Dan, 29 Nov 2017That last line was meant to say "age a little and get dropped by manufacturers."Fine. I don't like arguing but instead I want to convey things rationally. Honestly in rational terms.
1. From your talks I feel that there is no single mobile in the market which can satisfy you and your needs, without which why should you blame a shame on Oneplus 5t. Isn't Google's Pixel 2 not on your list. Moreover since you aren't hardware specific why shouldn't you consider Xiaomi's mi A1 which being powered by Google.
2. Off the books there are plenty of hitches as to how Android devices are being updated. Being a Google's own device why haven't Xiaomi's mi A1 hasn't been updated yet to Oreo. To be very honest we are not eligible to criticize anyone. This is rationality. There are lot of constraints for anything and everything in this world.

AnonD-711869, 30 Nov 2017What do you need 256 extra gigs for? I have music, photos, movies, TV shows on my SD card. It would be so easy to just plug in my card from my old phone to my new phone. Won't buy this phone without an SD slot!
no microsd again.... wtf is wrong with manufacturers these days... huawei mate 10 pro no microsd, this again no microsd.... I wanna use my 256gb microsd what's so hard... I'm not interested in internal 128gb... sure it's enough but I'd rather use my storage than transfer all my stuff to a new phone every time I change my phone....
5T 128 availability is for off, in Dubai! Anybody can guide, the store. With Prices. It's all Vivo, OnePlus, Oppo one as the same thing.
This phone sucks without capacitive keys, when using camera app how are you supposed to press the back button to leave the app, you have to flick up every time to press back button.

I am more into the software sure of things than hardware and do not require latest and greatest hardware beyond a short period after the purchase.
Therefore I try to buy a phone that I believe at the time of purchase will give me the longest possible combination of support in the form of keeping me up to date with the most recent build of Android possible for my device. Initially I expect this support from the manufacturer for the usual two years or thereabouts Once this support window lapses, I turn to support from custom ROM developers in the Android enthusiast community, primarily LineageOS to stay up to date as possible.
You are correct when you say I am not on an Oreo device, but I am now on the lookout for such a device in the near future. My current device is a Moto X 2014, which I bought for precisely the reasons stated earlier when it was still a very recent device. As it was designed under Google's time as owners of Motorola, it has proven a good choice for me because it got similar levels of love and support from the developer community to that which Google's own Nexus series have received. Although it hasn't got Oreo yet from LineageOS, I am running a stable, secure and fully functional Nougat 7.1.2 ROM in the official LineageOS build. You can dismiss custom ROMs as "misleading" all you like, but the good work of developers in Android community will continue to make many of us happy as our devices age a little and Gerry stored by

and ergo faster updates
Doesn't mean longer updates by any stretch
I agree that OP only saw the short run benefit in pushing Oreo faster, and not the long run benefit of pushing subsequent updates in the future by adopting Treble
I thougt OP listened to fans, when they claimed to do so retaining the headphone jack
Faster updates are the only thing keeping Android from reaching its true potential, and let Apple get away with the accolade when it comes to updates

achieve if your mobile has it.
Google's Project Treble has just simplified the procedure for the Android mobile manufacturers to update their Android, by making Android Oreo modular. It doesn't mean that you will keep on receiving Android updates for your mobile till the end of your life. Moreover, any Android mobile will receive software support only for about two years. In the case with Oneplus 5t consumers will definitely receive Oreo update and even Android P. Look at Oneplus 3t. Talking about custom ROMs here is irrelevant and misleading. I truly believe that the mobile you use currently doesn't include Google's Project Treble. A gift from Google shouldn't land up in controversies.
Jason Melling, 28 Nov 2017This is NOT a budget phone. All Oneplus devices are budget phones, what now? Your going to cry lol.

Sam, 29 Nov 2017One plus 5t vs iPhone x vs galaxy s8 which one is best Please answer me. I want to buy asap. Thanks When you opt for Oneplus 5t you have the choice to choose the 8gb ram model. Moreover, approximately, it the just half the price of S8. Also the fingerprint sensor in S8 is wrongly placed which is greatest design error in the life of Samsung. To add up Oneplus 5t will not only receive Oreo update but will also receive Android P, I believe.
Coming to iPhone, it is altogether a different experience. You can get Android mobiles from different manufacturers. But you can get an iPhone only from Apple. First decide between Android and iOS. If you want iOS choose an iPhone or the other way. Everything can't be dealt here. There are plenty of factors to be considered when it comes to Android or iOS. Discuss with your friends or study more about these through the www.
Well, tastes always differ. Wishing you Good Luck.
