letter or press a diff app...
Thanks Nokia for the N97 mini...
Anonymous, 18 Apr 2010jus wntd to ask you timmy do u charge ur battery whole nighthey! dont charge your battery overnight, the battery lifetime will reduce.,
bought it for >4 months. Will say it is a good phone for overall.. great camera, which is one of the main thing I change from E71, but Bat is way too small for big screen, and key board is difficult to type, not a match with E71, but got the big touch screen in return.
May I ask you guys is there a way to add Chinese language to N97mini?
I can do it with E71, (crystalchinese something) and very disappoint when the same program is not supported by Mini?? How come??
It is the biggest down side for this phone, how come an international phone brand doesn't have multi language? This is the home work Nokia badly done, always.

I'm an owner of N97 mini, after reading "all" the posts in here, i felt obliged to share something about my hands-on experience with the device.
I will describe N97 mini as a "beautiful" phone, I will reserve "smart" for my E71. After reading all posts in here, it got me wondering if you're talking about one and the same phone, lol.
There are many complaints lodged against the phone but I can only symphatize with one, "battery life is a disappointment". Specially that I have been an E71 user for a year before deciding to opt for a touchscreen Nokia phone. My E71 battery can last for a week with very minimun usage. The mini lasts 5 hrs at most when web browsing using wifi. (but it says in the manual, charging while using can't harm the battery and phone, but the phone will eventually get stingingly hot on your grip).
If E71 beats the mini with the battery power, the mini kicks the balls out of E71 with its picture quality and video capabilities. I'm delightfully surprised with the video editing feature, that's a great plus. And the LED flash illuminates video shoots at night, wow to that. (Video coverage and editing is one of my rackets.)
Resistive or capacitive? I don't give a damn. When texting short messages, I use the alphanumeric virtual keyboard on the screen single-handedly in portrait mode. When in a hurry, or in a passionate mode where I want to express things in so many words, I use the qwerty physical keyboard. The mini offers me these choices, that's why I chose it over the 5800 and the iphone. I like the not-so-sensitive touchscreen. Accidental pressing of screen objects is put to a minimum. Touchscreen combined with a qwerty keypad, what can I ask for in a phone? Tip. turn on the keypad tones and touch screen vibration!
One more thing about the presence of a physical qwerty keypad, it makes chatting using Nimbuzz real fun! My friends complain that I'm too fast with my typing.
The essential apps I can't have without on my phone. Opera Mini web browser, Skyfire, since QuickOffice is not a freeware I substituted it with OfficeSuite, not so sophisticated but can do, other apps are pre-installed. No need to install other redundant software so OS crashing has never been a major problem of mine.
My message alert tone is the opening tune of Fireflies by Owl City. I love the sound of it.
Using the phone as modem over an Edge connection, quite ok. I have yet to try this on a 3G network.
Well, I love this phone. If there are minor glitches, I don't complain, I work around it.
