Nothing Phone (3a) rumored to have a larger 6.8" screen and a 50MP telephoto camera

Nothing Android Rumors

Nothing is expected to launch its first proper flagship this year, the Nothing Phone (3), along with two mid-range models: (3a) and (3a) Plus. It’s not clear which of these three – perhaps all of them – will be unveiled at the March 4 event that Nothing has planned. But now we have a slightly better idea of what one of them will be like.

The Nothing Phone (3a) has previously been reported as a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 device. It’s notable that this a-phone will be using a Qualcomm chip instead of a MediaTek one like the (2a) (which had a Dimensity 7200 Pro). Leakster Gadget Bits adds that the phone (model number A059) will launch with Nothing OS 3.1 (based on Android 15) and will feature the trademark Glyph lights.

The phone will be bigger than previous a-models with a 6.8” OLED display, a 1080p+ 120Hz panel. Punch holed in the front will be a 32MP selfie camera, which is in line with previous Nothing models.

The rear camera will be upgraded with the company’s (possibly) first telephoto module – a 50MP camera with a 2x lens. That will come at the expense of the ultra-wide camera, which will drop to 8MP (previous ultra-wides on Nothing phones have been 50MP units). The main camera will have a 50MP sensor, but there are no more specifics on it.

We say “possibly first” because if the Phone (3) series gets announced all at once, the three models will have to share the “first” claim. Interestingly, we’ve heard talk that the Nothing Phone (3a) Plus will have a periscope, meaning a longer focal length than the 2x (50mm or so) that the (3a) will have. And, of course, the flagship Nothing Phone (3) should have the best telephoto camera of the trio, but we haven’t seen any details on it yet.

Anyway, the (3a) will reportedly feature a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging – the same specs as the (2a).

The Nothing Phone (3a) – and quite likely the whole (3)-series – will be unveiled on March 4. Carl Pei is not the secretive type, though, so expect many teasers in the intervening weeks.

I'm using the Nothing Phone (2a). The display is great. The camera is decent. The vibration motor is really good. No idea what you're talking about. Maybe your unit is defective.
