The O2 Cocoon is a music-centric quad-band clamshell with 3G support. It boasts 2 GB of internal memory plus the available microSD card slot allows for topping it up with up to 2 GB more. The O2 Cocoon has a 262K color TFT display with QVGA resolution (240 x 320 pixels) and an external LED display with icon indicators. The phone also features FM radio with RDS, A2DP Bluetooth stereo headset support, USB, and a 2 megapixel autofocus camera.

The headset which comes in the box has a 3.5 mm jack on its remote control. This means you can enjoy music on your favorite headphones. The handset also offers dedicated side music keys plus a scroller wheel. The manufacturer promises up to 15 hours of continuous music playing. The O2 Cocoon has its Nest, as they call it, or otherwise a docking station with integrated speakers.

The unique blue external display can show the time, battery status, 'now playing' information, FM radio RDS feeds, caller ID and also the beginning of text messages as they arrive.

The exceptional clamshell design is made by the Syntes Studio, which are well-known for their industrial design exercises on creating concept handsets.

The O2 Cocoon will be available for sale from August 2007.
