One stated the lack of OIS as the weakness of OnePlus 5.....But, if you give it a thought and consider EIS and OIS both in terms of cost and manufacturing challenges, EIS wins and OnePlus 5 goes at very competitive price of $479 due to simple things like choosing EIS over OIS to give the almost same quality through its camera !!!
Anonymous, 21 Jun 2017iPhone clone no thanks.Clone? For that, it would also have to have the apple OS not to mention, stereo speakers, splash and water resistant; the list goes on. Can't judge a book by it's cover.
Flagship killer ---------------> Flagship Phone
Thats what happens when u get more famous
I was very interested to buy but the price is too much
Any way a big skip to oneplus 5
Sunny, 20 Jun 2017No OIS in a camera centric phone, what a joke by oneplus !agree! in this price range, there should be OIS. maybe i would choose mi 6 since in benchmarks wise theyre on par with each other
Those who are already having One Plus 3/3T better stick with it. There is nothing much innovated in OP5 apart from the camera. If you really concern about the camera then go for it. I still feel OP3 camera is good but anyway OP5 camera samples are not better than Samsung s8.
Few points to note why OP3 is super hit in india it is because they come up with new iterations from their previous generation phones which are 1. Dash charging 2. Slim Metal Unibody 3. Amoled screen 4. 6gb Ram 5. Unique design of the phone and camera placement. Did not referred any phone models.
But Here in OP5 i do not see anything newly designed or implemented. I only see the copycat of Iphone 7plus and ugly camera placement which protrudes more than op3. Few things which i have actually expected in OP5 1. QHD screen 2. Above 80% screen to body ratio 3. High quality DAC audio chip 4. Hybrid stereo speakers 5. Four Axis OIS(But in OP5 OIS itself missing) 6.Front camera flash and Rear camera dual done flash 7. Water splash proof 8. 4000mah battery with same 60 percent charging in 30 minutes using dash charger. There is nothing was there which i expected in OP5.
A BIG FAIL!!! Lets see the pricing in india tomorrow. I can promise if they priced 8gb ram and 128gb rom version for 35k they are lucky otherwise it is fate for them this year. We can take this OP5 as OP4 since it is unlucky or death for them.
OP3 got super hit in india because it fulfilled above expectation of everyone but OP5 created lot of hype and anticipation this year but they failed big time.
Abadussami, 20 Jun 2017Go with LG G5 the best phone ever ..no heating every thing is perfect in this phoneBootloop issue?
i saw some review and durability of this and this phone is totally impressive except with no Extend memory card slot and no water resistance. but to me the only need to upgrade to this phone is memory card slot.
Shinji77, 21 Jun 2017No longer a flagship killer phone. Quite pricey, no water/splash resistant, and no QHD resolut... moreThe galaxy s7 edge a better deal for the same or even less the price this iPhone clone is priced.
Not happy that they increased the top/bottom bezels. Battery size is the same, so what was the benefit? To look more like an iPhone? Other than that it looks pretty good in most regards.
Sunny, 20 Jun 2017No OIS in a camera centric phone, what a joke by oneplus !Thats because it has EIS, which is better... Read next time.
No longer a flagship killer phone. Quite pricey, no water/splash resistant, and no QHD resolution. I rather choose 3T or Mi6.
First they eliminate removable batteries in Android smartphones, now the trend of removing micro SDCard slot is high and worrying.
djwestman, 21 Jun 2017Oops . Now i saw that it has no OIS , no waterproof , no sd card , no ir blaster , no wireless... moreThey have a fast charger but beside that you're absolutely right.Ohh,the basic model is 500 euro and it comes only in gray right now.
You should also look at the price of the accessories, they don't come cheep either.
In Canaduh (All in CA$ - $1US ~1.33CA$) the price of the 128GB is $719CA. Probably good value esp with the nice size. However, what was a huge bonus last year IMO was the extra warranty they offered online - OP3T was $25CA for a basic extra warranty only (2yrs) v. $120CA for the loss/accidental.
With the OP5 - a single $185 option. How do they justify that? Apple is $169CA and yet I can walk into an Apple store anywhere. OP5? Mail only and no human and I have read about OP CSR problems (even if it is a 3rd party warranty). And no, unlike my friend who forgot where his old flip Samsung went years ago only to find it was 3 inches under the water in the hammock, I am less concerned with MY goofs. Most stuff today is crap (generalized comment) - and the only way around that is an extended warranty to cover THEIR goofs. I felt the $25 option ($50 would have been fine this year) was perfect. I would really have to think about this now. I am not interested in a contract with the cell company - but at least they offered for $8/mth some protection which I could drop after a period of time.
These non-flagship phones are inching the pricing higher and higher. I am sure some new player will come out with equally great specs at $200 cheaper - thus driving another round of lower priced solid phones. But not today.
We will see how these perform and I will see if this becomes Neo or I need to move along. Unfortunately, we (someone point me?) have very little unlocked phones sold in Canada with Canadian warranties (/offering extended warranties) Apple and Samsung (I think at their store) aside. Many unlocked are "refurb" junk (someone else's problems never figured out) or "at your own risk - may not work with your provider" etc. Costco sells some - and I keep looking for new offerings - nothing has turned my crank - and they offer no extra warranty surprisingly (their tablets do). I looked at the Xiaomi Mi 6 - no extra warranty and I wonder about the site - think it is US based.
Wheez, 20 Jun 2017They did show many of the different prototypes made for OnePlus 5. Although I guess they could... moreOk,not only because it's cheaper (and it is cheaper to copy). When a company comes up with a new original design (and you need to spend money to come up with a design) it also takes a lot of risks (will the design catch on with the target market,is the design flawed from a hardware perspective and so on).A new design involves the risk of loosing.
OnePlus decided to not take any risk, went and did what all Chinese manufacturers do and made a iPhone copycat.Again easier to do and at fraction of the cost in terms of design.
Don't get the reason for the high price though, other than making more profit of course.
Oops . Now i saw that it has no OIS , no waterproof , no sd card , no ir blaster , no wireless charging , no qualcomm quick charge support (so all of my chargers and external batteries will not charge it fast). So why spending 500 euros ? Is this a joke or what ?
